3-0 out of 5 stars The Dearly Beloved & the Departed
It's a tale of the living & the dead coming together in holy matromony in Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" In the gothic era of the 19th century in Europe a young man named Victor Van Dort inadvertally reserects a young woman while practing his vows & asumes he is her husband. It's a brilliant comical & romantic vision of the undead & the living, pure genius this film is. Featuring the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Gough & Christopher Lee. See Tim Burton's terrific movie of love between life & death

4-0 out of 5 stars With This Ring...
Shy Victor's parents arrange a marriage for him, thinking that he will never marry on his own.His parents are newly rich, so they immediately want to pair him up with someone from old money. They arrange the marriage to Victoria, a young woman who's just as quiet and retiring as Victor. But somehow, in the space of a few minutes, true love ignites between the two.As soon as it does, however, the fates conspire to keep them apart.First Victor can't remember his vows. Then the priest sends him away, saying that Victor doesn't want to marry. Then, when Victor finally practices his vows (thinking he's by himself) and gets them right, he ends up married to a young dead woman who was murdered for her dowry years ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars Tim Burton at his best!!!
Just like Tim Burton to create such a wonderful masterpiece for an animated movie! Beautiful music! Great plot! and such a great success this movie turned out to be! I saw this in theaters and I loved it! I still can't belive it didn't get the oscar for best animated movie. Wallace and Grommit got it. I am really dissapointed. I've asked alot of people whether this of Wallace and is better and I got alot of responses saying that this was better so it just doesn't make any sense at all why this great movie didn't win. But I still think it should have won and I still love this movie. It's one of Tim Burton's best movies ever. Just like the Nightmare Before Christmas, but even better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars another amazing anime
This seems to be Miyazake's most personal work, clearly a serious design. It is set in an imaginary time which blends the time of the ancient gods (Shinto style, gods of place and nature) with the settlement of humans and the coming of metalworking and war. The world is not in balance, and a distant conflict between industry and nature has wounded one of the gods of the forest, which is then killed by a sentry boy as it rampages into farmland he guards. The evil controlling it transfers to him, beginning a slow takeover, and he must journey to the origin of the conflict to find a way to cure himself and incidentally, as he will learn, to try to restore balance. But this is not a simplistic tale, he finds there are other characters in play, and there is good and evil in everyone, and no easy balance. The Princess (Hime) of the story is a mysterious human who has been raised by wolves (which are themselves powerful forest gods, a little reminiscent of the Amerindian Coyote myth), who becomes both his ally and his enemy. The story is not easy to understand. It has many Japanese mythic elements but even then, it is a work of Miyazake's unique imagination, and is not intended to be simple or to have a clean resolution.
5-0 out of 5 stars Princess Mononoke
I have seen Princess Mononoke on T.V., and it rocks! It's just awesome like all the other movies that japanese guy makes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Probably a 5
This movie takes all the clamation classics I remember as a kid and turns them upside down like only Tim Burton can.A twisted tale of the characters of Halloween town taking over Christmas after kidnapping Santa Claus.Though some of the characters are a little frightening for the young ones, the tone is mostly upbeat and funny. This is a charming, though very short movie. The dvd itself is loaded with great extras and worth the price two times over. ... Editorial Review

William Steig's delightfully fractured fairy tale is the right stuff for this computer-animated adaptation full of verve and wit. Our title character (voiced by Mike Myers) is an agreeable enough ogre who wants to live his days in peace. When the diminutive Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) evicts local fairy-tale creatures (including the now-famous Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and the Gingerbread Man), they settle in the ogre's swamp and Shrek wants answers from Farquaad. A quest of sorts starts for Shrek and his new pal, a talking donkey (Eddie Murphy), where battles have to be won and a princess (Cameron Diaz) must be rescued from a dragon lair in a thrilling action sequence. The story is stronger than most animated fare, but it's the humor that makes Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two words Donkey--'Shut'....'Up'
Perhaps one of the best all around movie out there, animated or not. The chemistry between Donkey and Shrek is hysterical.
5-0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC FAMILY FILM THAT HOLDS EVERYBODYS' INTEREST
FIRST IMPRESSIONS -- If one were to imagine a happy ending where 'Belle' from 'BEAUTY & THE BEAST' became a beast in the end rather than the beast becoming a Prince, one can get an idea of what Shrek is all about.
5-0 out of 5 stars Charming fun from an unexpected hero
Whereas Pixar always focused on good, clean family fun in its pictures, Shrek came into the spotlight because Dreamworks decided to skew the jokes a little more towards the older audience, while maintaing the basic family-friendly atmosphere. It worked, and Shrek was the film that proved it didn't take Disney/Pixar to create animated box-office gold.

