4-0 out of 5 stars Could be better
Although Season 5 is not as bad as Season 6, it isn't one of the best overall.Rory is going downhill all the way, being very unRorylike in some ways and making bad choices. She drops out of Yale among other things. This was a disappointment, but had enough going for it that it's worth a watch if you're out of Gilmore and don't want to rerun previous seasons right away.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gilmore Girls has been better
I love Gilmore Girls, but I don't like the fifth season as much. I don't like how Rory is with Logan; he is a horrible influence. I don't like how Rory quits Yale, and how her life seems to go downhill. However, I do like how Emily and Richard end up back together, and Lorelai and Luke end up back together. But overall, the first four seasons were better.

4-0 out of 5 stars gilmore girls the compleat 5th season

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie
I loved this movie and thought it was a great follow up from the other movies. LOVE IT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Latest Chapter Of All Time Greatest Movie Series !
I can't get enough of Halloweetown and it's inhabitants. It was fun to see how the young stars of the first film have grown up, though not quite a shock with Kimberly J. Brown. I've been a fan of hers for years. But onto the review. HH is an awesome movie, though I wish that they would've actually gone to Halloweentown in it. It was fun seeing Marnie in school. The problems that she faced trying to keep her friends from finding out about her and her friends from Halloweentown were hilarious. Marnie's powers are tremendously more advanced in Halloweentown High than they were in the other two movies, though her spells don't always have the desired effect most of the time. She tries to make a magical set of rooms in her house but ends up shrinking the house instead. A skeleton is attacking someone and Marnie tries the spell that her grandmother uses to make something go away but ends up only making the skeleton several times larger. There were only two things that I didn't like about the movie. One, there was no commentary track by the cast, and two, the audio is 5.1 surround sound. If you don't have a surround sound system, the sound will be compressed which can make the volume get a bit softer in places. I don't have a 5.1 system yet, but I'm hoping. If you're any kind of fan of Halloween or Kimberly J. Brown, get this movie, along with the first two and enjoy the holidays !

5-0 out of 5 stars Halloweentown High
Wow do i remember watching the first one back in 98! I was a 9 years old back then. It was a good movie to watch. Good clean fun and nothing with bad words. The adventures of Halloween could never be this fun. It has all the cool things in it. Monsters, witches and all types of things for children. Even though now i'm 16 i still watch all the Halloweentown movies. I hope they make a 4th one. I think parents and younger children should watch all of the movies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is the best season
If you only watch one, watch this season. But you really should watch them all. However this is the one that is captivating, intelligent and edgy.Everything I love in a movie or series.I highly recommend this season for rent or purchase.
5-0 out of 5 stars NIP/TUCK IS FOREVER CAPTIVATING!
I have enjoyed Nip/Tuck from the beginning! It's now into Season 4 and it still has me riveted to my seat every week! Each week brings surprises and unexpected plot twists. All the characters meld together perfectly which is a joy to watch. And the cameos of big stars who make an appearance on a show to two are quite fun and entertaining!
5-0 out of 5 stars Further down the slippery slope of dysfunction
Nip/Tuck is back for another season, so strap yourselves in for the ride.If you thought Season One was groundbreaking, wait till you find out what's in store in Season Two!I highly recommend watching Season One first, that way the convoluted warping of family and business relationships might make a little more sense. In Season Two, the morals get seedier, the surgeries more graphic, and the sin more cutting edge than ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sorting out the Viewing order, Great series!
Fully in line with my expectations for BBC excellence, the Midsomer Murders series doesn't disappoint. I did find however the Set numbering quite confusing as it didn't seem to correspond to the character developments.
4-0 out of 5 stars Even more corpses in Set Seven, but perhaps a little tiredness is creeping into the writing and plotting
There's no apparent sign that Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) is undergoing any mid-life crisis, but it may be that Midsomer Murders, now in its seventh season, is. Set Seven contains only four of theseven programs that made up the season. Almost without exception they show signs of strain in the writing and plotting. Although still quite enjoyable mysteries involving the many murders that occur in quiet, well-mannered Midsomer County, they nonetheless, in my opinion, lack a little of the style and cleverness of the earlier shows.
3-0 out of 5 stars Missing Episodes
Midsomer Murders is my all-time favorite mystery series, beautifully photographed and with superb acting.Five stars for the programs, but no stars, I'm afraid, for these disks which contain only four of the six episodes of Series 7.After waiting forever for the release of these disks, what a disappointment to find that "The Maid in Splendour" and "The Straw Woman" have been omitted without explanation. How much longer must we wait (and how much more must we pay) for all of Series 7 and the following series to be released?(Average of 5 + 0 = 2 1/2) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Gojira vs. Godzilla!
For sci-fi fans like me, this recent release of the Gojira/Godzilla DVD set has been a long-awaited event. Now, at long last, we are able to see the original Gojira film and compare it with the Godzilla Hollywood version which we all grew up watching. And here I thought I knew this movie...
5-0 out of 5 stars FUN, BUT NOT BETTER THAN THE AMERICAN VERSION
Before buying this 2 disc DVD,I've read the reviews of the fans and the majority of them praise 'Gojira'and mock the American version with Raymond Burr. After viewing the original Japanese version (which I belive is excellent), I find the comparison reviews narrow minded and disapointing. These folks are sophisticated and savy and have always known they can watch their tapes and DVD's over and over and pick apart anything they see. This must make them feel important but the opinions I've read on the comparison of the 2 films is unfair. I wasn't born in 1956 when the original U.S. version was released. I saw it in 1968 when I was 7 years old on 'Creature Feature' and I remember exactly what I said when it was over: "Godzilla is my new favorite Monster". Raymond Burr's 'Flashback' narrations give the film a documentary feel which is abscent from the Toho version. The American version is "different", not "worse". The anti-nuclear approach in the original film is "great", but it's not "better". And as for the techniques used to blend the 2 films, I think they were pretty damn clever and not ameturish in the least bit. Please buy this DVD; watch and love both versions....you'll thank me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Re-Mastered and Restored, But Very Nice DVD Release Previously Unavailable!
I am very happy to finally see the ORIGINAL version of GOJIRA (a.k.a, GODZILLA) being officially released in the USA!

