5-0 out of 5 stars Snake Bus..
Great movie, Being from a lil place not terribly east of Perry County, the place where the movie was filmed, is sorta my old stomping grounds. Its a lost thing almost in this world but, when you get in the back woods of the Appalachian mountains, people sorta stick together, and still watch over one another.
4-0 out of 5 stars Next of Kin
Damn good movie and entertaining, too.Being a Kentuckian, I liked how it showed the differences of the eastern Kentucky mountain people's environment, lifestyles, and their beliefs, which is still carried on to this very day, incontrast to the big city's(Chicago)smug, fast-paced attitude. The guy traveling in a converted school bus full of snakes was a bit hard to swallow, and how Liam Neeson's character could find his way around Chicago, and never having been there, is a mystery to me. Yes, there are many bow hunters in Kentucky!!They have a special time during deer hunting strictly for bow. And, yes, they are good with them! But, the movie as a whole is fun to watch with a big bowl of popcorn.Might not be suitable for small children due to language and violence.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice late night formula vigilante movie.
"Next of Kin" is pretty much the standard vigilante movie. Only the actors were changed to protect Charles Bronson in "Death Wish" (1974) and Sylvester Stallone in "First Blood" (1982) from this overplayed formula movie.

Editorial Review

Steven Seagal needed a new approach to his standard head-busting heroics, so he teamed up with Keenen Ivory Wayans for this routine 1996 action flick. This time stone-faced Steve plays Los Angeles homicide detective Jack Cole, newly transplanted from New York and teamed up with Jim Campbell (Wayans). They're assigned to track down "The Family Man," a serial killer who earned his nickname by crucifying entire families and leaving religious graffiti as his calling card. The case heats up when the latest victim turns out to be Cole's ex-wife, and Cole is considered a primary suspect. That makes Seagal get really mad--you don't wanna get Seagal too upset, y'know--but he still has time to quote Buddhist wisdom and crack wise with Wayans, who plays it relatively straight as the practical half of this partnership. It's typical Seagal stuff all the way, with obligatory fight scenes every 10 minutes or so, but Seagal fans will enjoy it, and Brian Cox makes a suitably hissable villain. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this movie!
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie as I do most of Steven Seagal's. As with any other actor, some movies are better than others. This was one of the ones I especially liked. I'll still be buying his movies as they come out on DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
The movie came in a very timley manner. Im currently out in Iraq now and Amazon has really done a lot for all of us.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Now get your ugly white a$$ outta here......"
Typical Seagal fare, in which thick leather (and even alligator skin) trench coats replace the need for a decent plot. Seagal's paunch is ever present, and his penchant for food is made clear when during one scene he busts in on a private lunch meeting and starts sampling what appear to be enchiladas. At least its good to see Seagal poking fun at his own image, as one villain asks him to take his 'sensitive pony tail and sissy beads' and leave the restaurant. Said villain is met with a swift hand to the throat in response to this statement of course, but you can only ask Seagal to expose his sensitivities so far. One of the more humorous moments include the main villain threatening Seagal in a police station packed with officers, of all places, and Master Steven responding to this by telling the foe to get his 'ugly white a$$' out of the station. This unprecedented outburst of racial indignation is amusing if at all for the fact that Seagal himself is a white man. Just unreal. Look, this is a Seagal film, what do you need to know? He breaks 50 lbs of human bone via various joint locks, he has a pony tail, he is an agent of a state/federal department of some type. Oh yes, and he has a black partner, a situation that seems to be the norm in Seagal films. Prepare to laugh at the absurdity. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Surprisingly Very Good Remake: American Style!
I have seen, "La Femme Nikita," and it is a very good film. However, "Point Of No Return," is also a very good film. More importantly, it holds its own very well. One of the main characters is (Bridget Fonda) as the assassin working for a spy agency that you are never really sure about. Are they working in the best interests of the country? Or are they somewhere on the fringe working as a rogue agency within the CIA? Their loyalties are never really delved into. However, one thing is for sure; they are in the business of assassination. And it is the way the agency recruits their assassins that make this an interesting film. [no spoilers]
5-0 out of 5 stars Point of No Return
I really like Bridget Fonda and if there is any Nudity of herat all, I will get it. She is one sexy woman. I really like the story and the part she played.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Le Femme Nikita" American style
And I have to say I was surprised when I first saw this.THIS is why Bridget Fonda used to be a big star. There is no reason that she should be able to kill like 20 people at that restaurant, yet she sells it so well, she could have killed a 100.If you have not seen the french movie Le Femme Nikita, don't worry, this is almost as good. And beign an action fan, I liked it even more. The story gets a little stupid at a couple points, but those are minor becsue the movie is so freaking good.

