5-0 out of 5 stars Interjection...HEY! This Is Great For Kids!
Are you a parent now that remembers these from your childhood and you're asking yourself, "Could Schoolhouse Rock! possibly still be as captivatingly educational as it was in the 70s?" or perhaps you're saying to yourself, "These are so dated my kids would never stay tuned." Let's put it this way...This is one of my kids' most requested DVDs (ages three through seven), and they walk around the house singing about nouns, the branches of the government, counting by 5s, electricity and the National 'Tyrannosaurus' Debt.
5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, Educational, and a Touch of Nostalgia
Those of us who grew up as kids in the 80's will remember watching these short animation clips on TV, accompanied by catchy music and memorable lyrics. These cartoonish music videos that lasted less than five minutes somehow managed to teach us concepts that required dedicated lesson plans in school. This is the essence of Schoolhouse Rock.
5-0 out of 5 stars Schoolhouse Rock rocks!
I bought this for my nieces to help them with their math. The songs are just as good as I remember!I didn't know about all the other ones they made after I stopped watching those Saturday morning cartoons. It really is an award winning collection... ... Read more

Tad, Leap, and Lily hop from the pages of the amazingly popular Leap Pad learning toys onto the television screen in this attention grabbing phonics program.Tad's disappointment at being unable to help his family with an important presentation at the letter factory quickly turns to excitement when he meets Professor Quigley and joins each of the letters of the alphabet in their own fun-filled classroom devoted to learning their unique sound.Tad practices karate kicks with the k's, digs the vibes with the cool cat d's drumming on the bongos, and snores peacefully with the z's while learning to recognize each letter and the sound it makes.A catchy, fun song serves as a summation of each letter's "class" and entices even the most reluctant of toddlers (and their parents) to sing each letter's sound. An interactive game follows the program and gives children a chance to practice their newfound skills of recognizing letters and their sounds.Consumers expect great educational products from LeapFrog and this DVD won't disappoint. 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent DVD
I can't say enough good things about this DVD.My son started watching this at about 2 1/2 and he knew the letters and their sounds in a few weeks. Now that he is about to be 3, he still uses the sounds and the sayings from the DVD whenever he sees a particular letter.I have recommended this one to all my friends and family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still watching after over a year
My now 4 year old son and 2 1/2 daughter love this video and I even enjoy it from time to time. They sometimes actually request it over other favorites. When we are outside playing or gardening, we'll sing the song that goes along with the video for extra practice on which letters make which sounds and my son does really good.My daughter however loses interest quickly and goes off to play with something else.Leap Frog has done it again!

Building words is an exciting and empowering experience for youngchildren (and frogs) who have mastered individual letters and their sounds. When young Tad wants to nominate his Dad for a "Best Dad" contest he askshis brother Leap and sister Lily for some help filling out the application. The three young frogs go see Professor Quigley at their Father's TalkingWord Factory for a little instruction and get to watch the"Sticky-ick-o-rama" and the "Word Whammer" machines at work.Tad quicklydiscovers that vowels act as the glue that sticks letters together and thenlearns to combine individual letter sounds to make three-letter words, usecommon ending sounds to create rhyming words, and blend letter sounds tomake even longer rhyming words.Phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and rhyming are entertaining and fun thanks to familiar Leap Padcharacters, colorful animation, and short songs. An interactive wordgame challenges young viewers to fill in the missing first letterin a variety of three-letter words. This program is a great next step forgraduates of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool in helping your little one to read...
If you're thinking of buying this DVD for your 4 or 5 year old DON'T HESITATE!!! This video will be a blessing to your little one. I'm a homeschooling mom and this video has 'turned-on' the light to pre-reading for my [...] year old. I don't like to use the TV as a 'baby sitter' but when I do, this is what I run to. My son has started reading at 4 and I give all the credit to this video! He can point to a letter and make it's sound, then does the same for another two letters and then he puts the sounds together! He can read the words NO, YES, BED, CAT, DOG, MIX, and some others as well. It's just amazing...not only that, but it keeps him entertained too and it's totally clean!!! Buy this DVD and it will help your little one overcome the challenges in pre-reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
These video's are incredible. My [...] is writing out words already... at [...]!My [...] also loves this video. We started the older one at 2 watching "Letter Factory", and as he learned the alphabet he also learned the sounds each letter made.He loves showing off to friends how much he knows.I reccomend the whole video series to anyone with kids ages 1 to 7.

