5-0 out of 5 stars Finding Nemo is a great "catch" for the whole family
Pixar Studios have done it again. I have to say that these guys are totally good in computer animation, as well as in storytelling. Rarely do those qualities come together but here they are, delivering unto the audience once again something that one can only be drowned with wonder. Such is the marvel of Finding Nemo.
5-0 out of 5 stars A really great movie!!!
I really loved this movie. I have watched it over and over again. I have never gotten sick of it. It makes me laugh and cry all in the same DVD. This movie is a must for all kids and adult kids too. Ellen's role is just great!!! It fits her to a tee. ... Read more

Editorial Review

William Steig's delightfully fractured fairy tale is the right stuff for this computer-animated adaptation full of verve and wit. Our title character (voiced by Mike Myers) is an agreeable enough ogre who wants to live his days in peace. When the diminutive Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) evicts local fairy-tale creatures (including the now-famous Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and the Gingerbread Man), they settle in the ogre's swamp and Shrek wants answers from Farquaad. A quest of sorts starts for Shrek and his new pal, a talking donkey (Eddie Murphy), where battles have to be won and a princess (Cameron Diaz) must be rescued from a dragon lair in a thrilling action sequence. The story is stronger than most animated fare, but it's the humor that makes Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Two words Donkey--'Shut'....'Up'
Perhaps one of the best all around movie out there, animated or not. The chemistry between Donkey and Shrek is hysterical.
5-0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC FAMILY FILM THAT HOLDS EVERYBODYS' INTEREST
FIRST IMPRESSIONS -- If one were to imagine a happy ending where 'Belle' from 'BEAUTY & THE BEAST' became a beast in the end rather than the beast becoming a Prince, one can get an idea of what Shrek is all about.
5-0 out of 5 stars Charming fun from an unexpected hero
Whereas Pixar always focused on good, clean family fun in its pictures, Shrek came into the spotlight because Dreamworks decided to skew the jokes a little more towards the older audience, while maintaing the basic family-friendly atmosphere. It worked, and Shrek was the film that proved it didn't take Disney/Pixar to create animated box-office gold.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fear, bullies, aggression, and ugly stereotypes: a toxic brew for kids
This is one of the worst films for kids I have ever seen with my four year old son.It is built around fear, bullies, aggression, and ugly stereotypes. This film is a bonanza for therapists and sociologists, and it goes a long way towards explaining some of the pathologies of this society. How about a movie that lets kids be kids, instead of this onslaught of cheap sentiments and terror? The calculated story uses every trick to scare kids. The limited imagination of the story writers is particularly insulting. Is everything just about good and evil and the fight for survival? For young kids??In many ways the film is a throwback to Cold War films such as Red Dawn (1984), in which school kids fought a Soviet invasion (no kidding!).Is "A Bug's Life" how we are supposed to prepare our kids for the war on terrorism? In sum, this film is a toxic brew.Kids deserve better.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bug's Life (Collector's Edition)
A Bug's Life (Collector's Edition)~ Dave Foley is one of the best animated movies that I have ever seen period. The animation is top of the line and this movie is so much better then Antz. The story begins with ants collecting food for an offering, and then our "hero" manages to trash this cermoney and then trouble begins. The story is well developed and well written and unlike "Antz" we are here spared pseudo political messages and this is good since the movie is after all made for children and not adults. One important message that is sent is to children is to tollerate different people and not to judge people. The music is splendid and the dialogue is right on the money. Highly recommended indeed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pixar is always a sure bet for great entertainment
Excellent story with grade A performers. There is an agelessness to Pixar's films and they seemed to have cornered the market in their ability to appeal to both the children and adults.Highly recommended. ... Read more

Dinosaurs come alive like never before in this costly computer-animated film from Disney. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Dinosaur Movie Out There! ;)
This is a perfect movie for the whole family to watch on a family night! Excellent for children to learn about dinosaurs and their history. Definitely recommend! =)