2-0 out of 5 stars Natural Born Killer's/Y Tu' Mama Tambien (except not as 1/2 as good as either)
Well I bought the VHS version of this film for three bucks at half price books because while I was glancing over the back I noticed that it was directed by Gregg Araki. I am not what you would call an Araki fan just because I had only seen one mof his other films before this one, Mysterious Skin. I happened to absolutly love that film, I really didnt know of Araki's other works so when I saw that Araki made "The Doom Generation" I was excited to see how this film compared to "Mysterious Skin" ...
1-0 out of 5 stars Spare yourself. Trust me.
I saw this movie about 5 years ago, and it still holds the as-of-yet undisputed title as the single worst film I've ever seen. The acting is horrendous and the script consists of nothing more than meaningless dialogue coupled with a truly laughable attempt at symbolism. For example, almost every number that appears in the movie is 666: the hotel room, the amount of money the main characters' purchases come to, and so on. The average 6th grader who recently discovered his parents' Ozzy records might find that way cool and deep, but any self respecting moviegoer should know otherwise.
4-0 out of 5 stars Indie Film that delivers
This is so far off the beaten path and Hollywood's radar... and that is what I love about it. Greg Araki chooses really good-looking people and gets the most out of them.I wish we could have seen more of Jonathon Sheck's body. He's a winner, but his portrayal in this movie is kind of a stock kooky character he plays.James Duval on the other hand is just amazing as the innocent, naive and totally dominated younger guy. He's the real star of the film to me.It's not the kind of movie to show your parents, but if you like them sort of weird and very independent. This is one to get. ... Editorial Review

If Sylvester Stallone plays the world's number one assassin in this thriller, that must make Antonio Banderas, well, number two. The two are competing to hit the same target for a $20-million payoff, and their challenge takes them from explosion to explosion on a cat-and-mouse chase from Seattle to Mexico. Julianne Moore plays the cagey cat fancier and computer hacker who possesses a stolen computer disc that makes her a prime target for bad guys, and Robert Rath (Stallone) is only too happy to come to her defense. Director Richard Donner handles action sequences with adequate flair and has a good time blowing things up. Banderas has fun with the nonsensical plot, and Moore is enjoyable in one of her big-budget mainstream roles. Read more

Assassins is a great action thriller starring Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas.
5-0 out of 5 stars Watch two assassins in action for the price of one...
If you have watched 'The Mechanic', you will certainly see a parallel between that movie & this movie. Both are fast-paced action movies about two assassins in conflict with each other.

4-0 out of 5 stars So much better than the 2004 version
This movie is so much better than the new 04 version. If Batman Begins
5-0 out of 5 stars Original and Best
Better then the 2004 version hands down. Dolph Lundgren plays the ultimate punisher, captures and delivers the story of an ice cold world that is "The Punisher". Just a great movie for this character, total classic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for what is it, not for what fans might try to make it...
In regards to the accuracy of the first Punisher movie's storyline compared to the comic, the die-hard comic fans who complain are right. It fails miserably--no skull-adorned outfits to be seen, a changed backstory, no Microchip, none of the villains, etc.But the 2004 film fails on many levels too. We've had two misses so far, so if you want to see a faithful comic-book adaptation of The Punisher, please stop whining and get to work on doing it properly yourself; I'd personally like to see an accurate translation of the comic too!

Editorial Review

The glowering brutality that is aikido headbanger Steven Seagal's substitute for a star persona at least gives us a rancid taste of authenticity in this cookie-cutter action picture. This glum lug seems to really enjoy hurting people; he snaps limbs and shatters noses with visible relish. Pitted against a crew of Jamaican gangsters who invade his (white ethnic) Chicago neighborhood and threaten his family, retired DEA agent John Hatcher sets out to solve the case with robotic efficiency, kicking butt in just about every scene. Not quite as pudgy in this 1990 outing as he became a few films later, Seagal looks like the genuine, lethal article in the fight sequences, but like a hopeless amateur when he tries to act his way out of the waterlogged-paper-bag of a script. So what else is new? The one bright spot here is Basil Wallace, a mostly unsung actor who throws himself into the showy role of the Rasta gang-boss Screwface, a garishly scarred psycho with piercing ice-blue eyes. 5-0 out of 5 stars Dreadlocks fly and arms get broken
I can't think of a better way to start a movie than a scene in which Steven Seagal is running. It's absolutely hilarious, and it sets the tone for a great action movie with some classic Seagal arm-breaking and one-liners.
5-0 out of 5 stars great work
you did a great job thanks for everything. keep up then good work.