5-0 out of 5 stars HEY!! TOSS MY SALAD
Like the 5 seasons before it never let me down. Although some storylines drifted off course it was still Oz. It also lets you wonder down the road, that maybe???...... they'll transfer these bad boys to another institution. I enjoy when nothing else is on or when I want to watch a movie, watch the other 5 seasons. I am possitive they could have gotten 100's more show ideas from the animals judicated in our penal systyms.

4-0 out of 5 stars good dvd
I use this dvd quite a lot because sometimes it is the only one I have time for. Also, in the morning I can't do too much.I love the morning one with Rodney Yee, he is my favorite. It is very gentle and relaxing but gives a good stretching. Not good if you are wanting a challange. The PM one is good also, more challanging. I know some people have wrote that it didn't put them to sleep and it doesn't.But I don't think that is what it is suppose to do.It relaxes you and relieves stress. Beautiful scenery like all the Gaiam dvds.

4-0 out of 5 stars not bad
Well this is my first yoga video, and i thought it was ok. The AM workout is a bit easy, and there are some moves in the PM that I need to practice. I do think both streches move a little fast, they should hold the poses a bit longer to allow you to catch up. I like it because it is short and I feel pretty good when i am done. I will probably try a couple other vids from others to see how they compare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Starters
This is the very most perfect DVD for anyone wanting to begin a consistent yoga practice.

Editorial Review

Gary Cooper plays Alvin York, the real-life country lad and sharpshooter drafted to fight during World War I but blocked from killing by his pacifist sentiments. Howard Hawks makes a rousing, heroic film out of the tale, and Cooper gives one of his best performances (for which he won an Oscar). The 1941 feature seems as much a valentine to wartime America (and a not-so-subtle piece of propaganda) as anything, with Hawks capturing splendidly shot scenes of life in York's home state of Tennessee, which in turn provide a striking contrast to the battlefield. A key scene in the film, in which York is presented with an argument in favor of killing in war, is still thought provoking. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WHEN OSCAR MET COOPER....A TIMELESS TRIUMPH!
For those who wonder why it took so long for SERGEANT YORK to make his journey to DVD, all you have to be familiar with is how AWFUL this movie looked when TCM ran it on TV. Like so many older Warner pictures, it needed to be restored, and over and over again, the grand old studio founded by the brothers Warner is restoring is glittering gems for DVD to look and sound terrific.
5-0 out of 5 stars Took them long enough!!!
4-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY
This is really a classic American movie and it boggles the mind why it took the studio so long to release it. Sgt. York is played by Gary Cooper in what I personally believe is his best performance. Walter Brennan is fabulous as the folksy preacher. I particularly remember the turkey shooting contest in which York demonstrated his skill with a rifle. Recently, American Rifleman magazine published a great story on Sgt. York that is well worth reading! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Giving THE WIRE Justice
I hesitate to try to typify THE WIRE in a wee Amazon review, as the show's extraordinary realism and excellence is reflected in so many different components, it would take a feature article to do it justice. For example, this crime program is populated by police officers and criminals who are in many cases, the "genuine article," and there is no obvious difference between these real-deal folks and the show's ACTUAL actors. Thus, we can score one for verisimilitude.(Actually, score two.)
5-0 out of 5 stars The best TV series of all time
There is a scene in the third season of "The Wire" that I think is the best scene of dramatic TV that I have ever seen. It concerns a black detective, talking with the street hoodlum "Omar" about the way the neighborhood used to be, and he says, "you know, no matter how hard people were, there was no such thing as a person that got killed and didn't matter". That scene is a great statement and commentary on American inner cities and what has happened to them. You can see that Omar is trying to "blow it off" and be tough, but in his eyes, you can see that those words have struck him to his core. The scene is one of the best in the entire series and indicative of how good this series is. The writing is absolutely spectacular. It blows me away how good this show is.

