5-0 out of 5 stars THE OTHER GREAT ONE.......
JACKIE GLEASON WAS THE GREAT ONE, BUT WITHOUT A DOUBT ALFRED HITCHCOCK WAS IN THE 1950'S IS MY EARLIEST MEMORY OF SUNDAY NIGHTS AT 10 PM. HITCHCOCK PRESENTS IS WITHOT MATCH WHEN IT CAME TO A FORRUNNER OF ROD SERLING AND THE TWILIGHT ZONE. HITCHCOCK'S PRICELESS DRY WIT AND CALM ENGLISH MANNER AT THE BEGINING AND END OF THE EPISODES MADE THE WATCHING ALL THE BETTER. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE WHO LOVES A TWISTED TALE OF NOT ALWAYS SEEING IS BELIEVING. 5 STARS TO UNIVERSAL FOR THIS RELEASE IN 5 DISCS, CLEAR, CRISP, NO FREEZE UP, GLORIOUS IN B&W.

4-0 out of 5 stars No more dual sided discs! Yea!
The second season of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" arrives on DVD a year after the first set. I suspect Universal wanted to gage the reaction from fans before moving forward with future sets. Luckily Universal has abandoned the dual sided dual layered discs that they had many manufacturing problems with on the first season set. Instead they've opted for single sided dual layered DVDs. We get five DVDs housed in a boxed set the same size as the first (with the same cover design but with the title card in green vs. blue). As before the episodes are listed on the inside and out flaps of the cardboard holder. Unfortunately none of them list which ones were directed by Hitchcock.
    5-0 out of 5 stars It's Finally Here & It's GREAT!!!!!!!!
Well, the long awaited DVD set of AHP is here at last. There are 39 episodes in this second season set. The 39 are as follows:

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have
Charlie Brown is classic. You'll love his simple style and humor and the kids will too.It reminds me of simpler times in life without all the clutter and business of today. There's no fighting, special powers, x-ray vision, etc.Just Charlie Brown and the gang learning about life and teaching important lessons along the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars How do I play The Royal LIfe ?
I love the movie! I just have one problem. I can't seem to be able to play The Royal Life from Disc 2? I put it in my computer and clicked on The Royal Life and it just gives me a summary of what it's about and then tells me to insert the dvd-rom. Does someone know how to do this?

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Cinderella is the film that saved the Walt Disney Company.
5-0 out of 5 stars Walt Disney's Best Movie
Disney made its mark as a major studio in 1937 with its first full-length feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Ironically, given this early success, Snow White was their only hit movie for the next 13 years. World War II kicked the hell out of Disney's overseas markets. Even movies today regarded as classic Disney - Pinnochio, Bambi, Fantasia - lost money on initial release. Disney eked through by diversifying into training films for the US government, and the South American films that were part of FDR's Good Neighbor policy, etc. - stuff that made back its costs but not much more. By 1948, Disney was in dire financial straits. They had just enough money for one more movie. Walt Disney realized he needed a hit or his studio probably wouldn't survive, and it would have to be what they did best: a full-length animated feature film. Walt said to himself, "What we need is a movie about a girl in trouble. Audiences love that. They loved Snow White." That's what he wanted: a movie like Snow White, but even more so - more comedy, more drama, more magic, more music, more lovable characters. He chose as the basis of his company's Hail Mary pass arguably the most famous fairy tale in the world: Cinderella.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved This Season!
I know that there are Bewitched fans who love the first two B&W seasons the best well Im one who enjoys the color seasons after Tabitha's magic develops the best. This season has some of my personal funniest episodes. The Halloween episode this season is in my opinion the best Halloween episode from this or any other TV Sitcom ever! I LOVE the chase around the house that Sam does when chasin after those spooks Tabitha zapped out of her book. And then when one of the spooks turns Gladys Kravitz's nephew in to a goat it is so funny how he baaas her name "aunt gllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddyyyyyyyyyyysssss"! Gladys is also funny on that episode. Plus I LOVED the bull dog episode when Tabitha changed that bully into a bulldog. This season and the Fifth season were my two favorites. I just hope they continue and release the fifth season as well as the sixth thru the final season which is the eight season. I can't add much more that none of the other reviews haven't said except I agree with most of their comments... Why doesn't TV air these anymore? We pay so much each month for dish and cable? It makes me so angry the way TV Networks air the same series on different channels. Why can't some of these TV channels drop some of those same old shows that we can see on other channels and add Bewitched back on?!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bewitched-speed it up fellas on releasing these seasons
I was so glad that BEWITCHED is being released on DVD, yes I am buying them and season 4 is being purchased without question.
5-0 out of 5 stars Season 4 Was the Best!
Much can be said about Bewitched's 4th season.I believe the series peaked here. They introduced a whole slew of new sound effects, some of which remained until the end of the series.Sam's identical cousin, Serena, began making semi-regular appearances during this season. Dr. Bombay appears a few times also. His character was fully developed from the word GO. Also, this was the final season we see Aunt Clara prior to Marion Lorne's passing away.(They should have at least given an explanation about her absence in season 5).

