1-0 out of 5 stars bad bad bad ... worse
wow....im surprised so many reviewers were kind to this movie !...it is straight up terrible....looks like a big fat fox/abc TV show...JJ might have TV majic, but my Mom could direct a better movie...cruise is cruise....the rest of the cast is there to make him look tall and not nuts....if you like silly movies like "face off" or "the rock"or any 1980 swayze and/or stallone....you will love it

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Mission Film
This was the best Mission Impossible film--so far--thanks to JJ Abrams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cruise
I love the movie. usually, I dislike action movies, but Cruise put so much of himself in it, I wondered and I get to check it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the right sort of fan
This is a perfect release for someone like me--I saw the films in my teens and never paid the slightest bit of attention to them thereafter. I haven't ever bought a tape or dvd of any of the Star Wars stuff, but was intrigued by the idea of finally being able to see the orginals. The theatrical release on the bonus disc doesn't look too bad--especially at night in a dark room. I have a 26 -inch LCD: it looks fine if I leave it with bars on all four sides, and loses something when I zoom in.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great Film - Half-Hearted Treatment
"Return of the Jedi" is a classic, and while it's nice to finally have a theatrical version on DVD, this release seems more like a slap in the face to diehard fans than a worthy treatment.

5-0 out of 5 stars What great filmmaking is (and can be again, if you really want it)...
I love the fact that this film, one of my personal favorites and a film that made me fall in love with epics, is finally being released on DVD.I remember growing up embracing any film that was long (David Lean was also a personal favorite), and this is one that I've always loved. It's intelligent, thought provoking, well acted, directed, and just about everything else.It harks back to a time when Hollywood studios would take a chance and make an interesting, complex film. The studios should realise that you can make films like this along with your usual assembly ones. Not everything should be dumbed down to the level of horny teenage boys. This is epic moviemaking at its finest, and I'm estatic that it's finally being released on DVD.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dull Dull Dull
I saw this in the theatre in 1981.The dog sitting outside the bedroom door was the only interesting thing about this waste of celluloid.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Cinematic Masterpiece
Reds is a totally brilliant masterpiece of a movie.I've been waiting for it to be on DVD, so thanks Mr. Beatty for doing a great job making this movie, and for finally putting it out on DVD!

4-0 out of 5 stars Is It Worthy To Be Called Fast & Furious
The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift is about a 17 year old kid named Sean played by Lucas Black. Sean loves cars and he loves to race them but it's too bad he can't get away from the police like Brian O'conner (Paul Walker) because he's already been caught twice and is on his way to a third strike. Sean ends up wrecking his car in a race against a high school jock who was racing to keep his girlfriend. Sean gets caught and instead of going to jail he goes to Tokyo to live with his father.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gradually gets better...
I decided to give this show a try because I enjoy Jensen Ackles, and he is probably the break-out star of this show, definitely. The premise of this show, two brothers who travel around the country fighting 'supernatural' "bad guys", is excellent, with plenty of story possibilities and action. The "bad guys" range from demons, to ghosts, to weird creatures out of folk lore and legend. Very interesting stuff. However, the first few episodes of the show tend to be of the 'freak-of-the-week' type, just like the first few episodes of Smallville. Keep watching, though, because a subtle and slow-developing under-plot begins to take form. And it's a fun one. Season two will have you glued to the screen. And if you aren't into the spooky stuff, then Ackles' character has a dry humor and sarcastic personality that will surely entertain you. Over all, it's a welcome break from reality TV, and rich California teenager crisis dramas.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Well-Crafted and Entertaining Show.
For those like me with little time to watch television and no money for Tivo, buying this DVD set was a godsend. Playing catch-up with Supernatural Season One was well worth it. This show is remarkable. The writing, acting and directing are all superb and well crafted. Each episode is connected, vibrant and genuinely fun to watch. Any fan of horror, sci-fi, comedy, or just good entertainment will get their money's worth.