1-0 out of 5 stars What the???
I am a huge fan of this show so when I found out that the episodes were CLIPPED i was furious. It's not even subtle! It is completely noticable as some of my favorite episodes had hilarious portions completely removed. I don't what the deal is with the slow release schedule and the lack of legitimate bonus features is ridiculous. I'm really upset and hope they rerelease this with UNEDITED episodes. GEEZ!

2-0 out of 5 stars Episodes still great despite a scandalous DVD release
I couldn't believe that so many episodes were cut. AND really, how dumb is it to have Deborah Harry's appearance in the episode guide on the box and then to cut out her scene? I liked this season a lot but LIONSGATE should really be ashamed. For me, it is particularly annoying because I have never seen the full-length episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great season
I loved watching this season again on DVD, I just wish it didn't take forever for it to be released! The shows are cut, they are the same length as the TV ones, but the comedy is so good and funny that I really don't care. This is the first season that wasn't like the last 4, they made changes, and they had too, the same format and lines were not going to last another season, and I think they did a great job. I think it was funnier than the previous four seasons. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not THAT scary but it was enjoyable
Awhile ago I was having a conversation with someone about musical tastes where we vastly disagreed on what was simply awesome bands and which ones were purely based around taste, such as people who love R&B and Rap to people who prefer Dance. In a way, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as the Exorcist and the Shining are like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin of horror movies: you must love them and say anything different and you're going to get lynched. So I will agree that the film is definately refreshing considering the latest crop of so-called "horror movies", yet at the same time I wonder why it didn't hit me that much.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
PLOT: Five friends (Pam, Kirk, Sally, Franklin, and Jerry) are travelling across the open, isolated roads of Southern Texas, checking on a family grave in light of recent graverobbing in the area. The good news is, the grave is unharmed. The bad news is, the kids are tortured and slaughtered by a group of inbred hicks who dwell withing the woods.