2-0 out of 5 stars I remember seeing this movie
I saw this movie when I was in elementary school. We went on a field trip. We went to a park after the movie. I was waiting in line to use the restroom and I shouted at one of the teachers for not letting me use it before before we left the park. My teacher did not like my behavior and she told me to owe the person an apology and I refused. As result I was not allowed to go on their field trip with them. I was 11 at that time, but I'm 21 now.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT WORK OF ANIME
I found the anime "NINJA SCROLL" to be highly entertaining. The animation in "Ninja Scroll" combines samurai action served with a lethal dose of high octane violence. In a motion picture this would be expected; however, as a warning of caution it is animation directed at and for adults. Parents with children should look elsewhere.

The world domination of Pokémon begets their first theatricalmovie. This adventure is a little more complex and dark than the popular TV series, but kids who live for the show will gobble up this film and ask for seconds. Those baffled by the show's popularity, however, will see nothing better here. Mewtwo, a new type of Pokémon designed by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, decides he wants to rule the world and challenges all the great Pokémasters to battle. Of course, ourintrepid heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock are there to tangle with Mewtwo and spoil his devilish schemes. The film is a tad more emotional than the show (that is, there is some emotion), with Ash sacrificing himself to defend his belovedPikachu (but don't you worry, Ash will be just fine). Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Movie
This is an O.K movie. I give it a 3.5. It starts out with the origin of Mewtwo, as using DNA from the legendary Pokemon Mew's eyebrow fossil to create a clone, Mewtwo. Soon, Team Rocket leader Giovanni tries to control Mewtwo after he destroys the lab from which he was born in, but Mewtwo has other plans, thinking his purpose is not to serve humans. So he invites the most powerful Pokemon trainers to the New Island to see who can stand up to him. But things get outta control when Mewtwo steals all the Pokemon in black Pokeballs and creates artificial "Super-Clones" to prove that clones are the strongest in the universe. But he didn't count on Ash, a young Pokemon Trainer. Ash destroys the cloning machine, thus bringing Mew to the scene and saving the captured Pokemon. Who'll win? The superclones or the originals? Mew or Mewtwo? You've got to see it to beleive it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very powerful
Now I saw some of the reviews on the site and some are bad and some go way far into the plot. Now as an adult I'm going to rate this. 5-0 out of 5 stars Mewtwo Strikes Back
Before you turn down this movie due to the negative reviews of other people, please read my review.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Turn the Sun Down": Teen summer fun cartoon with Daria.
I saw the preview of this cartoon on Netflix.Seeing the teen characters dancing and having fun on the beach (minus Daria, who sits by herself reading a newspaper), I knew I had to buy this. And I have no regrets.
5-0 out of 5 stars Daria is it fall yet?
I love anything to do with Daria, so I'm a bit biased. For those who dont know this cartoon series. It is about an anti-social teen with a razor edge wit which means if your a person that needs clever jokes repeated to you this isnt for you. I just wish that they put the whole series on dvds instead of just the two 90 minute movies that they made from the series. If you have never herd of Daria before you will be lost if you buy either movie. This movie serves as a bridge between the second-to-last season and the last season of this series. And the sequel "Daria- Is it College Yet?" Serves as a Series finalle.