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur makes us roar!
I purchased this for my two kids...boys age 3 and 5 1/2.They both LOVE to watch this movie.Over and over again! The animation is excellent, the story a great "good triumphs over bad" tale. Not too scary, although a few moments that make us all jump!Great movie!I highly reccomend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur
I purchased this dvd for my grandson who just turned 3 & has a fascination with Dinosaurs. He was completely engrossed by the visual effects of the movie. The artwork makes the dinosaurs look realistic, opposed to one-dimension cartoon version movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for grown-ups and kids alike
First, I will mention that I am a Veggie fan. However, this movie is great even if it is your first exposure to the Veggie Tales characters. My brother-in-law watched this when we gave it to my son for his 3rd birthday. I don't know if he had seen any VeggieTales before, but he said, "I had no idea they were SO FUNNY!" My son had already seen the movie (we checked it out from the library), but we all loved it so much, we just had to own it.
5-0 out of 5 stars My son liked it. I loved it!!!!
They did a lot of work on this one. I especially liked the choir of heavenly hosts who met Jonah in the whales belly and sang about a second chance.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sheer, utter, absolute junk.
Comic book-to-movie adaptations generally come in two forms. The good (Spider-man, The X-Men) and the gawd-awful (The Punisher and the Fantastic Four - both pitiable versions of each).
2-0 out of 5 stars Spawn needs a remake
Spawn was one of those movies (and there are many), that was so caught up in the special effects department that the plot and characters were thrown to the waste side.In my opinion, it should have focused more on "Damn, Al Simmons is one tortured soul", as opposed to "Wow, that's a cool cape, what's this movie about again?"
1-0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been So Much Better
With so many remakes hitting the movie industry these days, I feel that this one deserves a shot at being re-done. After seeing this in the theatre and then giving it a second chance with the unrated version, I was still not impressed. As a fan of the comic book and the highly superior HBO animated series, I was mad disappointed at the feature film. The casting and the "feel" were not true to the comic and the action was substandard.

Look who became a star. Barbie comes to life in this computer-animatedChristmas tale that quite naturally takes the longtime favorite doll into a newrealm. The plot is a slight variation on the traditional ballet based onTchaikovsky's music. Instead of being in an open-ended dream, Barbie and herescort, the Nutcracker (soon to be Ken, natch), are on an adventurous quest.Along the way there are more creatures and derring-do than in the original. Thesole known voice talent, Tim Curry, has a good old time as the Mouse King, andthe animated dancing is gracefully adapted from New York City Balletchoreography. A few clever characters, bright animation, and wonderful musicshould entrance any Barbie fans ages 3 to 9. The 78-minute feature debuted onvideo shortly before playing on CBS in 2001. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I remember seeing this movie
I saw this movie when I was in elementary school. We went on a field trip. We went to a park after the movie. I was waiting in line to use the restroom and I shouted at one of the teachers for not letting me use it before before we left the park. My teacher did not like my behavior and she told me to owe the person an apology and I refused. As result I was not allowed to go on their field trip with them. I was 11 at that time, but I'm 21 now.

5-0 out of 5 stars When cartoon characters make better movies -
Then Hollywood really has huge problems.Of course the recent rash of cartoon movies with "famous" voices are the only movies with any kind of story or moral or even entertainment value and when they keep grinding them out the more medeocore they will become, but that seems to be standard practice with anything today, some idea catches on and then it's beaten to death. But, this movie was very cute.Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Antz
Antz~ Eric Darnell is a good movie that has a boatload of great actors. Like Jennifer Lopez, Sylvester Stallone and Woody Allen. The animation is stupendous, the script is astounding and the storyline is great. The music is awesome and quite cheesy which is supposed to be. The movie is not as good as bug's life and some of the subjects that they discuss in the movie are too deep for children like the anti communist agenda in the movie and the rights of the individual, and the anti-war message. The dialogue is quik and witty and whilst it is not as good as a bug's life it is one of the better animated movies that I have seen in the last 5 years. Even though I am not a fan of Woody Allen at all (he sounds so nervous all the time) he does a bang up job with the role given in this animated movie. I give this very well made movie 4 out 5 stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, 6 year old LOVES it
I've rented several of the Barbie movies with my 6 year old and this is her absolute favorite, so I'm thinking of buying it for her for Christmas. I doubt I'd bother buying any of the others, it's too easy to rent them, but this one stands out for us and she keeps asking to rent it over and over again.
5-0 out of 5 stars by far the best of the Barbie series
My daughters and I have enjoyed all the Barbie movies we have purchased or rented, but this is our favorite. The story and characters are captivating and the voice-over acting is well-done, particularly Anjelica Huston as Gothel. The music is beautiful--the song "Constant as the Stars Above" always makes me teary. The special features are interesting and educational, and my youngest now says, "I want to be an art teacher when I grow up"!

