5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet
Season 3 of The L-Word is by far the best yet.
4-0 out of 5 stars Reviews give away show
I've enjoyed watching the series, and have been waiting for the third season to come out so I could watch it.For those of you like me who hadn't seen any of the third season, be careful which reviews you read. The review titled "Descent" basically gives the whole story line of season three, character by character. It was a bummer for me since I'd managed to stay away from that information so far.
5-0 out of 5 stars It is so absorbing
This show touches my life because I identify with the characters. In some cases, I act like them. In other cases, I want to be like them. And in most cases, I want to be with them. This season made me cry. It made my girlfriend cry and then I took a poll of my viewing friends and found they cried, too. A little embarrassing and pathetic to admit crying to a tv series, but hey, it is well done because it reaches out of the screen and touches those interested viewers. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What the???
I am a huge fan of this show so when I found out that the episodes were CLIPPED i was furious. It's not even subtle! It is completely noticable as some of my favorite episodes had hilarious portions completely removed. I don't what the deal is with the slow release schedule and the lack of legitimate bonus features is ridiculous. I'm really upset and hope they rerelease this with UNEDITED episodes. GEEZ!

2-0 out of 5 stars Episodes still great despite a scandalous DVD release
I couldn't believe that so many episodes were cut. AND really, how dumb is it to have Deborah Harry's appearance in the episode guide on the box and then to cut out her scene? I liked this season a lot but LIONSGATE should really be ashamed. For me, it is particularly annoying because I have never seen the full-length episodes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great season
I loved watching this season again on DVD, I just wish it didn't take forever for it to be released! The shows are cut, they are the same length as the TV ones, but the comedy is so good and funny that I really don't care. This is the first season that wasn't like the last 4, they made changes, and they had too, the same format and lines were not going to last another season, and I think they did a great job. I think it was funnier than the previous four seasons. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Queer as Folk Third /season
What can I say except that I am a heterosexual woman who has purchased the entire series of Queer as Folk, and for the main reason of the characters in this series....I am a completely open minded person and believe that everyone is created equal regardless of their preferences in life..I have enjoyed this series because the characters are amazing and you can't help but to fall in love with them yourself. This series touches on many subjects that we all deal with on a day to day basis, however it opens your eyes to the ignorance that a gay person has to deal with all because of who they love..I will never promote predjudice or ignorance in my home, and this series has truly given me a whole new look on life...I fell in love with all the characters, however my absolute favorite is Emmit. I recommend this series to everyone who is open minded. It is a feel good and a tear jerker all rolled up in one...My hat is off to the cast and the producer of this series..Only thing I wish, is that it didn't end..

4-0 out of 5 stars Hot show!
I have some gay friends, and it's sad to feel the discrimination against the gay people, It's nice to see there is such production (Queer as Folk, The L word)to show the life of gay people which is the same as "normal" people. QAF was a groundbreaking show and i didn't have a chance to see it when i was in States back then, I couldn't stop myself watching since the season 1 DVD, and kept purchasing the series DVD from Amazon.com (nice international service)

4-0 out of 5 stars Breezy comedy based on gay comic strip
"The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green" (2005) is a very light romantic comedy which does a commendable job in capturing the whimsical nature of Ethan Orner's syndicated comic strip on which it is loosely based. Ethan is the twentysomething gay everyman, always stumbling into new relationships that he quickly abandons because he feels something is missing. His living situation is also up in the air, as his lesbian roommate and he have to find a new place, since Leo (his ex-boyfriend) is selling the house, which he owns. His mother (played by Meridith Bazter) is a gay wedding planner, who lives with another one of Ethan's ex-boyfriends.Most of his friends all joke about his bad luck with men. Then there are the "Hat Sisters" ... two older gay men (Veteran character actors Joel Brooks and Richard Riehle, in scene steeling roles)who dress in drag and carry out daring political activism.
3-0 out of 5 stars Cute and fun and works mostly because of its star Daniel Letterle.
Here it is again - every gay stereotype imaginable. But that doesn't mean that The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green isn't watchable, or even entertaining. The film is habitually bright and fast paced - even if it does stall a little bit in the second act - and has a lot of zingy gay humor, mostly in the form of a lot of acerbic one-liners.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Job of Bringing the Comic Strip to Life
The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green brings to life Eric Ormer's long-running comic strip of the same name.Although it took a lot of choices to create an eighty-eight minute movie out of sixteen years of comic strips, the result does capture the social whirl, the promise, and the despair of Ethan Green's life.