Editorial Review

Thanks to a greedy Pokémon collector, Earth's weather patterns are askew and its population doomed unless Pokémon trainer Ash can return three glass balls to their proper place in this second Pokémon feature. Unlike the television show, the movie features little violence and no Pokémon battles in the classic sense. Instead, the focus is an environmental one: what happens when humans interfere with the harmony of Earth's elements--in this case fire, ice, and lightning. Even Team Rocket have a (temporary, to be sure) change of heart, joining Ash and Misty in their effort to free the three imprisoned birdlike Pokémon who regulate those elements. The good intentions of this 76-minute film, however, don't make it any less dull for grownups (even though this feature is better than the first). Even more mind-numbing than the feature is the lead-in short, "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure," in which Pikachu and Pokémon friends follow Team Rocket's feline down a hole into a Munchkinland-type place. Without the humans for dialogue, viewers must endure a full 20 minutes of nothing but the squawks and squeaks of pocket monsters. As the movie's title song says, "We all live in a Pokémon world." 5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this movie!
I remember seeing this movie in theatres when I was around 7, and I really loved it!! Needless to say, this was my favorite movie out of the pokemon saga, especially since we see some my favorite character, Articuno. I was watching this yesterday, and let me tell you, when youre older, the movie has a whole new depth, I was crying at the ending. This movie is more entertaining then the first one (not to say the first one was bad, I loved it) I highly reccomend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Movies
This is the best of the Pokemon movies that I have seen. I actually won tickets to and attended the premiere in Los Angeles for this film and sat next to one of the creators of the film (a treat in its own right). While the plot line may be simple (boy must save world), the little details and the inter-connectedness of the Pokemon and the world speak to humanity and its often overlooked connection to the Earth. If anything just give the movie a chance. The score is actually really good (still have the promo cd I got at the premiere). Just enjoy some good anime :).

Artist-writer Katsuhiro Ôtomo began telling the story of Akira as a comic book series in 1982 but took a break from 1986 to 1988 to write, direct, supervise, and design this animated film version. Set in 2019, the film richly imagines the new metropolis of Neo-Tokyo, which is designed from huge buildings down to the smallest details of passing vehicles or police uniforms. Two disaffected orphan teenagers--slight, resentful Tetsuo and confident, breezy Kaneda--run with a biker gang, but trouble grows when Tetsuo start to resent the way Kaneda always has to rescue him. Meanwhile, a group of scientists, military men, and politicians wonder what to do with a collection of withered children who possess enormous psychic powers, especially the mysterious, rarely seen Akira, whose awakening might well have caused the end of the old world. Tetsuo is visited by the children, who trigger the growth of psychic and physical powers that might make him a superman or a supermonster. As befits a distillation of 1,318 pages of the story so far, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars way back when
this is like the classic that killed other classics. for some reason this is around the time when characters started dying off more in anime. so anime was never the same around this time. based off the manga loosely. i mean some parts are changed or edited. over here the manga was rare so try it if you like this type of animation. still one of my favorites in terms of anime classics. beware this is a type of movie that will kick you in your face and start to laugh. a very hyper violent film. lot's of action!

5-0 out of 5 stars the film that changed Anime forever!
Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira was (and in some respect still is) years ahead of its time. Akira is to anime as the Matrix is to action films.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome flick, but not for the faint of heart....
I first saw this movie when I was very small with my older brother. Later on, as I began really getting into anime, I began searching for the series and films that I'd seen those lazy afternoons of babysitting. After seeing this film for the first time in over ten years, all I can say is...AWESOME!! This film is full of action, suspense, philisophical thoughts on the very nature of life itself, AND a scene where someone trips out! Who could ask for more?! However, if you are easily offended by animated blood and violence or are under 15 or 16 years of age (mentally) and are extremely impressionable, do not view. I tried to watch this movie with my forty-something-year-old mother once, but the violent sequence at the beginning of the film freaked her out so much that I had to stop the DVD and pop in "Castle in the Sky" instead. So, if you don't mind blood and gore, and love movies with a deeper message hidden within them, rent it, buy it, do what you must, just see this anime masterpiece. ... Read more

My favorite part is,when they made sharp japenese actions and manga. pokemon is one of my favorite manga (japnese comics) show.
5-0 out of 5 stars Tripped Out Delight
It's sad to admit, but as an avid Pokemaniac, I've seen all the Pokemon movies released to the present time, and own the majority of them. With that in mind, I can honestly state that this is the finest cinematic piece associated with the Pokemon name, and remains one of my favorite animated films.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nine Pokemon movies, and this one is still my fave
Although the Japanese version of Mewtwo strikes back gives it a run for its movie, Spell of the Unown really is the best of the Pokemon movies in my opinion. It was the last theatrically released PokeMovie that people actually saw in theaters (4 and 5 were hard to track down, even if you lived near tons of cimemas), it wasn't used as a giant advertising board for pop stars like the first movie, and it wasn't edited as badly as the first two.