4-0 out of 5 stars SOMETHINGS WICKED THIS WAY COME
SUPERNATURAL has a lot going for it:it is generally spooky, even though the storylines are derived from horror stories we've all seen before, but to the writers and directors credit, they are twisted enough to make them seem fresh again. We get vampires, urban legends, Wendigos, witches, etc., and our heroes are stout warriors against them.To reiterate the basic premise, Sam and Dean are brothers who are following in the footsteps of their supernatural investigator father in the quest to find the demon that killed their mother and Sam's girlfriend, while fighting various other horrors along the way.Jared Padalecki is the sullen younger brother Sam, whose quest for a "normal" life ends with his lady's murder and his brother's insistence he join him in his quest to find their missing father.Jensen Ackles is all dimple and macho bravado as Dean, the protective brother who is intent on dedicating his life to his demon demolishing. While the actors are both adequate, there are times when their affectatious mannerisms grow tedious. Also, their bickering and oneuppance get repetitious; there's not one episode where they're not arguing about something or differing on just what their goal in life is.A little less focus on their bickering might have made the series episodes move a little tighter.Anyway, this is one of the better horror series of recent television history and I did enjoy the first season...and it has a heck of a cliffhanger. On to season 2 I guess. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars I Was There!!!
I attended this concert at Denver Colorado's Mile High and at Dallas Texas Super Dome. These were excellent concerts and the DVD captures the quality performance of this tour. Dave Gilmour brought this together very well without Roger Waters; whom I am also a great fan. The audio and video are stimulating and is well worth the money and the long wait. I would have given this DVD a five star rating but that rating goes to Floyds 1987 concert 'Delicate Sound of Thunder', which I also attended at Kansas City's Arrowhead stadium. The intensity and arrangment of this show surpases Pulse and the performance of 'The Great Gig in the Sky' still gives me a pleasent shiver when I play the VHS. Personally I like Momentary Lapse of Reason music more than Pulse. The Delicate performance did have a higher energy level. I own both on VHS and was very pleased to purchase Pulse on DVD to add to my collection. If you like this concert you owe it to yourself to view DSOT. All in all, Pulse is a very, very good concert video and most buyers will not be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Show
First off, i knew this had been shot on video and knew the DVD would not look as good as i expected. So i can forgive some of the terrible shots in this film. Second, this is an excellent show. Not many bands these days give you such a complete audio visual experience. Thirdly, i can say it's about time this finally came out on DVD. It was worth the wait and iw as itching to get rid of the crumbling videotape i had of this. There are flaws, but they are not numerous and are forgivable. Unless you are an audio or videophile you should enjoy this DVD. If not, just buy the CD's.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth The Wait - Wish I was There
Finally the wait is over.Grab this with both hands.I had the VHS for years and wondered why it was never released on DVD until now.The concert footage is awesome (complete with laser beam show and blistering special effects only possible in a huge stadium like Wembly) and sounds just great.Just like being at a Floyd concert.A must for any who has seen them live or owned the CD / VHS.I missed the concert so this is the next best thing - but play it on a big screen, the bigger the better. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Hard to match first two seasons
I would give both season one and season two 5 stars, season three certainly slows down a bit so I only gave it 4. The program becomes more dramatic and tear jerking in the third season. I thought the first two seasons really added that shock factor and seemed to move at a lightning fast pace from one story to the next. The stories seem to drag out a bitmore in season three which is indicative of any dramatic series getting past the first 30 episodes, fewer ideas so lets make more out of the ones we have.
4-0 out of 5 stars With a little nipping and some tucking it could have been perfect...
As much as season 3 of `Nip/Tuck' really slipped as far as delivering the goods, it still serves up better entertainment than most television series today. It's still just as addicting, it's just not as rewarding in the end.I will say though that the season finally was a doozy and made up for some of the sub-par episodes throughout the season. So, Matt (John Hensley) goes through a rebellious Neo-Nazi stage as he mourns the loss of his girlfriend, and once he finds out that she was really a `he' he goes even more berserk. He takes up with a crazy white supremacist (Brittney Snow), beats up a transsexual and turns to hating his family.Sean (Dylan Walsh) and Christian (Julian McMahon) are still trying to work out their relationship after the discovery that Matt is indeed Christians son, and then add to the mix Quentin Costa (Bruno Campos) the new bi-sexual plastic surgeon they hired on to take some time off of Sean's hands. The soap opera begins as Quentin propositions Christian then starts dating Julia (Joely Richardson) who has just opened a business with Christians ex Gina (Jessalyn Gilsig) and Liz (Rhoma Maffia).Oh yeah, and there's the mess with that pesky Carver who hasn't stopped making a mess of the faces of America. So Christian takes up with the cop investigating the case (Rhona Mitra) as well as getting engaged to Kimber (Kelly Carlson) and then getting accused of the murders himself.Oh yeah and then there's the woman in the Witness Protection Program (Anne Heche) who takes up with Sean.So with all this going on it becomes a bit difficult to stay on board. The Carver story goes a bit extreme, the soap opera turns a bit exhausting and the relationships between the main characters gets a bit unrealistic (not to mention the off the wall surgeries) but all that included I'm still addicted, I'm still watching and that's why I give this four stars...because it wouldn't be `Nip/Tuck' unless it were extreme...that's what we love about it!