Well, I think enough has been said about the series itself, so I'll limit my review to the present Complete Campaigns set. The box is pretty nice and sturdy, with great hand-painted artwork based on the series. Also included is a collector's illustration with the episode guide on the other side.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Series!
I remeber watching this on tv.I was pretty young but it was entertaining.I recently rented them all and watched them again. It still entertained me.Thought the animation is a little dated, the series still is awesome. It was basically the truly first of its kind for tv.It also takes from the book, unlike the movie.Though there are still some things not correct (like dizz being a girl), it nails the book and fills in for you.I recomend that you read the book as well as watch this! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Movie for the young and older
I bought this movie for my daughter when it first came out. My daughter was 2 almost 3 and she loved it. She is almost 6 now and still loves to watch it. However, I have to admit I really like to watch it too. It is my favorite animated Barbie movie to date. It is so beatifully done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie of Swan Lake rocks! Totally rocks!!!!!
I Love barbie of swan lake. If you LOVE unicorns, fairys, magic, sparkles, etc. then this is the movie for you! SPOILER!!! First off: Barbie\Odette is a girl that works in her papa's bakery. Also, there is Odette's sister that rides a horse, she only appears a few times in the movie. Odette follows a unicorn,Lila, into the Enchanted Forest. She pulls out the magic crystal from a tree. Then the Fairy queen appears and tells Odette she can save the forest. Odette thinks she is not the right person. But then Rothbart turn Odette into a swan. The fairy queen change the spell and odette is a swan by day/girl at night. She needs to find the book of forest lore, and goes to Erasmus's cave..........Then prince daniel is about to kill Odette :0 but ends up fasinated by her beautiful-ness....fall in love.....etc,etc,etc.....GET THE MOVIE TO FIND OUT! THE ''scary''music actually fits in with the movie.my favorite part of this movie is where the fairy queen tells Odette about how rothbart took over the forest. And then Rothbart has freaky red eyes! SERIOUSLY. RED EYES!!!!!AAACCCKKK. WHY did Mattel PUT IN RED EYES?!?!?! those red eyes are so so................................ugh!Then again,I felt I could sit through it. RED EYES only appear 2 times in this movie....I mean if I were you I would,on the first time the red eyes come, please turn the volume down, and fast foward or go to ''My favorite scenes'' and choose a different scence.First time I saw it (the whole thing)I COULD NOT BELIVE IT!!!!!!! Then I came to the second red eyes thing, when Rothbart was an eagle....I sat through it and it wasn't to bad. that is what I would do. anyway,Ithink Odile(Rothbart's daughter)'s laugh isn't that annoying I think some of her lines are funny (''Oh, you are all roadkill!'')This movie is...it ROCKS.THIS MOVIE ROCKS EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A RED EYES AND A EVIL ROTHBART. BARBIE LOVER