5-0 out of 5 stars Different is good,
Let me say first that it' ha been nearly a year since I've watched Perfect Blue but it's not the type of movie that one forgets easily. The story is about the main character what is attempting go from being a pop star to being a serious movie star. Now this may not sound like much of an interesting story however as any ne that has seen this directors other works like Paranoia Agent, MillenniumActress and Tokyo Godfathers know better.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good movie but could deal w/out a couple of scenes
I really like thrillers, espically psychological ones.I have never really been into the whole anima until I watched Ghost in the Shell.Very good movie but totally opposite from this.Perfect Blue deals with a pop-singer, turning into an actress. There were a couple of scenes in which I thougth they could have left out.But this movie had me hooked and guessing till the very end.I would recommend this.

3-0 out of 5 stars Trio to duo to solo
First and foremost, this movie is meant to be particularly disturbing. As such, I already can say that this is not a younger-crowds film, and is definitely R equivalent.Even more then that though, I'm still having trouble grasping whether it's my kind of film, and all the while, I just try to grasp the story in it's entirety.

3-0 out of 5 stars Oh my
I like kenshin i really do but this movie just...upset me. I like the funny cracks and jokes but it just kept on with the flashbacks. Alot more gore...if I wanted to see that I would have watched the OVA version. I don't like the way it jumped around...sigh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Samurai X The Motion Picture
I saw Samurai X on Cartoon Network. So I picked up a copy. The DVD come with front end trailers. Kenshin must take up his sword once again. To stop the fall up the Meiji Government. The uncut version of this movie is even better. There are many swords fights in this movie. If you love Rorouni Kenshin this is the Movie to get.
2-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the quality I think it deserves
Let's get this out in the open:I love Kenshin, I've read the whole manga, own the first 2 arcs of the anime, and both OVA's.This movie had high potential to be good, but poor subtitling and voice acting ruined it for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars a perfect movie
This is a beautiful, funny, sarcastic, and sweet film.
5-0 out of 5 stars A lot like Fantasia, but with more emotion.
I first saw this movie while in college and thought it was a great "date movie".It has all of the brilliant animation set to beautiful classical music that Disney's Fantasia has, but it also has much more emotional depth. While Fantasia is great (and I love it, too), Allegro non Troppo really puts you through an emotional roller coaster ride with moments ranging from very funny to very sad and everything in between. It's a great addition to anyone's dvd collection because it's not only very entertaining, but it's also sure to be different than anything else you already have.A great change of pace from the humdrum and normal.I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clever re-marketing of a classic
I first saw the new "Special Edition" in a local store and its cover is made to look like Disney's recent Studio Ghibli releases. At first, I thought it may be the Streamline dub version on DVD, but it is merely a re-packaging of the Original Manga release with French and Spanish languages added. And, sadly, still only 2.0 Surround in English. My kids (all 10 and under) and I are big fans of Miyazaki's films and this one is no different. However, I made my own edited backup of my Manga DVD and removed over 30 curse words, so we can watch it like all the other Miyazaki films.I guess I'll just keep using mine, since this one brings nothing new to the table.Note: I gave 5 stars for the movie itself, not for the Special Edition release.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the finest Lupin III and animated films ever made!
Please don't let reports of swearing deter you from purchasing thisanimated classic. I would also like to point out the swearing was for the most part added in by the distributer, Manga. The original Japanese track has only one or two bad words. However, the additional swearing in the English track may not be suitable for small children. The violence is for the most part cartooney, although the use of guns and grenades are used frequently in the film. There is one scene where blood is present, but none of it is gratuitous, and is more for dramatic effect.
3-0 out of 5 stars Rated pg-13 for a reason
I was dissappointed. This movie has swearing in it. I would not recommend it to anyone who has small children. It's rating is accurate. The movie does have lots of action(fighting)and Lupin uses cool gadgets and stunts to get around. If you don't mind the swearing and like action this movie is for you. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The Product of Humanity's Intellect and Science
Personally, I don't know about the 1927 version made by Fritz Lang, but Ozamu Tezuka's adaptation of Metropolis seems to be quite outstanding.
3-0 out of 5 stars Rent this before you buy it
I recommened viewing or renting this before you buy it.This is one of those anime movies you either love or hate because they try packing so much into so little time.If you believe the director succeeds, then it is indeed a wonderful experience worthy of several repeat viewings. If believe he tried to do too much and failed (like me), it is merely OK, not worth actually buying.
5-0 out of 5 stars Among the Best Anime
The best Anime is completely origonal, and to say that this is anything less is an understatement. This is not Gundam or powerball Z.It is however a deep emotional story that a US Studio would never even think about producing. The closest thing is probably the Matrix series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars greateastartwork, a straight mix of digital and hand effort.!
in all my DECADES been a streetfighter fan, and phylosophy follower, is the best anime explaining the warrior insights!PD: only for true warriors....