3-0 out of 5 stars "I want Hatcha DEAD!"
OK with regards Marked for Death, which is probably the worst of Seagal's infamous "First Four", as film historians generally refer to Seagal's early career- here we have a man who is driven into retirement out of the guilt he feels for the countless innocent people he has murdered on the job in order to catch the bad guy, the many informants he has fornicated with, and the death of his recent partner. Seagal's character has become worn down by the rigors of police life and he returns to the home of his sister to find peace. Of course, his sister's perfect life is shattered the minute he moves in, as a ruthless Jamaican drug posse shoots up the home and severely injuries Seagal's niece. This of course leads to Seagal reassuming the lifestyle he previously indicated he was leaving 20 minutes earlier in order to become a decent human. Seagal, having given up on this attempt after perhaps a day, takes up arms with his partner, a football coach who somehow manages to obtain a leave of absence in order to travel to Jamaica and slaughter countless dreads, and the laundry list of death begins. 5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST OF THE SERIES
I've lost count how many times I've watched this film. Gibson and Glover are excelent but the inclusion of Joe Pesci was the stroke of genius. His "steak sandwich" monologue is a classic. It's hard to believe he became so obnoxious in future sequels.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gibson and Glover reunite for fun cop movie
The summer of 1989 was loaded with blockbusters, yet there was only one movie that I really wanted to see more than any other. In a season that saw such blockbusters as a new Indiana Jones movie, the latest Star Trek picture and Timothy Dalton's second outing as 007, the movie that held the most excitement for me was LETHAL WEAPON 2. Not because of Mel Gibson or Danny Glover or a particular love of the original, but because the love interest came in the very lovely shape of the lead singer of one of my favorite 1980s bands (Eighth Wonder) Patsy Kensit.

John Wayne was in the early stages of superstardom when this lavishCecil B. DeMille adventure was produced in 1942, so it's interesting to see the Duke in a heroic supporting role as opposed to the commanding one. Here he's on equal footing with Ray Milland in the romantic lead; they play a pair of dashing yet wildly different characters who've both fallen for a feisty Southern belle played by Paulette Goddard. It's 1840 on Florida's Key West, and while Wayne plays a daring seaman eager to command a brand-new steamship, his ambitions are hampered by his daredevil reputation and the ruthless profiteering of a salvager (Raymond Massey) who preys on ships that are routinely wrecked in the Key's rocky coastal waters. Milland plays the dapper gentleman who can decide Wayne's future, but Wayne's competitive edge leads to a progression of apparent betrayals and shifting allegiances. Ultimately, both men cast aside their differences to seek justice on the open sea, where an underwater encounter with a giant octopus threatens to bury them both in a watery grave. Providing spectacle and romance as only DeMille could serve it up, this blustery adventure has its share of corny dialogue and obligatory crowd-pleasing action, but that's all part of the movie's considerable charm. "Reap the Wild Wind" was a huge hit, and deservedly so. Paulette Goddard, playing a Scarlett O'Hara of Key West, demonstrated that she could have done credit to the role of Scarlett in "Gone With the Wind" had she not lost out to Vivien Leigh. 4-0 out of 5 stars Not Great, But A Very Decent Film: Entertaining!
Now, I can understand some reviewers not liking this film. But this happens to be one of those guilty pleasures that I enjoyed immensely. Is it a classic samurai/ninja film? No. However, I found the cinematography to be outstanding, and although the plot is a little far-fetched, it was refreshingly fun. In fact, the entire film was fun. I like samurai films, and especially films from the far east [mainly Japan] And while I can understand purists looking for perfection to be disappointed, if you just sit back and enjoy the film, you will find it much better than many reviewers have stated. They are entitled to their opinion, and I respect that. Some have made very good and vaild points, and since I never give out negative marks on others, I understand and respect their complaints.