4-0 out of 5 stars good dvd
I use this dvd quite a lot because sometimes it is the only one I have time for. Also, in the morning I can't do too much.I love the morning one with Rodney Yee, he is my favorite. It is very gentle and relaxing but gives a good stretching. Not good if you are wanting a challange. The PM one is good also, more challanging. I know some people have wrote that it didn't put them to sleep and it doesn't.But I don't think that is what it is suppose to do.It relaxes you and relieves stress. Beautiful scenery like all the Gaiam dvds.

4-0 out of 5 stars not bad
Well this is my first yoga video, and i thought it was ok. The AM workout is a bit easy, and there are some moves in the PM that I need to practice. I do think both streches move a little fast, they should hold the poses a bit longer to allow you to catch up. I like it because it is short and I feel pretty good when i am done. I will probably try a couple other vids from others to see how they compare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Starters
This is the very most perfect DVD for anyone wanting to begin a consistent yoga practice.

The best thing about this prenatal yoga program is that there is a modelfor each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches andexercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications forthe second and third trimesters (they're even dressed in different colors foreasy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have aboutthe safety of certain moves--especially in that cumbersome final stage ofpregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Rea and her assistants takeviewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairsfor support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child's pose, plank pose--all with the necessary adjustments. Shewinds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back--thetraditional position--with the second-trimester woman on her side and the thirdon her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations,Rea has made a program with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through herentire pregnancy--and beyond, if she wishes. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I had a wonderful birth!
I used this DVD throughout all of my pregnancy and it was wonderful. It reall taught me to relax and breath. It also helped me stretch my body in ways that were healthy for me and my baby. I had a wonderful birth, naturally and without pain. I feel this DVD was responsible for much of my peaceful birthing experience.

I ordered this product when I was in the middle of my second trimester. I did yoga before my pregnancy but only occassionally. So, I'm not a big practitioner.
5-0 out of 5 stars Om in the Womb
Shiva Rea has an amazing ability to help you find peace and calm during this joyous and sometimes emotionally unstable time. The poses are gentle and flowing and offer a great way to maintain strength and flexibility throughout all three trimesters. I genuinely feel that I am doing something healthy and positive for the baby and me by working out to this video. I highly recommend this video to expecting mothers. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Bryan Kest provides an excellent workout, and unlike other yoga DVDs, each of his three sessions is long enough (about 50 minutes each) to be considered a workout.I love it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Very difficult and frustrating for beginners
I recommend you watch the video without exercising a couple of times because the commands are confusing when you are trying to get into the poses."Left foot here, right foot pointing here, breath out, put left hand where right foot used to be then do the hokey pokey without falling over.I imagine it gets easier as you learn them but I found his commands to rapid and poses very hard.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great way to strengthen your mind and body
I'm always looking for ways to strengthen my body without going to the gym... which always leaves me unsatisfied. This yoga practice really pushes your boundaries- both mentally and physically.

5-0 out of 5 stars This series will leave you speechless!
I have always been a fan of underwater video and scuba diving, but this is absolutely the best above and underwater footage I have ever seen. There is footage here that I have never seen anywhere before. The producers of this series certainly devoted immense time and patience to capture some of the rarest events in nature. In particular, I was spellbound by the coverage of killer whale attacks.
    5-0 out of 5 stars Dazzling, Mind-Expanding
This superb documentary contains drama that is heart wrenching --like the killer whales attacking a baby whale and the mother fighting to defend it.The deep sea chapter is stunning -- the luminous fish of the deep are more fantastic than could be imagined. Run, don't walk to get this and watch it repeatedly!

Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Workout!
This DVD is fantastic. I have tried other power yoga DVD's and have not been able to keep up with it or found them to be relaxing. The workout energizes me and lets me relax into the poses. It flows extremely well and I have no difficulty at all with keeping up with it. It will definitely get your heart pumping and all your muscles moving. My arms and legs have become a lot more shapely thanks to yoga and this DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
This DVD is good for both the beginning and more advanced yoga enthusiasts who want a solid basic home workout. The beginning practice comes first, with simpler poses like the downward facing dog, and then later on the workout becomes more intense.Remember this is POWER yoga and is intended to Make You Sweat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent workout :-O
Rodney Yee is one of the best Yoga instructors out there and so I knew this would be a good dvd that is taught by an experienced and very qualified instructor. It's a great workout and you don't have to be overly advanced in yoga to do this, because you can do the first half, or keep going if you are up to it.He has a calm way of cuing (it's done as a voice over but in a nice pleasant way) and he has used an excellent setting - Hawaii (for some reason I find this also adding to the relaxation factor).

5-0 out of 5 stars wow
This video really gets it done.Nothing to hard to follow and nothing to easy.I really enjoy working out now.It is so inspirational that it makes you just want to get up and get in shape.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great workout
I have been using the tape for a week now. I do both cardio segments and the sculpting one. After just a week I can fit into clothes I bought 4 years ago that I havent been able to fit into. I would give it 5 stars but on my CD the bootcamp segment doesnt work, it takes you thru the warmup and then I get a black screen and it goes back to the main menu. It does it on the custom workout and the 6 week program. I dont want to send it back though because of the price and results I am getting so far. Other then that I highly recommend this video for a great workout and results.

3-0 out of 5 stars Biggest Loser Video
I really enjoyed the video. You get an intensive workout in a short period of time.I also liked that you don't need extra equipment to do the video. My only complaint is that the cardio portion is very hard on the joints. If you don't have joint problems this is a great video. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For Cesar, from Cesar!
Bought this for my wife's b-day. The coolest thing (to us, personally)is that the very first segment is about Cesar dealing with a Chihuahua, of which we have 4! If you are a dog lover than this is just so much fun to watch. Although it is stated that this is not a "how to train your dogs" video, you can actually learn alot from this series. If you are open minded you can see how alot of what he says about the pet owners on his show can apply to you. Further more, this video is good to watch even if you do not own your own dog. Cesar explains alot about general people behavior which can apply if you visit people who have dogs. Your behaviour around dogs can have as much impact on them as their owner's.
5-0 out of 5 stars Learning to Treat Dogs Like Dogs, Not Humans
Cesar Millan has an authentic love for dogs that resonates in this series where he visits people whose dogs have behavioral problems--biting, over-aggression, depression, anxiety, chronic barking, refusal to go on walks, refusal to submit to owner, to name a few--and Cesar shows the dog owners how to instil discipline, consistency, and mastery over their dogs. One thing I learned is that loving a dog as if the dog were a human is first a diservice to the dog and second an act of selfish neediness on the dog owner's part. Dogs have dog needs, Cesar Millan shows, and by giving the dog boundaries and discipline, rather than indulging the dog like a spoiled princess, the dog owner actually makes the dog more happy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Cesar is the MAN
I used to pride myself on my ability to train dogs.As a veterinarian and dog lover, I've done extensive reading, practicing, and preaching the various theories of training dogs.Every dog I owned was impeccably trained - but then I adopted Cariba. Then I learned that I was great at training dogs who were natural followers but our Cariba is a leader!Positive reinforcement, clicker training, gentle leaders - none were effective with this type of dog.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great-but I wish the producers could develop a slower paced, more simplistic video for preschoolers/developmetally delayed kids
Thanks for making this wonderful video. My four year old son did understand some of the important messages. For example when I asked him what to do if someone asked him to,"come with me and I'll give you some Disney car toys," he actually yelled, "run." (he loves Disney Pixar car toys).
5-0 out of 5 stars Really Good Video
As a father of an 11 year-old, this was a really excellent purchase we made a couple of years ago.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good for kids 5 and up
My four year old was very distracted by the dog and gorilla, and the pace of the movie was too fast for him.He didn't "get it" and he couldn't talk coherently about the three types of people (don't knows, kinda knows, etc) after watching it.The humor was too bizarre and too distracting. It's probably very good for older kids, though. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars We love Elmo!
My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this movie. She asks for it everyday. She has also shown a much increased intrest in the potty since seeing this, although she is not yet potty trained. I am quite surprised by the negative reviews here. The movie does cater to a large audience by covering ways different families say potty terms. I also like all of the different clips that talk about other aspects of potty training like flushing and washing our hands. Those are also things our little ones are learning. If you love Sesame Street, you'll love this!