1-0 out of 5 stars You lost me on Season 3
I loved Seasons 1 and 2 of Nip Tuck. I thought it was a great show and brilliant writing. However, season 3 just went way too far to the point I stopped watching it.I'll give Season 4 a try but hopefully the writers will go back to what worked for them the first two seasons. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clever and Original
This is the only sitcom worth watching anymore. Network sitcoms are so moronic and unoriginal. This one really comes out of left field though. If the Cohen Brothers wrote for television it would probably be something like 'My Name is Earl.'
5-0 out of 5 stars Great DVD package!
There are two reasons to buy a DVD set for a series: One, no commericals and two, the extras. Well, Earl has a GREAT amount of extras you'll just love. The 'reverse karma' idea is genius. You get a whole episode to watch. Many deleted scenes and a host of commentary is well worth the money. For Earl fans, it's a definate collectable. I don't have to tell you how funny and witty each episode is, if you're reading this you already know what a gem this show is!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny, original series
I didn't watch this show until I found it on DVD, but I was hooked from the first episode.I watched all episodes from Season 1 in a few day; this is a pretty good show. The show has a pretty clever concept--a small time crook named Earl (Jason Lee) is almost killed after he wins $100,000 from an instant lottery ticket. He believes that Karma is punishing him for all the bad things he's done. Therefore, he makes a list of all the people he has wronged in his life and tries to make it up to them one-by-one (or one episode at a time).

5-0 out of 5 stars Avatar is AMAZING, but the quality of the first disc...
Five stars for the show, 4 stars for the quality, since the first disc of mine has bad pixel quality (both of them, I returned the first and got another but same problem persists). A bad transfer is all, but it spoils the first disc. I'm going to go out and just buy Vol.1 to replace that one disc, hopefully it's better.

3-0 out of 5 stars less exciting than other seasons
First of all , i'm a die hard Sopranos fan . I own all 5 seasons . Seasons 1-5 were all pretty good , some standing out more than others . My favorite episode was Seasons 3 Pine Barrens . Anyway , season 6 was pretty dissappointing for me . The Vito storyline was drawn out way to long . Everyone knew he was gay , but they seemed to devote half the episodes just to vito . They coulda tied that story up in one , maybe two episodes . It seemed the writer was trying ride off the success of Brokeback Mountain .Tonys near death experience was pretty good touch though . Especially the changes he made after his coma . Anyway , I hope the next half is better .

3-0 out of 5 stars Half the season, half the quality of previous seasons...
Season six, part one?Trying to make money due to a hiatus that should not have occurred, but who could blame them. However, I would of just called it quits on season six with 12 episodes and have a final season seven.I hope that when season six part two comes out, we will have the option of buying the complete season instead of buying part one and part two.As far as season six, it is by far not the best and this is regrettably being said by one of greatest Sopranos fans there are.I have always liked the writing, the acting and the plot.In fact, episode one of season six is one of the best episodes ever made, but for the most part of season six, part one, it has been lackluster to the point of almost boring on occasions.Yes, there were some good plot twists, some great acting and some very good writing that deals with subject matter not normally associated with this genre of television or movies. My rating of this box set or the first 12 episodes is a comparison with the first five "full" seasons in which I own the box sets. The show is aging, maturing to the point where you know you are being led to its finale. What the show is doing well is that it is not leaving really any clues as to what to expect for part two--which my hope is that the show rebounds and finishes with a literal bang.God save Tony and please give us a movie for the real finale. For those of you, I hope you TIVO'd the first 12 episodes like I did, that way you don't have to buy "part one" and wait for the entire season to end and hopefully be able to buy the entire season for about the same price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still the Sexiest Show
This show is completely inexplicable to me.Despite the fact that the people and the stories are so evil and sick, it still turns me on.I cannot figure out why, but I just know it's true.Tony, I love you!I can't help it.I'll probably keep loving you even after somebody whacks you! ... Read more