Editorial Review

In the opening scene of this thoroughly mindless action flick, a psycho holds a group of terrified hostages in a grocery store, and yells to renegade cop Marion Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) that he's going to blow the place to kingdom come. "Go ahead," says the cop nicknamed "Cobra," presumably because he's tightly coiled and strikes with deadly force. "I don't shop here." And so it goes with this brutal and for the most part disgusting Stallone showcase, in which Sly's then wife, Brigitte Nielsen, provides bad acting and ample cleavage as a fashion model (what else?) who's the only witness against a crazed cult of serial killers. Cobra likes to kill first and leave the questions to his disgruntled superiors, who call on the maverick lawman when all other options have failed. This movie does have a modest following, and for what it's worth, a few of the action sequences are disjointedly exciting. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Eating pizza with scissors. The Cobra style.
This movie is so bad that you have to love it, from the opening scene in the super market, to the motorcycle/car chase at the end of the movie. This movie has got it all.Sly is the archetype of a stale, tough on the outside, warm on the inside hero. The one liners are sick. For instance when the super market is threatened to be blown to pieces Sly says, "Go ahead, I don't shop here."
4-0 out of 5 stars Psycho?
A "get what you pay for" Dirty Harry clone in which Sly tosses out a few too many tough guy one-liners, basically.Perhaps I'm over-analyzing the thing, but watch closely as buttoned-down Andrew Robinson, best known for his "Scorpio" serial sniper in Clint's original vigilante cop hit referenced above, has a moment when, after being accosted by Sly's Cobretti, snarls, "HE'S the psycho!!"A clever intentional line?who knows? lol

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst movies I ever seen
I didn't even get through half the movie before I turned it off. It was boring, poor quality, cheesy, and the acting sucked. I was so fustrated with the movie, I sold it on ebay the next day. I am a HUGE Stallone fan and I couldn't believe this movie was such a disapointment. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars a flawed but admirable effort
At the time of its release, Backdraft was regarded by some critics as an admirable if not flawed homage to the profession of firefighting. Of course, compared to the recent Ladder 49 it seems downright gritty and hard-hitting but still doesn't hold a candle in terms of realism to television's Rescue Me. Still, Ron Howard's film has its heart in the right place and does boast an impressive cast. Looking back at it now, Backdraft was one of Howard's early attempts to be taken seriously as a dramatic filmmaker and an initial bid at Oscar glory - something that would elude him until A Beautiful Mind.
4-0 out of 5 stars Universal Provides Us With A Much Needed Double-Dip, Backdraft Is One Of Those Films That Deserves A Slot On Your Shelf
MOVIE: In a much needed re-release Universal gives us an incredible 15th Anniversary set for Backdraft. Backdraft is a movie that we see so often nowadays, but Ron Howard executed it in such a way that it remains as one of the best of the "real-life hero tribute" films. The script is filled with contrived dialogue and some incredibly lame and cliched plot turns, but it's the fire footage that makes this film exceed above the rest. The filmmakers initially wanted to go with CGI fire, but the tests done looked so fake that they turned to the real thing. Some amazing scenes are shot in this film that we'll probably never see in a film again due to the fact that CGI has advanced so much over the past decade. The characters are likable and relatable, but the acting is a bit overdone. This isn't the greatest film ever made, but the characters feel real enough to keep a strong emotional connection with the audience, and that's the essence of good filmmaking. Many see Backdraft as the ultimate tribute to firefighters across America, and while the ending of the film sends a tribute, the movie is actually very much centered around the two brothers. Heroism and courage are not central themes of this movie, but it's more about embracing the people around you (not teamwork). The film also features the first collaboration between Ron Howard and Hans Zimmer, in which Zimmer produces one of his best synthesizer based scores. A really good film that finally gets the DVD release it deserves.
5-0 out of 5 stars EXTRAS deserving of a Great Film
Backdraft is long overdue a decent release. The original release, as mentioned by another reviewer here, is very grainy, no better than VHS.