It's still one of the sweetest kisses onscreen, up there with Bergman and Grant, Bogey and Bacall: the moment when pampered purebred Lady and streetwise mongrel Tramp, sharing a moonlit plate of spaghetti in an alley behind an Italian café, unknowingly slurp the same strand, and suddenly find their mouths meeting in surprise and tenderness. Ah, puppy love. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lady and the Tramp....Going into the Vault!
Disney has announced that in January the Lady and the Tramp DVD will be put into the vault!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most Romantic of All Disney Films
I fell in love with this movie when I was little, back in 1955 when "Lady and the Tramp" first came to the theaters, and am probably one of the few who can actually remember seeing the promo show, "The Story of Dogs" on the old Disneyworld TV series from the early 50's.I actually had the rare privildge of being taken twice! To this day, it remains my all-time favorite Disney film, favorite dog film, and continues to charm, amuse, and move me to tears.
5-0 out of 5 stars Romantic Comedy Goes to the Dogs
Lady and the Trap has been an enduring Disney classic for 50 years now and it's amazing how well it holds up after all that time. The hand painted animation is beautiful and the story and music are top notch. This film is an example of Disney animation at its classic best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great collection of classic horror
This is a great bargain, a collection of various classic horror films when art design, music and acting were counted on to provide the atmosphere instead of the sophisticated cartooning of computer generation. The greatest here is Peter Lorre in his best US performance in "Mad Love", filmed as if it were a Murnau German silent and the template visually for much of "Citizen Kane" (in particular Welles lifted the parrot). Worth the price of admission alone.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Set With Some Minor Issues.
From the moment LEGENDS OF HORROR was announced I was looking forward to it with great expectation but I already had a few qualms regarding it. As has been well covered elsewhere Boris Karloff's THE WALKING DEAD from 1936 should have been included in the set but I can live with THE RETURN OF DOCTOR X for a few reasons. 1) It does offer Humphrey Bogart the opportunity to show what a good actor can do with what for him was a thankless role. 2) The director Vincent Sherman was still alive to provide commentary on the making of the film as well as background on Bogie and others. 3) Most important of all it shows how censorship imposed on the movies in 1934 changed the style and content of the first great cycle of horror films.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Set!
Everyone has already covered this one well.A couple of notes about the prints, though.DR. X(1932) is taken from an original 2 strip Technicolor print restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive.Warner chose to include the print, which is far from perfect, so that we can see it in the original 2 strip color.Apparently, the Warner archive contains only a B/W print of this film. The UCLA print is very rare and is a treasure.Same can be said for MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM(1933), available on the flipside of the separately available HOUSE OF WAX(1953) DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, warm trip down memory lane!
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a charming and playful Halloween story that adults and kids will love. Bing Crosby's smooth tones are the perfect accompaniment for this old-fashionied cartoon - perfect for snuggling under the covers on a dark, rainy night! I absolutely loved it as a 7-year-old kid and I am thrilled to share it with my little boy.

5-0 out of 5 stars The eleventh animated Disney masterpiece is a winner
I recently reviewed "Fun and Fancy Free," released just two years before this film.Walt Disney tried the same thing in that film that he did in this film; he combined two shorts into one release.Unfortunately, the technique did not work well in "Fun and Fancy Free."The technique worked very well in this feature.