4-0 out of 5 stars classic Jack Black
It's good to know that farce is alive and well in the world. Since the mid 90's it feels like film makers have lost their grip on truly great weird comedy. Movies that speak to the few and turn off the rest. It seems that even as the tools to unlock our imaginations get flashier and flashier, and special effect budgets grow and grown, American film grow static and stale. Then when it seems like all hope is lost, a film like NACHO LIBRE comes along.
4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely Ha-ha funny
Jack Black has that uncanny ability to make physical comedy and overt silliness enjoyable and heart-warming at the same time.I'm glad he came backto his roots after his semi-serious stint in Peter Jackson's "King Kong".Physical comedy is what he does best because he throws his all into it fearlessly.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Movie is Great
Most comedy strikes me as stupid slapstick, but this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I can't even tell people about some scenes because I start laughing so hard I can't talk.If you liked Napoleon Dynamite and School of Rock, this movie is for you, same weird humor, but a little better. In the theater it seemed that people either loved it (laughing the entire time), or thought it was kind of strange (looking at us in wonderment).Jared Hess meets Jack Black, go figure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Donny Crane...Denny Crane
I must say, I am rather enjoying the first season of the Emmy Award winning Boston Legal. Alan Shore (James Spader), who in my opinion is one of the best actors currently (well...next to Denzel), and Denny Crane (William Shattner)who is one of the funniest people to meet, have such an impressive chemistry when it comes to this show. I have only seen the first two discs but I am enjoying watching Alan in his closings and Denny Crane proving to the world that Denny Crane isn't retired. Denny Crane.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Show - But Sometimes "Preachy"
My wife turned me on to this show.If not for this I would have never watched it.The acting is great, writing is superb even though it gets "Preachy" in a few episodes (the 2 shows with Rev. I recently purchased Season One of BOSTON LEGAL and can't wait to get Season Two.This is the only DVD series I have ever purchased and that's how much I love the show.Working in a law firm myself, I am familiar with the types of characters it attracts, but few as interesting and funny as William Shatner and James Spader.I look forward to this show each week and the DVD's kept me in stitches during the summer months when the show was on hiatus.I haven't laughed-out-loud, as I do with each episode of BOSTON LEGAL, at a TV show in such a long time; probably since TAXI was on.If you haven't seen the show, you don't know what you're missing.BOSTON LEGAL is the best damned program on TV this year or in many years. It has everything? ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Funny, but missing something......
I thought the first Ice Age was great. This one is good, not great. They really used scrat better this time than before, but the rest of the characters were.....not undeveloped, but it just didn't have as many hilarious situations.Sid is as hilarious as ever, but manny and diego doen't do as much.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's Better The Second Time Around
This was HILLARIOUS!!! This was far better than the first movie. John Leguizamo was brilliant as usual, the perfect voice for Sid. And it was great having the voice of Queen Latifah as Ray Ramano's love interest. This movie was a comedy-lovers delight. And of course the squirrel, Scrat, was genius from day one. Every scene he's in is like watching a great silent movie. That actually requires a lot of skill on behalf of the storytellers and animators to create scenes without dialogue that are equally as entertaining and engaging as those with dialogue. The latter is one reason why the first "Ice Age" film distinguished itself. So the team at Blue Sky Studios should be congratulated. This is a sharp movie. No sophomore slump. I have the first one on DVD and I can't wait to get this incredible sequel. Everything just seems more developed and elaborated upon this time around. Computer-animated films were still in their infancy when the first film got released. But the technological progress that has been made since then is obvious and it's been put to good use throughout the movie. I really enjoyed "Ice Age 2." So if you were a fan of the first one, then don't forget to get the sequel when it hits stores this November.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ice Age: The Meltdown (2.5 stars)
Ice Age: The Meltdown is exactly what it sounds like: the Ice Age is thawing out, a great flood is imminent and the mismatched trio of Manny, Sid and Diego find themselves on another journey together. There is no inner group conflict this time around but rather the conflicts are personal to each character: Manny copes with his fear that he may be the last mammoth, Diego reveals that he has a petrifying fear of water, and Sid feels unappreciated by his peers. When Manny runs into Ellie, the only other mammoth left, who just happens to think she's a possum, he brings her along for the ride with her two possum brothers, Crash and Eddie, as well. The ensuing voyage to get to the end of the valley to escape the flood is completely uninteresting and bland, as are all the jokes and problems they face on the way. The witty dialogue that was present in the first film is sorely lacking here with the only laughs coming from the zany physical antics of Scrat, the prehistoric squirrel, and his never ending quest to get his acorn (it says something about the quality of a movie when the funniest parts come from a comedy formula originating in the ice age itself). Ice Age 2 is more of a letdown than anything, a boring and cliched story of a group of oddballs overcoming their fears and differences to become better "people" in the end. Though a series of shorts featuring Scrat would have been far more consistent and entertaining, Ice Age: The Meltdown's box office intake would indicate that this latest installment probably isn't the last of the franchise and that as long as the next one still has Scrat included, it will be just as big of a success. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Just as good
Season Three keeps up the breakneck pace of the previous two.My only criticism would be that there was no continuity with Kate Warner. It was left very unclear why that relationship did not continue. The return of Nina Myers was an added bonus. It's fiction - kick back and enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars some troubling themes
I love the 24 concept, and the first two seasons were real thrillers.I was looking forward to this season with relish, as was my whole family.Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the lack of creativity in this season. There were also some troubling moral themes.Three things I particularly disliked...(SPOILER WARNING)
4-0 out of 5 stars Good DVDs but Don't Look at the Menus
I like the 24 series, but the DVDs for Seasons 1-4 have a problem that almost every sub-screen for each episode is a spoiler for what will happen in that episode.Even the opening menu sequence for season 3 gave away secrets. So while the show is great, I'd recommend not looking at the scene shots that are part of the DVD menus.I haven't watched Season 5 on DVD, so I'm unsure if it suffers too. ... Editorial Review