5-0 out of 5 stars it's about time
It's about time Piper Perabo was in a decent movie since her embarrassing 'Lost and Delirious' ages ago. Get this movie.

3-0 out of 5 stars Love at first sight I do believe but as for this film I do not.
This movie was okay but felt that it could have been so much better. The basic concept of the film; Rachel (Piper Perabo) married Heck (Matthew Goode) and on her wedding day falls in love with Lucy (Lena Headey), was a new and exciting concept that should have been used to show the audience that love is good, in any form and between any two people. Instead, it said that love should be gone after at any cost; whether you hurt those you care about or not. To me that sent a not so good message. I never felt the chemistry between Rachel and Lucy, or any sympathy towards them and their love. Instead, I spent the entire movie thinking of Rachel as selfish and irresponsible, not good feelings to have towards your main character.
4-0 out of 5 stars very enjoyable and definately catchy tunes
wow - didn't expect to like this one as much.Piper Perabo and girl meets girl with no tragedy, the guy gets dumped and survives to find better things, happiness and love. Check it out its a cute flick. The steamy scenes could have been a bit more, but all in all cute flick ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A charming tale of forbidden love
Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger (in that order) give a great performance in this Hollywood epic tale of forbidden love. With this movie you get all the best of Hollywood technology, scenery, audio, video, casting and acting. The story in my opinion gets a little long and drawn out, losing some of it's appeal potential. It consists of a 20 year relationship of two cowboys who fall in love in 1963 while herding sheep together in Wyoming. These two break the rules wherever necessary to share their romance known only to them and their clueless wives who eventually figure it out but don't know how to bring up the subject. As their marriages become strained over the years, their love for each other continues to grow, but can never become the full time relationship they crave. The story could have in my opinion been written much better for a screenplay. I think most anyone could have written a better ending for this saga, but that is nothing new for Hollywood. No matter how many millions of dollars they spend to make the perfect movie, none of them seem to know how to end one. If the subject matter of this film offends you, you WILL NOT want to see this one. Although it never gets explicitly graphic with the sex scenes, there's enough there to offend opponents of such film subject matter. All in all, I enjoyed the movie on DVD. I do not have a widescreen television, but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on this widescreen version. Perhaps someone with a widescreen could better review this version. Beautiful scenery from Wyoming and mostly Canada. Great nostalgic representation. I recommend watching Brokeback Mountain if you are into gay romance. It is thought provoking and realistic for the era it represents.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost a masterpiece, but not for everybody's taste...
I found this a little too long, a little too slow, a little too sad to rate five stars. Worth seeing once, it is an honorable effort to portray the power of forbidden love between two modern-day cowboys who would obviously vote Republican on all but gay issues, and perhaps even on some of those. Now that the film is a couple of years old, I think it is safe to reveal that one of the leads does not survive the film. That was the most disappointing part...we come to care about the men, yet one passes from this world with only the briefest of depictions. I was surprised it did not win the Oscar as best film, but the awards were given out before I saw the movie. Now that I have seen it, I think it can be fairly called one of the ten best films of its year, and one of the three most talked about, but not deserving of the top honor for its season. Good performances for sure, but the script could have used some trimming and some punch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost love ... but reality strikes!

4-0 out of 5 stars campy guilty pleasure
I expected a dramatic black QAF but it was campy queens in LA instead. Imagine a dramatic black Will and Grace cast...but with mostly mellow Jack characters. I didn't think I liked the show till I got to the middle of the second episode. I fell in love with the cast and the series turned out to be a guilty pleasure. I was disappointed that the 3rd DVD didn't have any episodes. It is ashort season. Make more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Television
I watched season 1 over the summer. My brother brought over the DVD set and I couldn't tear my eyes away. The charachters on this show have great chemistry and the plot always keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next.I love how the story unravels between Noah and Wade. The charachter development amongst Noah, Alex, Chance and Ricky is well written and brillantly acted out in each episode.Noah's Arc has a fan for life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved the DVD!!
I wasn't able to watch the show on the LOGO channel and eagerly anticipated the arrival of my DVD when I ordered it last week.

At last, a show that is about lesbians for lesbians. The show is well written, well acted, and the best production values.I can not reccomend this show enough.Absolutely love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING TV!
Appeals to every imaginable demographic: gay women, gay men, staight women, straight men--and probably everyone else in between!