1-0 out of 5 stars When will studios learn? NO FLIPPERS!!!!!!
Flippers don't always play right on players, people have so much trouble with them,so my question is why??????????????????????????????????? Studios should stop being so cheap! Never met anyone who likes flippers, so are they not doing any research into the fanbase? Hey Fox, when you release it the RIGHT way and stop being cheap, i will buy your set, until then, forget it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Creepy...Kooky...Altogether a MUST HAVE for your TV collection
MGM/Fox did a really smart job with this jewel of 60s Television DVD box set.The packaging has beautiful graphics, the film transfers look sharp, and the bonus materials include just about everything you could want: interviews, commentaries, documentaries, photos, Charles Addams artwork, etc. (Sorry, no bloopers have been found.)I was thrilled to be asked to contribute to the commentaries along with some of the cast. Only one drawback...I wish the series' two seasons were released as such, and not divided into three volumes, but I can live with it. Acquiring the complete series will be the mission.Subsequent volumes will have additional extras...so keep a look-out.This series is a must-have on any classic TV shelf.Viva Jackie Coogan and Fester!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Could well be the best DVD on the market
Given that the movie is wonderful, perhaps the last of the great Hollywood musicals and a charmer for all generations, this DVD is still remarkably wonderful. Disney has done a clean-up job on the film that makes it shine. The audio is rich and wonderful, including the all-important ORIGINAL stereo soundtrack (feh to multi-channel remixes!). The special features even manage to elucidate the process of filmmaking in manner intriguing to both the cineaste parent and Mary-mad children.
5-0 out of 5 stars thank you, Julie and Dick (and Walt, of course)!
I think I like this movie more now than when I was a kid! And the extra features on this 2-DVD set are absolutely wonderful. Great interviews with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, one of the Sherman brothers (songwriter), and the girl who played Jane that really show how special the movie-making process was, which then translated to joy on the screen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful story and lovely music
Mary Poppins must be one of the loveliest filming produced by Disney studios. This musical movie is extremely well produced and has outstanding actor work. The scenes are of high quality despite the whole story was filmed indoors. Even the little part of London was reproduced in Disney studio. The music from Sherman brothers is world famous and well known. When you hear the first tunes, you might say: Hey I've heard that somewhere! Having this DVD on your shelf would please both you and your younger fellows. ... Read more

Finally, finally, finally, three Bogart films that used to be shown endlessly on TV when I was a child and which I absolutely loved are finally on DVD!I'm not talking about "Casablanca" or "The Maltese Falcon" Or "The Treasure of Sierra Madre", or any of those films that first come to mind when the name Humphrey Bogart is mentioned.I'm taking about "Across The Pacific", "All Through The Night", and "Action in the North Atlantic".God, I loved those movies!
5-0 out of 5 stars BOGIE'S BACK.....and you can have him in a luscious new collection of gems!
Re-releasing popular titles on DVD is par-for-course for most labels. Only two come back for another release when the reason is damned good...WB and Criterion. Unlike the other studios, only these two save the second dip for something far better, and this superb SIGNATURE COLLECTION VOLUME TWO contains four new-to-DVD releases, looking SENSATIONAL, but also a re-visit to THE MALTESE FALCON, which along with CASABLANCA and SIERRA MADRE, represents the very best of the world's most beloved and timeless movie actor.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, Off-Beat Mix of Bogie WWII -Era Classics...
"Humphrey Bogart - The Signature Collection, Vol. 2" may be as entertaining a collection of Bogart films, as he emerged as a major WB star, as you'll ever find. They run the gamut of early classic noir, espionage, action/adventure, broad comedy, and moody morality tale, each exceptional, and stamped with the distinctive Bogie 'style'.

Charlie Brown gets rocks in his trick-or-treat bag, Linus awaits a visitation from the Great Pumpkin in his terribly sincere pumpkin patch (while the adoring little Sally sits tight with him), Snoopy falls asleep, Lucy harasses Schroeder, and Pig-Pen kicks up a dust storm even beneath his costume in this classic television broadcast. Funny stuff, but also graced with Charles Schultz's more poignant and gently satiric themes from the 1960s on the influence of faith, failure, and hope in our lives. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Watch out!! The Red Baron is coming to get you!!!!
Another true classic Peanuts from Charles Shultz where Linus believes in the Great Pumpkin and will rise in the pumpkin patch and give toys to all of the good boys and girls. It's funny how Sally yelled at him because she missed Halloween for her sweet ba-boo!!!Also, you have to love Snoopy's performance as the Red Baron.Gotta love it!!! 5 stars all the way!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "Oh, Great Pumpkin! Where ARE you?"
This delightful Halloween classic is one of my all-time favorite Peanuts specials! Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and Sally were never more charming as they are in this feature!

5-0 out of 5 stars All ojections overruled
After watching volume 1, I could not wait for volume 2.The stories are even better than I remembered. The picture is wonderfully clear. This series is the grandfather of all courtroom dramas. Many have tried to imitate, but none have duplicated.Within the drama find humor, thrills and down right fun.You know he is going to solve the mystery, but can you figure out the secret? This is TV of classic proportions. The entire cast is merely excellent and the writing only fantastic.Watch this.