1-0 out of 5 stars Lame, Lame, Lame
Although Elmo's World videos tend to be pretty reliable in quality, other Sesame Street videos featuring Elmo can range from great to absolutely dreary.I'm sorry to report that this belongs to the latter group.
1-0 out of 5 stars SAVE YOUR MONEY
I agree with the other reviewers.THERE IS LITTLE IF ANY POTTY TRAINING CONTENT.Elmo and friends just chants "potty is good", "potty is cool", etc. throughout the overly long video. Can you really convince a toddler who has always been in diapers that just because "potty is cool" to go pee/poop in the toilet?I think not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love this Workout!
Denise definitely targets "ALL" of your female fat zones from your butt, thighs, front and back arms, love handles, upper tummy and lower tummy. If you use this video plus a cardio workout, you will definitely see the results of a slimmer you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed!
I'm a mom of 2 kids and finding time for a workout is really a problem. With Denise's workouts which are quick and fun, I get to finish it to the last minute and I feel very accomplished!I've tried Taebo but I feel like a loser towards the end when I don't finish it coz of time constraints and difficulty.I definitely recommend this for those like me who has less time and who's just starting an exercise routine. This is worth it!A great workout video indeed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout
This workout will get you reslts.I did it for about a month and was completely toned. I wasnt that out of shape to begin with but it certainly worked its magic quickly.I would say its a bit difficult to get through... what I like is that even after youve done it for a month its still somewhat of a challenge to finish. The areas worked are exactly where women need it, you wont be disapointed.I dont mind her personally either. Its a bit much but when your doing a difficult workout it can be a welcome boost. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars love it!
I'm giving this 5 stars, although it should be said this is the first workout video I've tried so I don't really have anything to compare it to.But I bought it because I had tried pilates briefly awhile ago and enjoyed it, and I wanted to strenghten my whole body.I have 3 kids and only a spare 20 minutes or so out of a whole day; I've been using this dvd at night when they'e asleep.I really really like it.The moves aren't easy, but they are doable and I can feel it working. The next day, even after the first time I did it, I feel like I'm standing straighter.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fun way to workout
This is a really fun workout for me. I tend to go for Pilates/Yoga blends and I thought this one was unique with the additional cardio component. I definitely "felt" the exercises, some were challenging (strength-wise for me) but I could still follow along without difficulty. I thought the instructor was perky and easy to follow. I think this workout would appeal to a wide audience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice blend
I enjoyed this workout.I love yoga for its awakening of the muscles and concentrated breathing, but it was my first experience with pilates.I enjoyed the mix because it gave my abs and biceps a workout, you get to reward your muscles w/nice stretches, and the 40 minutes went by quickly.I feel the pilates and yoga were blended well in this workout - great for beginner in either. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Namaste
I loved Yoga Shakti very much. There were 2 DVDs and a booklet inside the case and the first DVD contained all 4 yoga workouts like Basic Flow, Solar Flow 1, Solar Flow 2 and Lunar Flow. Shiva Rea performs all of these vinyasa flow practices alone on the gorgeous beaches of Maldives'Island and Kerala, India. The extra archival footage included of Indian festivals and practices in temples is also a nice surprise. This DVD is definitely worth every penny.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good to watch and great music - not good to practice yoga
I bought this DVD based on Shiva Rea's strong reputation and some amazon reviews, however, I am extremely disappointed.I like the concept of a customized DVD practice but it's not really practical. You spend too much time trying to watch the video while your head should be facing down or up in the poses.Impossible to follow along with out some verbal clues. In addition, you also spend too much time fiddling with the remote if you do want to customize your practice. How "yogic" is that? Almost the antithesis of vinyasa flow.Ideally, you should start a video and then become totally immersed in your practice as if the video is not there - not stop and start and strain your neck.At some point you should never even "watch" the video while doing yoga, just listen and practice. This is impossible with this format.Too bad, because it is very beautiful, has fabulous music and a wonderful spiritual slant in the introduction.A huge disappointment for an experienced yogini and would be even more so for a beginner. Buy the music only or the gorgeous Shiva-designed yoga clothes and do your own practice. Namaste.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing!
I wish the cover had not looked so interesting. It made the dvd seem so promising. I found this boring and when it is not boring it is just too hard to follow. I found the matrix too complicated too. I also did not like all the "yoga speak". Another thing that bothers me: with many of these "star" teachers - it seems the focus of their dvds is more on them - then creating a user friendly workout. It seems, as others have pointed out, a bit self-idolizing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Potty Training!
My son is 2 1/2 and has no real interest in usng the potty although we talk about it all of the time. :) But when he watches this DVD, he answers the questions, sings the songs, and "gets" the Big Kid concept... AND has begun using the potty. He is more likely to use the potty after watching the video, but heck, it's a start! The songs are catchy, the stories are cute...I think it was well thought-out and well done. I mean, this is a potty video, what can you really expect?