3-0 out of 5 stars Well, at least Zangief was in it.
This film I thought was alright. I did get to see Zangief fight some little kid which was hilarious and the animation is fairly good in my opinion. But other then that this film dissapointed me a little for these reasons: The lack of characters and the characters that did show up had very short scenes other then Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li which I guess why there were not much cameos they concentrated on the most popular characters in the whole Street Fighter series, I never heard of the main villain, confusing story that never showed up in the Alpha games, sentimental story line, and most importantly of all not enough fighting and the fight scenes that did show up were really short. Oh yeah another reason is Akuma's crappy cameo and how can they kill off one of the characters in the game even if he is not that popular unless that was apart of his orginal story line in the first Street Fighter game and thats why he did not show up in any of the other sequels of Street Fighter. But at least I got to see Zangief beat up a little kid. Stick to the games any other media of Street Fighter dissapoints if your a big fan of the games. Nothing I hate more then changing the orginal storys of characters.

3-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Street Fighter anime
I won't bore you with a story summary, or a plot analysis (you can find that in the 'Product Description'). Anyone looking into this anime is interested in only one thing: the action. Street Fighter Alpha pits characters from the game into plenty of jaw-dropping, smoothly animated fight scenes. Anyone familiar with the video games will see some of their favorite characters pull off their signature moves. The visuals are really impressive and the action amazes. If you're aiming for an anime action fix, this will probably do it...especially for Street Fighter fans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Furuba is love.
When I got this, I was a bit wary of bad dubbing- but as it turns out- the DVD's almost follow the manga's exactly! That pleased me to no extent, because a lot of dubs tend to ruin good animes.
4-0 out of 5 stars Different from the Manga
All right! Fruits Basket anime! About high school girl, Tohru Honda, who is orphaned when her mother dies in car accident. She ends up living in a tent in the woods. Then, into the picture, enters the Sohmas! Turns out that Tohru was living in the Sohmas' woods and she ends up being the housekeeper for them. Yuki Sohma, who is in Tohru's class, is the younger cousin of Shigure Sohma, whose house Tohru is now staying in. Before she moved in, Yuki and Shigure had warned Tohru to not hug anyone in the house, and for one reason:in the Sohma family, there are 13 cursed juunishi (ones of the chinese zodiac). When hugged by people of the opposite sex, they change into there cursed animal forms. Considering there were only males in the house Tohru was staying in, where there were only males.
5-0 out of 5 stars An anime that'll leave you warm and fuzzy inside
Tohru Honda is a cute, bubbly orphaned high school sophomore who lost her mother in May, and is secretly living in a tent in the woods. She pays for her own tuition via her janitorial job. She's got it rough, but she feels blessed to have two friends, tough talking blonde Arisa Uotani and the goth-like Saki Hanajima, with a soft but low menacing voice who threatens to zap anyone bullying Tohru with harmful vibes. But as she says, "one of my virtues is that no matter the times, I will not be discouraged."