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth a look, but still disappointing
I purcahsed Season 1 of The L Word on a whim after passing it in a store one day, and recalling both the controversy and glowing reviews surrounding it when it was first screened on television. As a straight young woman of 19 who has had very little contact with homosexual people throughout her life, I found it to be a lovely surprise - a refreshing combination of great acting from a well-rounded cast, characters that were sufficiently fleshed out in order for the viewer to grow to care about them, and clever writing. I found that I was able to relate to these characters and their trials and tribulations despite our differences in sexual orientation. Perhaps most importantly, Season 1 of The L Word contained the perfect amount of both humour and poignance - a quality that I love in all of my favourite TV shows.

This movie is populated with very real citizens of small-town Texas. Hilarious! Beautifully written and deeply moving. The actors and the author pull no punches.Olivia Newton-John says it all with the title song.

Never heard of this movie. Some of my favorites never got any press. Silly, not preachy, low budget, but good production quality. Everyone but the Religious Right should like this film.
5-0 out of 5 stars Certainly is a 'hoot'
The first word that comes to mind after watching this movie is 'bizarre', but in a realistic way. The characters are not that far fetched, especially where I live. I laughed until I cried! Also, there hasn't been a transvestite played so well since Tootsie, and I think this surpassed Dustin Hoffman's cross dressing character. The actors and actresses took their roles in this film and ran with them! Bravo!!!

There is lot's of issues on this season that make being a gay a lot more easier. I like the thing about gay parenting, because I am gay, and will one day be a father. The gay football player (played by Alec McClure), was wonderful. Esera Tuaolo was one of the very few NFL players to come out. So it was nice for this show to a have a situation like that. Alec was also sexy as hell, which I loved.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Must-See
I'm a huge fan of independent films in general, and gay indies in particular. Anyone else who knows the genre knows that while many scripts have excellent stories...many of the movies fall short. But as with all indie genres...there will always be a core of brilliant directors/writers/actors who can take any story and turn it into something unforgettable. Latter Days did this brilliantly.
5-0 out of 5 stars Just a mass of dots, but somehow they're all connected, and it's beautiful
Let me begin by saying that I highly dislike a mixture of religion and sex in any film. Personally I think it's tacky, even when the religion in question is one I do not agree with, such as mormonism. In spite of this, this film is a must-see! I totally fell in love with Steve Sandvoss in "Latter Days". The fresh innocence and wisdom of the young character he portrays, adds to this film a whole new realm of thought provoking grandeur and meaning. Wes Ramsey plays the part of Christian, a young nelly boy wholly engulfed in the gay lifestyle and going from one one-night-stand to another, viewing his sex life as one long fun adventure with no need for meaning. Aaron (Sandvoss) is living a totally different life as a Mormon Missionary, rooted deep in his beliefs in God and eternal life. Through his faithfulness to his beliefs, he has grown in wisdom that everything in life has a purpose and is not to be taken for granted. On a bet, Christian begans to try seducing Aaron but gets more than he bargains for. In his quest to seduce Aaron, he becomes quite attracted to him, but Aarons outlook on life and harsh criticism for Christians happy-go-lucky lifestyle prompts him to re-examine the whole purpose for his life. Aaron is on the verge of having his first sexual experience with Christian. He is battling between giving in to desire and holding to his beliefs. Christian tells hims not to worry, it doesn't have to mean anything, just a little fun between friends. Aaron is not amused at the suggestion and is turned off by it. "My first time would be nothing more to you than just a little fun?" Suddenly it becomes a question of just whom might be converting whom. The life of both characters must change because of their having met one another. Picture and sound quality are great, as is the casting for this movie. The acting is superb and you will certainly find yourself captivated as you watch to see where the story will end. There is one unsettling implication that one's beliefs can be cast off and totally changed through a romp in the hay, so to speak, but the story line takes it far beyond to a conclusion that must meet somewhere in the middle for these two totally opposite characters. I recommend this movie but warn you, somewhere along the way you will be challenged by the one lifestyle, or the other.

5-0 out of 5 stars Been there, been through that
This movie brings to light for me the all too painful memories of my Past, Pocatello Idaho, and my experience as a Mormon Missionary in Norway.