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW what a difference
My son is 2 years 4 months and has never shown anything but resistence towards potty training. I purchased this movie about two weeks ago. My son loves the songs and walks around singing them. (Even my 13 month old stops to watch it.) He asks for this movie all the time! He has since gone pee pee in his potty chair and frequently asks to sit on the BIG potty. I am very impressed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fine for girls, not great for boys
First of all, this video is only about 25 minutes long, so there's not a lot of room for content.I bought this for my 2.5 year-old son, and we were all disappointed. The "Princess and the Potty" story held NO interest for him at all, so the video is even shorter in our house. Also, there's no discussion about accidents, boys standing to pee, or other issues that need to be covered for training. If you have a boy, I suggest thinking about a different video, such as "It's Potty Time!" or the Elmo potty video. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Deliriously wonderful film
First up, I am not into ballet, or at least not very much. It's never been an artform that has grabbed me, with occasional exceptions. However, this documentary is one of the most beautiful, charming, witty and moving films I have ever seen (and I'm old, so that says a lot). The performers - some of them now in their 90's and still hale - are remarkable, and the ease with which the filmmaker moves through the history of these amazing two companies of artists is a joy to behold.I saw this on a whim in the theater when it first came out; I laughed at some of the dancers' memories, cried at the sheer beauty of the historic footage, and came out feeling wonderful about life and the magic that is performance art at its very best.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Superlative Insight and History of the Ballet Russes
Once in a while a documentary sheds such inner light on the subject matter and the characters that it becomes an art film, a story, a novel, a memento.Such is the case with BALLET RUSSES.This tender, touching, humorous, and exactingly real look at the history of ballet in the hands of the expatriated Russians in Europe in the early part of the 20th century to the reformation of the troop after the death in 1929 by master Impresario Diaghilevunfolds through the words and movements of those who experienced it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Movie for Ballet Fans!