It begins with a solemn funeral…for a car. By the end of Chris Paine's lively and informative documentary, the idea doesn't seem quite so strange. As narrator Martin Sheen notes, "They were quiet and fast, produced no exhaust and ran without gasoline." Paine proceeds to show how this unique vehicle came into being and why General Motors ended up reclaiming its once-prized creation less than a decade later. He begins 100 years ago with the original electric car. By the 1920s, the internal-combustion engine had rendered it obsolete. By the 1980s, however, car companies started exploring alternative energy sources, like solar power. This, in turn, led to the late, great battery-powered EV1. Throughout, Paine deftly translates hard science and complex politics, such as California's Zero-Emission Vehicle Mandate, into lay person's terms (director Alex Gibney, Oscar-nominated for Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars theres still a chance to make electric cars
is it going to help get electric cars back on the road again by making a film called who killed the electric car might get them back well maybe in the future but now wor this documentary shows us how much the people cared about them and how this could save the enviromentby not using these big trucks that spread gas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hopefully, the Electric Car Can Be Revived...
This movie exposed some serious problems with industry and government alike and demonstrated why we have made so little progress in reducing our dependence on oil. But it actually also exposed the general apathy that allows these problems to continue. As with the electric car, the movie itself did not generate much interest.
3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, heavily biased
Of course I'd heard of the Electric Vehicle in the same way most people had--as a sideshow prototype thing that presumably is on the roads only as a concept and driven by a scant few people.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Least of All the Seasons To Date, But Still Fine.
While there were still some great episodes in Season 6, it clearly was the least of them all so far (through Season 8, that is).It really felt like for many of the episodes the writing had fallen a notch or more, and worse yet, that Kevin James seemed to be a bit cocky, unprepared, and going through the motions.
4-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing season
Compared to previous seasons, this one just didn't measure up.The obviously pregnant Leah Remini didn't look or fit the part, with bloated face and weight gain.By the time we get to disk 3, she is wearing what looks like full-maternity clothes, which takes something away from the character. Her acting, however, is very good, but, as usual, it is Kevin who steals the show. Somehow, the character of Holly doesn't add much. This season wasn't as funny as prior ones. Maybe they are running out of material. It's sort of sad, as this has been my favorite of all comedy series, and I own every season of this one thusfar.

5-0 out of 5 stars emmy award winners
frankly, I don't know the king of queens has never won an emmy.this is one of the best shows on tv.ALL of the characters are FUNNY!they keep me laughing each time.I have seasons 1-6. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Anyone wanting to get in shape like the stars need go no further than Bryan Kest's home-video workouts. Kest teaches wildly popular yoga classes in Santa Monica, California--so popular that stars like Rhea Perlman, David Duchovny, and Elisabeth Shue willingly sweat alongside the hoi polloi in Kest's packed, ancient loft studio. If you don't happen to be in the neighborhood, not to worry: Kest's yoga videos are nearly as good as being there. Volume 1, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Bryan Kest provides an excellent workout, and unlike other yoga DVDs, each of his three sessions is long enough (about 50 minutes each) to be considered a workout.I love it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very difficult and frustrating for beginners
I recommend you watch the video without exercising a couple of times because the commands are confusing when you are trying to get into the poses."Left foot here, right foot pointing here, breath out, put left hand where right foot used to be then do the hokey pokey without falling over.I imagine it gets easier as you learn them but I found his commands to rapid and poses very hard.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great way to strengthen your mind and body
I'm always looking for ways to strengthen my body without going to the gym... which always leaves me unsatisfied. This yoga practice really pushes your boundaries- both mentally and physically.

4-0 out of 5 stars Finaaaally!!!
This is a fantastic DVD, it sounds awesome (courtesy of Steven Wilson's excellent mix), has a great look, filmed on Hi-Def digital cameras, widescreen format and almost everything you would expect.
4-0 out of 5 stars Close to perfection
Simply put, this is an excellent production by an excellent band. I agree with most of the positive comments in the other reviews. This is a band that clearly knows TASTE. As I have already said in my title, this is a near perfect DVD with rich, clear sound quality. I deduct a star for a few minor quibbles:
5-0 out of 5 stars Something fans of quality music can enjoy!
Porcupine Tree has to be one of the best bands of the past decade.I just recently bought a cd of there's a year ago and have since been blown away by there talent. This dvd is something that critical fans of quality music will enjoy.I am fortunate to own some excellent equipment and the audio quality is top notch. The instruments are very clear and distinguishable. The video quality is not as perfect as you would hope but too me it is acceptable.I am sure they didn't have an unlimited budget and had to spend less somewhere. The video editing is perfect for me.I actually enjoy watching them play.I am not a fan of the Iron Maiden approach of changing screen shots every 2-4 seconds. This is a must buy if you are PT fan. If you never heard of them and are interested in quality progressive rock - this is something that you might want to experiment. I hope this review shed some light and wasn't one of this - "this rocks" - useless reviews. ... Read more
