4-0 out of 5 stars Over the Hedge is a really cute movie.
I wasn`t aware that `Over the Hedge' is based on a comic strip. I've never seen it, but I can only imagine that it would be just as good as the film, if not better. And while it's not an astonishment, I can say that Hedge is genuinely enjoyable, and great fun for everyone.
4-0 out of 5 stars Why So Short?
I rented this on DVD Tuesday, 10/18/2006 from Blockbuster.Arriving home, I immediately popped it in my Family Room DVD player and started playing it for my son and daughter! My son loved it!It was cute, funny, and full of Chipmunk cheer!I thought CJ was adorable!
5-0 out of 5 stars Hammie on Caffine, One of the highlights of animation in the lastyear!!!
This movie is at times side splitting funny.RJ, a lonely racoon with a taste for processed human food gets himself in a pinch with a bear that want's nothing but RJ's pelt if he doesn't get his food back.In trying to get the food that he ruined back, RJ learns a valuable lesson that their are bigger things ins life other than material goods, and mainly, that is family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Interjection...HEY! This Is Great For Kids!
Are you a parent now that remembers these from your childhood and you're asking yourself, "Could Schoolhouse Rock! possibly still be as captivatingly educational as it was in the 70s?" or perhaps you're saying to yourself, "These are so dated my kids would never stay tuned." Let's put it this way...This is one of my kids' most requested DVDs (ages three through seven), and they walk around the house singing about nouns, the branches of the government, counting by 5s, electricity and the National 'Tyrannosaurus' Debt.
5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, Educational, and a Touch of Nostalgia
Those of us who grew up as kids in the 80's will remember watching these short animation clips on TV, accompanied by catchy music and memorable lyrics. These cartoonish music videos that lasted less than five minutes somehow managed to teach us concepts that required dedicated lesson plans in school. This is the essence of Schoolhouse Rock.
5-0 out of 5 stars Schoolhouse Rock rocks!

5-0 out of 5 stars How do I play The Royal LIfe ?
I love the movie! I just have one problem. I can't seem to be able to play The Royal Life from Disc 2? I put it in my computer and clicked on The Royal Life and it just gives me a summary of what it's about and then tells me to insert the dvd-rom. Does someone know how to do this?

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Cinderella is the film that saved the Walt Disney Company.
5-0 out of 5 stars Walt Disney's Best Movie
Disney made its mark as a major studio in 1937 with its first full-length feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Ironically, given this early success, Snow White was their only hit movie for the next 13 years. World War II kicked the hell out of Disney's overseas markets. Even movies today regarded as classic Disney - Pinnochio, Bambi, Fantasia - lost money on initial release. Disney eked through by diversifying into training films for the US government, and the South American films that were part of FDR's Good Neighbor policy, etc. - stuff that made back its costs but not much more. By 1948, Disney was in dire financial straits. They had just enough money for one more movie. Walt Disney realized he needed a hit or his studio probably wouldn't survive, and it would have to be what they did best: a full-length animated feature film. Walt said to himself, "What we need is a movie about a girl in trouble. Audiences love that. They loved Snow White." That's what he wanted: a movie like Snow White, but even more so - more comedy, more drama, more magic, more music, more lovable characters. He chose as the basis of his company's Hail Mary pass arguably the most famous fairy tale in the world: Cinderella.