    5-0 out of 5 stars A 4-star movie with a 5-star ending
This was a great little movie. It wasn't a stand out in the genre, but it had all the elements it should have had; a great lead cast, clever and funny writing, and most importantly, a good story.Where it lacked, and lacked badly, is in the supporting cast.Chris Kattan and Parker Posey were the weak links in both acting and story line, and in my opinion cost the movie a 5th star.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Movie Rocks!
Who said a comedy cannot be serious!Even though I was laughing my butt off during 'Adam & Steve', my heart also jumped. It was a beautiful love story of two men that met in the 80's and come full circle to present day.The acting is superb, the comic timing is genuious.Parker Posey is at her best as fat and thin!
3-0 out of 5 stars Missed opportunity
This film could have very well succeeded as a charming romantic gay comedy but it tries to go in so many directions that it winds up being a disappointment. It starts out along the lines of a John Waters film but the crude bathroom humor is so disgusting thatmany viewers may not be able to continue with it. Many of the gay bashing jokes fall flat and Parker Posey is wasted here and her character (a really bad stand-up comic) is painful to watch. On the other hand, half of the film is very enjoyable. It finally gets on track in the second half, but by that time it is just too late to make ammends. The two lead actors are good and most of the supporting actors are great - Sally Kirkland is very funny in a cameo and the "family" scenes are pretty funny. Better planning and editing could have resulted in a better film. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Funnier Every Time!
I bought this as a gift for my roomate last Christmas, yet I think I've seen it more than he has. I love practical Will and crazy Grace. Together they're unstoppable, you never know what to expect from them. Throw in Jack and Karen and it's a riot! I am sorry to see the show end after such a good run, but this DVD set will help preserve the memories for future generations.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love will & grace
I love will & grace..and karen etc etc..this show is great and I wanted to own it on dvd just so I know I have it if it is never on again etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb, emmy award winning gay sitcom
Along with Cheers (1982-1993), The Golden Girls (1985-1992) and Friends (1994-2004), Will And Grace (1998-2005) ranks as my favourite American sitcom. This handsomely packaged 6-disc box set of the very first season of NBC's unforgetable and top-rated sitcom, contains all 22 episodes. There is also a wealth of enthralling bonus features which includes great, nostalgic interviews with the cast and crew, interesting behind the scenes footage, useful biographies of the principal actors, enjoyable themed montages and last but certainly not least some very amusing series 1 out-takes. This box set certainly gives you your moneys worth!

5-0 out of 5 stars Magical story
I loved the book and I feel that this movie did it justice. The actresses are new favorites of mine, and I feel they really captured the spirit of the characters. The movie really does a fantastic job of transporting viewers to 19th century England just as the book does.I would definately recommend this movie and the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not What I First Thought
Okay I have to admit that when I first order this film I was expecting a causal period film that dealt with a lesbian theme. But however, to my surprise I was very much fooled. By the end of the first part of the two part series I was completely in chains as to what had happened. and I was shocked because I was cleverly decieved. Part two goes on to explain the slack in the story.
4-0 out of 5 stars As always, good until you read the book
So, I really loved the book, Fingersmith, which my partner hadn't read when we picked up this movie.Obviously, Sarah Waters was going through more than some "rough seas" when she wrote the book, and as such, it's hard to capture that raw emotion on film.My partner absolutely loved the movie, and watched it 3 times over. She is also the kind of person who will not watch a L&O episode over again, 'cause she hates repeats, but she loved this movie.I can see the appeal, but since I read the book first, I just wasn't as... satisfied with the movie.I highly recommend it as a stand-alone, though.Les movies these days are so cliche, and it's nice to have a breath of fresh air. I just also recommend reading the book... after you've had your fill of the movie. ... Read more

Funny, entertaining & would recommend to anyone who like a good laugh!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too perfect
Robin Williams can do anything and everything well. In this film, his aging homosexual role is understated. He's got the walk, the wrist, the clothes...he is the perfect stereotype of the older gay male. He's as funny as ever.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny remake
(4.5/5 stars)Excellent cast and inspired writing make this remake of the classic French comedy, "La Cage aux folles," a terrific movie. Nathan Lane is perfect as Albert Goldman, a cross-dressing cabaret performer with a flair for the dramatic. His husband, Armand Goldman (or is it Coleman?), is played with understated brilliance by Robin Williams. When Armand's son, Val, wants to bring home his girlfriend, Barbara(Calista Flockhart), a situation comedy ensues. Also wonderfully cast are Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest as Barbara's parents and Hank Azaria as Agador the housekeeper in a performance that is not to be missed. This is one of the funniest films I have seen and I recommend it highly to adults. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, darling! Just fabulous!
Having just watched the first disc in this box I should perhaps not judged the whole second season, but it feels like a sure thing. Granted, it does not induce raving laughter and knee slapping the whole time, but it delivers in a steady pace what you expect to get from the Will & Grace ensamble, good wholesome humor. Now, if you are afraid of prancing gay men, this might not be your cup of tea, though you might not drink tea if you fit in this category... Anyway, it is splendid sit-com humor with a gay-jewish twist. Fabulous! ... Read more