4-0 out of 5 stars real dinosours on t.v
For any of us who always wanted to know about dinosours: their feeding, size, reproduction, ... thus their living , this is perfect way to have a close view of these creatures that we were just able to imagine so far.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely mind-boggling animals brought back to life
This was a terrific special that I initially saw on TV. When the DVD was released I instantly scooped it up!
5-0 out of 5 stars This Was Awsome
This was a very good use of 180 minutes of my life. These episodes are the some of the best dinosaur resorces you'll ever find. I have always been facinated with prehestoric life. I am such a fanatic that I own,Walking With Monsters, Walking With Beasts, Chased By Dinosaurs, Dinosaur Planet, Chased By Sea Monsters and When Dinosaurs roamed America. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic animation with flaws
I must admit I was really impressed with the CG in this movie. It seems great computer animation is steadily progressing. From Toy Story to War Planets then to Roughnecks:Chronicles of Starship Troopers, Final Fantasy takes the next evolutionary step. The lighting and level of detail in the animation is flawless. The humans are the most convincing you will find in a CG movie. There were 'actors' in some scenes were completely indiscernable from a real human being. I bet that if someone 20 years ago saw this movie they would wonder why the actors look so strange. It's that good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Totally unappreciated movie.
This movie was awesome. I really, really don't care what anyone says, this movie was cinematic gold. The only problem people had with it was that it 'wasn't Final Fantasy.' While I do agree that it shouldn't have been called a Final Fantasy movie, it was amazing either way. I saw it back in theaters when it first came out, and back then I had the 'Final Fantasy fan!' mentality so I didn't really dig it, but I went back and watched it again just recently and can't believe I even had a time where I didn't really like it. I should slap myself. This movie is amazing. End of story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Misunderstood? A huge mistake?
One thing that I rarely find with a game from Square is a bad story. Sure Final Fantasy VIII had its detractors but the story was quite intriguing and under that terrible translation was a really interesting story in Final Fantasy Tactics. But these and others took a long time to develop, little nuances and development over the course of a good 30-40 hours. Well Spirits Within clocks in at around an hour 40 and while the story is kind of interesting, there was a lot of missed opportunities here.

5-0 out of 5 stars AV3Xand AV3X Vol. 2 are The Real Deal
I purchased AV3X because I thought it was an affordable alternative to mind machines costing hundreds of dollars more. I'm glad that I did! Pop the AV3X DVD into your color TV, turn up the volume, sink in a cool, quiet darkened room, preferably without any other distractions and open your senses to a visual-scape and audio-scape that will take you into a natural state of relaxation. I had to run the DVD for a couple of sessions to get the feel of it. Personally, it helps to prepare yourself before you begin your journey by taking a few minutes to breathe and release any uptight and preconceived expectations and just flow with the sensations that will come. I might add that the creator of AV3X, Christopher Oliver is the real deal - if you email him, he'll email you back, one-on-one! Christopher has created and recently released AV3X Vol. 2. and it's sensational. I bought this version too! I enjoy the differences. The 3-D glasses also enhance the visual-scapes and just broadens the mind to absorb the experiences to come. Go with the flow and relax!

5-0 out of 5 stars AV3X Volume 1
I absolutely love this DVD! I have always had a difficult time quieting my mind when attempting to meditate, and the DVDs truly help me get into a deep state of relaxation very quickly.I thought I would also be able to use them as an ambient background when I'm not meditating, but they are so
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Fantastic Relaxation & Meditation Tool
In this hectic life stress is a silent killer affecting us all in ways that usually go unnoticed. This is an excellent DVD which I have been using for over a year now to rid myself of such a buildup. Most times I am relaxed within five to ten minutes of watching and when taken to the deeper levels I usually fall asleep when my eyes become heavy as if hypnotized. Often I stay awake too enjoying the forever changing visuals that flow from the screen. I think the sound has major impact on this DVD too as I used it as backgound music for studying for a very stressfull goverment test I had to take to become an electrician. (85% failure rate). Yes at 53 it was tough and a lot of people thought I wouldn't make it but I did. Thanks of course to this release that had me so relaxed it allowed me to concentrate as never before. My light & sound mind machine is now collecting dust in the closet as there is no longer a need for it. I heard there is finishing touches being done to Vol. 2 and I am anxiously waiting its release. As a bonus with Vol. 1 you get a pair of glasses that produce nine images from your one screen that covers your whole wall. Friends of mine have been floored from the experience and rave on about this product. You can't go wrong purchasing this DVD as the creator's integrity is layered throughout it. To inner peace, - William Blake ... Read more

Editorial Review

There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys reawaken the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.Read more

There is an agelessness to Pixar's films and they seemed to have cornered the market in their ability to appeal to both the children and adults.Highly recommended. ... Read more