Disney's 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there's an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams's frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin's genie. Even if one isn't particularly moved by the love story between the title character (Scott Weinger) and his girlfriend Jasmine (Linda Larkin), you can easily get lost in Williams's improvisational energy and the equally entertaining performances of Freeman and Gilbert Gottfried (as Jafar's parrot). 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Disney Fun For The Whole Family. Great Story, Wonderful Voice Cast And Classic Songs Make This A Diamond In The Rough.
Walt Disney Pictures struck gold yet again (as they've done since 1937, when Walt Disney released the comnpany's first animated feature film "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs") with another delightful animated family film, a classic alongside "Beauty And The Beast," "The Lion King," "Toy Story" and many other Disney favorites. The story is timeless, like "Beauty And The Beast" and "The Lion King" so I won't summarize it. "Come on down, stop on by. Hop a Carpet And Fly To Another Arabian Night." Be prepared to discover "A Diamond In The Rough." The special features (beginning on Disc 1 and continued on Disc 2), along with the movie, are "A treasure-trove of riches" destined to please everyone. The voice cast includes Linda Larkin, Scott W., Jonathan Freeman, Gilbert Gottfried and Robin Williams. I love this movie. Rated G.

Disney has announced that in January the Lady and the Tramp DVD will be put into the vault!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Romantic of All Disney Films
I fell in love with this movie when I was little, back in 1955 when "Lady and the Tramp" first came to the theaters, and am probably one of the few who can actually remember seeing the promo show, "The Story of Dogs" on the old Disneyworld TV series from the early 50's.I actually had the rare privildge of being taken twice! To this day, it remains my all-time favorite Disney film, favorite dog film, and continues to charm, amuse, and move me to tears.
5-0 out of 5 stars Romantic Comedy Goes to the Dogs
Lady and the Trap has been an enduring Disney classic for 50 years now and it's amazing how well it holds up after all that time. The hand painted animation is beautiful and the story and music are top notch. This film is an example of Disney animation at its classic best.

Tad, Leap, and Lily hop from the pages of the amazingly popular Leap Pad learning toys onto the television screen in this attention grabbing phonics program.Tad's disappointment at being unable to help his family with an important presentation at the letter factory quickly turns to excitement when he meets Professor Quigley and joins each of the letters of the alphabet in their own fun-filled classroom devoted to learning their unique sound.Tad practices karate kicks with the k's, digs the vibes with the cool cat d's drumming on the bongos, and snores peacefully with the z's while learning to recognize each letter and the sound it makes.A catchy, fun song serves as a summation of each letter's "class" and entices even the most reluctant of toddlers (and their parents) to sing each letter's sound. An interactive game follows the program and gives children a chance to practice their newfound skills of recognizing letters and their sounds.Consumers expect great educational products from LeapFrog and this DVD won't disappoint. I can't say enough good things about this DVD.My son started watching this at about 2 1/2 and he knew the letters and their sounds in a few weeks. Now that he is about to be 3, he still uses the sounds and the sayings from the DVD whenever he sees a particular letter.I have recommended this one to all my friends and family.

Pixar Studios have done it again. I have to say that these guys are totally good in computer animation, as well as in storytelling. Rarely do those qualities come together but here they are, delivering unto the audience once again something that one can only be drowned with wonder. Such is the marvel of Finding Nemo.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a charming and playful Halloween story that adults and kids will love. Bing Crosby's smooth tones are the perfect accompaniment for this old-fashionied cartoon - perfect for snuggling under the covers on a dark, rainy night! 5-0 out of 5 stars A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production. No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.
2-0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast
Yep, Disney animation. All my students see this movie at some point between leaving high school and when I meet them as university students. Sometimes, their Chinese university teachers show it to them in class. So, I thought I'd see why they love it so much. I'm still wondering. This is a two-page short story, not a film. But on the bright side, if you skip all the songs it's under an hour. I've never enjoyed a singing toon in my life. ... Read more