Something is awry at Boston General Hospital.Dr. Wheeler's (Genevieve Bujold) friend Nancy goes in for a routine procedure, but never comes out of the anesthesia and slips into a coma.Wheeler learns that a tissue sample from the young woman went to the lab, then soon finds out that a high number of patients have become comatose recently. She digs a little deeper and finds a conspiracy mired in hospital politics, running afoul of the head of anesthesia, Dr. George (Rip Torn) and the head of surgery, Dr. Harris (Richard Widmark).Nobody believes the young MD, not even her boyfriend Dr. Bellows (Michael Douglas), but she soon uncovers a black-market trade in body parts, conducted offsite at the Jefferson Institute, a state-of-the-art coma-care facility. 4-0 out of 5 stars Suspended In Suspense
It was good to see some familiar actors and actress give us excellent performances in what is normally called a horror movie or thriller. The twist at the end will cause most people to remember the movie for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars If the Caregivers do Harm?
The beginning show a hospital operating room. The patient is a good friend of Dr. Susan Wheeler, and undergoes a routine operation. There is a momentary problem. When the operation is over her pupils are fixed and dilated; she is brain dead, and transferred to the ICU. An anesthetic reaction? Why was this patient tissue-typed? The central computer ordered a random test. Dr. Susan visits the computer room to investigate all occurrences of coma in the past year. Some of the deaths were unexpected: patients were young and healthy. But Dr. Susan has violated protocol. This invasion of privacy is smoothed over. Next, there is another unexpected case of coma. The hospital doesn't like Dr. Susan's interest in this. Coma patients are usually transferred to the Jefferson Institute. 5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless classic
A great movie from start to finish. Young Genevieve Bujold and Michael Douglas give outstanding performances. Everyone in the movie is great. An excellent "conspiracy theory" come true movie. A good add for your DVD library. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Entertaining
Couldn't believe that this was the same John Lithgow who starred in "Third Rock From the Sun", an hilarious comedy that ran for a few years on NBC.John plays the ultimate bad guy seeking twisted revenge for being stopped in his tracks by Denzel's character.
4-0 out of 5 stars DON'T GET MAD..GET EVEN
RICOCHET is a tense and riveting tale of revenge, powered by the performances of Denzel Washington as an idealistic cop who finds his life dramatically altered after he arrests a psychotic criminal; and John Lithgow as that criminal whose plan for revenge goes beyond the norm.Escaping from prison, Lithgow plots a course of events that leads to the destruction of Washington's career and life.Culminating in an exciting climax at a construction site, RICOCHET overcomes its somewhat improbable plot with tense action sequences and an excellent cast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Action
This is a fantastic action packed movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The storyline is interesting as it shows the possible challenges that the homeless face. Natasha Binder (Yancy Butler) comes to New Orleans looking for her father who was missing. She meets up with Chance, a sailor (Jean-van Damme) who she hires to help her find her missing father (after Chance fails to be selected from going out to sea). Chance helps her to find out that her father was murdered by some notorious mercenaries who excel at hunting ex-Vietnam war vets on the streets of New Orleans for fun. Here retired war veterans are hunted down like prey.

5-0 out of 5 stars no one is above seagal's law in this, his first movie
andrew davis(the fugitive, under siege) directs steven seagal's first movie with great gusto and keeps everything moving so fast that any plot holes are just steamrolled over and leaves us with seagal's best movie after under siege which was also made by davis.
4-0 out of 5 stars Back when Seagal was really making movies
A chicago cop [Steven Seagal, In his film debut] fights to shut down a drug ring. This, Which is Steven Seagal's first film, Remains one of his very best efforts to date. The film has plenty of good action, A good plot, And it never gets boring and you never get tired of watching. Seagal is backed up by a good supporting cast which includes Pam Grier, Sharon Stone, and Henry Silva. Rent this movie and just kick back and enjoy the action... Have a blessed day, Peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seagal at his best
Steven Seagal could very well be the messiah of brutality and pain.If you like watching Seagal absolutely destroy random guys, and you enjoy his classy one-liners, Above the Law is an excellent choice. There is nothing wrong with this movie.Seagal is so ridiculously amazing - this debut may be his finest. ... Editorial Review

Jean-Claude Van Damme gets a kick out of himself in this clever if barely competent action thriller, in which the likable Muscles from Brussels plays twin brothers separated at birth by a murderous Hong Kong crime syndicate. While the genial Chad lives the posh life as a California aerobics instructor, his sibling Alex chews fat cigars back in China, running a mahjong parlor and making some extra bucks as a smuggler. A quarter-century after being sent to different corners of the globe, they reunite and decide to seek vengeance against the cartel that killed their parents. From there the story and action set pieces are fairly predictable, but that hardly matters since the film's real appeal is in the amusing way the two Van Dammes deal with sibling rivalry, especially where women are concerned. Van Damme, seeking his box-office breakthrough at the time, might have received more of a commercial boost had this movie simply been directed with greater professionalism. The lighting, editing, and shot selection are often ridiculously below the standard of low-budget features. But Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One Damme Good Movie
This movie to me is a golden classic. You have one brother (Chad) a ladies guy that uses his martial arts to fight and the other brother (Alex) street [...] that uses guns and martial arts. Bother brothers played by Van Damme. I love this movie, probally my favorite Van Damme movie. Anyway The mother and Father are murdered and the twins are seperated. After years they finally come together to seek revenge on those who murdered their parents.