Building words is an exciting and empowering experience for youngchildren (and frogs) who have mastered individual letters and their sounds. When young Tad wants to nominate his Dad for a "Best Dad" contest he askshis brother Leap and sister Lily for some help filling out the application. The three young frogs go see Professor Quigley at their Father's TalkingWord Factory for a little instruction and get to watch the"Sticky-ick-o-rama" and the "Word Whammer" machines at work.Tad quicklydiscovers that vowels act as the glue that sticks letters together and thenlearns to combine individual letter sounds to make three-letter words, usecommon ending sounds to create rhyming words, and blend letter sounds tomake even longer rhyming words.Phonemic awareness, vocabulary building, and rhyming are entertaining and fun thanks to familiar Leap Padcharacters, colorful animation, and short songs. An interactive wordgame challenges young viewers to fill in the missing first letterin a variety of three-letter words. This program is a great next step forgraduates of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool in helping your little one to read...
If you're thinking of buying this DVD for your 4 or 5 year old DON'T HESITATE!!! This video will be a blessing to your little one. I'm a homeschooling mom and this video has 'turned-on' the light to pre-reading for my [...] year old. I don't like to use the TV as a 'baby sitter' but when I do, this is what I run to. My son has started reading at 4 and I give all the credit to this video! He can point to a letter and make it's sound, then does the same for another two letters and then he puts the sounds together! He can read the words NO, YES, BED, CAT, DOG, MIX, and some others as well. It's just amazing...not only that, but it keeps him entertained too and it's totally clean!!! Buy this DVD and it will help your little one overcome the challenges in pre-reading.

Not an ideal choice for younger kids, this hip and violent animated feature from Disney was nevertheless a huge smash in theaters and on video, and it continues to enjoy life in an acclaimed Broadway production. The story finds a lion cub, son of a king, sent into exile after his father is sabotaged by a rivalrous uncle. The little hero finds his way into the "circle of life" with some new friends and eventually comes back to reclaim his proper place. Characters are very strong, vocal performances by the likes of Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg are terrific, the jokes are aimed as much (if not more) at adults than kids, the animation is sometimes breathtaking, and the music is more palatable than in many Disney features. But be cautious: this is too intense for the

4-0 out of 5 stars Monarchies tend to create dysfunctional families.
Disney's "The Lion King" is a pretty good movie about a young lion cub, named Simba, who is to become king of a place called Pride Rock located in the appropriately named Pride Lands. I always thought that the part where Simba's father, Mufasa, is killed by his brother, Scar, was kind of tough to watch. On the other hand, from a historical standpoint, scenarios like these were at some point a commoplace reality, all because of an intense desire for power. The most memorable part of the film is the scene where Scar turns on the hyenas, to whom he'd referred as the "real enemy," then tries to make up with them right afterwards by calling them his "friends." The best part was the subsequent reaction by the hyenas to his double crossing.
5-0 out of 5 stars il'd love to give this 20 out of 5 stars
this movie was incredable. i don't understand how people can dislike this film. this movie's deep and intense story made it great for children AND their parents, a feat rarely accomplished. but rather than stay depressing and traumatizing, this film goes from drama to side-splitting humor within 13 seconds. the best part is that this is all done with seemless perfection.
1-0 out of 5 stars dont mess with classics
I give the original 5 stars, but why is disney taking all its classics and adding new songs to it? i was so dissapointed when i rented this and there were new scenes in it. i dont want "new and improved" i want the original, the one i watched when i was younger. ... Read more

Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag, Linus awaits a visitation from the Great Pumpkin in his terribly sincere pumpkin patch (while the adoring little Sally sits tight with him), Snoopy falls asleep, Lucy harasses Schroeder, and Pig-Pen kicks up a dust storm even beneath his costume in this classic television broadcast. Funny stuff, but also graced with Charles Schultz's more poignant and gently satiric themes from the 1960s on the influence of faith, failure, and hope in our lives. Read more

Another true classic Peanuts from Charles Shultz where Linus believes in the Great Pumpkin and will rise in the pumpkin patch and give toys to all of the good boys and girls. It's funny how Sally yelled at him because she missed Halloween for her sweet ba-boo!!!Also, you have to love Snoopy's performance as the Red Baron.Gotta love it!!! 5 stars all the way!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Oh, Great Pumpkin! Where ARE you?"
This delightful Halloween classic is one of my all-time favorite Peanuts specials! Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and Sally were never more charming as they are in this feature!

For the most part you already know the story from reading the rest of the reviews and summaries.
1-0 out of 5 stars For fans of Miyazaki, NOT for fans of the book
I was very excited about this film as a fan of both the book and Ghibli Studios previous works. All the greater the disappointment then, when less than half way through the story becomes something utterly unrecognizable from the original and several characters lose all their complex charm. What a shame.

It always comes up when people are comparing their most traumatic movie experiences: "the death of Bambi's mother," a recollection that can bring a shudder to even the most jaded filmgoer. That primal separation (which is no less stunning for happening off-screen) is the centerpiece of Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Animated Films of All Time
If film makers could figure out how to make a film like "Bambi" every time, the art of film making would be just that; an art."Bambi" is a tale that is for children. However, that tale contains every element present in the life of a typical child: friendship, love, parental protection, loss, fear of the unknown, and, of course, growing up.I am still astonished at how a film that clocks in at 69 minutes can capture the essence of life.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Movie Ever!
They worked very hard on bambi. Its not like the new movies. The animators work hard to make it good.Efforts the key.And the dvd has great bonus features. And the movie itself is way better on dvd.The sound is 5.3.The best sond.Especially when you hae a sterio. They remastered it great. They didnt just rush and put it on.So you would love this movie.Especially on platinum edition. So I highly reccomend Bambi the best Disney film ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite

5-0 out of 5 stars Quenching that yearning for learning through entertainment
The Magic School Bus created some of the finest products for instruction, while completely disguising this fact to many of its young learners. Children exposed to the vast array of offerings in the field of science at young ages are still in possession of this information today. The original manner in which the students contribute information via their personalities and curiosity mix with our children's own natural instinctive curiosity about the world in which we live. Topics from this series include concepts as specific as mold and the manner in which it can help and hinder us, to as broad as the vast solar system, and systems beyond. Bugs, Bugs, Bugs is a title uniquely dedicated to the many insects and their many purposes common to our world. The only downside is that the series has apparently long been discontinued.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved It
My son got this for his 4th birthday and he watches it over and over.He just loves this series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
All the magic school bus movies are great and so much information. Both my [...] boy and my [...] girl love them and so do I.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Show Especially For Baby Boomers
I have been an Adult Swim viewer since Space Ghost CTC's early days. The Venture Brothers is probably my favorite of them all (The Brak Show was a riot also). I am in my 40's and so I can relate to all the jokes on the stuff I grew up on (Marvel, DC, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo, etc). The formula started with SGCTC taking mundane kids 60's-70's shows and tossing them in adult situations filled with lots of sexual references (many homosexual), uber violence for violence's sake, profanity (beeped out but you know what they are saying), well you get my drift (think excrement jokes). It's Ted Turner in his old coot liberal ways taking everything that was semi American of good vs. bad in cartoons, and screwing it all to hell. But despite the same formula over and over (SGCTC, Harvey Birdman AAL, The Brak Show, Robot Chicken, Aqua Team Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and probably some others I missed), I still watch and laugh, with The Venture Brothers being the best of them all. One thing that I really laugh about is that the teens and gen X'ers watching have little or no reference for where these jokes are coming from, they are just laughing at the situations and don't get the parody. I tried to tell a co-worker (whose 25 years old) about a Robot Chicken bit about Hogan's Heroes and he never heard of that show! I'm glad The Venture Brothers has got a strong audience, so thanks you young ignorant types for watching! I'm in baby boomer delight!

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Team Venture!
This set just rocks, came arcoss it through a friend, and been hooked ever since!

5-0 out of 5 stars Scuba's a funny word. Scuba.
Well, to say this is a worthless review would seem like a noteworthy thing to say. Seeing as how there's already near 90 other 5 star reviews about The Venture Bros...the best cartoon on television at the moment.

Editorial Review

Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. Read more

Editorial Review

There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys reawaken the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.Read more