3-0 out of 5 stars not the best
Usually Jean-Claude's films are excellent (except for Street Fighter)but there was something missing from this film. Its not that bad but not the best.I hope he gets back on his feet.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cool Film!!!
This film is a true classic. Story is a bit slow, I kinda did't like it to much. The film was almost like his other 80's film but still I thought it was more like a "Ladys soap opera". It Some what has some awesome action in the movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bruce vs. the wretched serial killer
Bruce Willis would not be the first actor to bag on their own work. Some people might take the fact that an actor bags on their own work as a very authoritative statement and not bother seeing such a film. If the actor doesn't like their own film, why should anyone else bother? But I think such need not always be the case, and this movie is one good example. And artist is always critical of their own work, and rightly so. But just because they see things they don't like about their own work or something else about a film they are in, does not mean that others will certainly see the same things for the same reasons.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fully entertaining..!
This is a great movie, there is nothing you can not like in this movie.
5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Enjoyable
I still think the main reason that this works is Bruce Willis. But when you factor in someone of the skill of Pastorelli, a guy who manages to make Arnie look brilliant, you have a good fun action movie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thank youPam for aBlaxploitation classic!
Maxim magazine lists Coffy as number 7 on its list of the 50 best B-movies of all time, and there can clearly be no mistake about its status as a B-movie. Pam Grier shines in this hilarious action-packed blaxploitation flick where she first got her name as a 'black pin-up queen' during the early 70's. It is apparent after watching this film that no one remembers this for the bad-acting and dialogue, but for Pam Grier herself she is one mean sister.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Movie...
This is probably my all-time favorite film, and I think it's because everything seems to work right: the atmosphere, the music(especially the title song "Coffy" with the classic refrain "Coffy is the color/Of her skin"), the gags, the actors, Pam Grier, everything. I especially like director Hill's choice to film some of the sleeziest parts of Los Angeles in order to tell the story; we see Watts, downtown, Malibu.
5-0 out of 5 stars PAM GRIER IS FABULOUS!!!! A GODDESS!!!!
This, together with "Foxy Brown", are my two favorite Pam Grier films. Pam Grier kicked butt on both films. Not only she is a great actress, she was and still today IS a total sex goddess!!!!"Coffy" always gets me in the end. After all these men used her, and abused her, after she gets her revenge, kills them all, and at the final scene, the picture of Pam walking alone at the beach, and the song, always gets me. There are times in our lives that in one way or another, we go thru that.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUNNY AND DARK AT THE SAME TIME
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It might not be up everyone's alley, but I thought the acting and script-writing made this a very entertaining film. In a short synopsis: The character Watty [Gil Bellows] and his girlfriend Starlene [Renee Zellweger] live in a trailer-home. Watty makes his living by robbing convenience stores. He wants to go straight, however, he has borrowed money from a loanshark and desperately needs to pay it back. Enter Dinosaur Bob [Jeffrey Combs] the aformentioned loanshark. He demands payment, or will settle matters the hard way. Dinosaur Bob is the funniest character of them all in this movie, [and there are plenty]. I think a movie could have been done with his character alone.
4-0 out of 5 stars The big score and an escape into Mexico (of course it doesn't run as smoothly as that)
As a fan of offbeat indie movies, especially those featuring drugs and crime, this was a not-to-miss DVD.I missed the original release in 1994, but I did see Natural Born Killers, and while I can see the similarities on the surface, they are really two very different movies.Watching this, I experienced twist after twist, so I never knew which of the underdogs was going to come out on top, or who was going to win this round of the battle for life.Renee Zellweger will shock the pants off the viewer as a young trailer park resident who turns to a life of serious crime and murder, so she's worth the price of admission alone.

4-0 out of 5 stars NOW we know where Tarentino COPIES his intensity! A#1 flick!
THIS is one of my MUST HAVE dvd's! The flick was first spotted on IFC channel and I WAS PROMPTLY DRAWN IN to the energy of this Indie jewel! If you enjoy believable action and complete realism, or if you've ever been down a Texas highway, view this gem! If you get into any ONE of the following, then this is your next movie...: HotPants, sex, drugs, Rock & Roll, pistols, law-gone-bad coppers, graphic violence, Texas twangs, Peter Fonda portraying a hippie or white girls seducing Mexican border guards. Now myself, Well, I love MY .45 so I dug the movie! Quintin T is no groundbreaker...this flick was his reference I'm betting... ... Read more
