5-0 out of 5 stars Stunning
I'm not a big fan of `kicking and punching' films. My partner is... so I've grown immune to them, to some degree. But Hero is one film that stands above all the others I've endured. The action is... well, the action you always get in this kind of film, but there's also so much more. A tender love story, plot twists, and some of the most stunningly beautiful cinematography you'll ever see. The colours, the flowing movements, the locations... it's like opening a box of chocolates and seeing all your favourites. Wonderful
3-0 out of 5 stars Jet Li's interpretation of the "One China" policy
I suppose I can't complain about a Chinese nationalist movie. After all, we have many ourselves, some of which are considered true classics (e.g., High Noon; Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) and some are kitschy classics (e.g., Red Dawn).
4-0 out of 5 stars The released from Edko Films was better.
I owned this dvd but it's a region 3 code and was released by Edko films. I have two edition of this movie, The Theatrical Version which presented in 2 disc and The Directors's Cut Version. I love everything about this movie and also the special features. I think that I have made the right choice by buying both edition because The Theatrical Version released in 2 disc which the second disc contains lots of supplement material such as the making, trailer, interview with the cast and crew, etc.and the The Director's Cut, only one disc which is it's an uncut version. I don't know well about the region 1 code dvdof this film. so my reviewed was based on the region 3. I've searched the comparison both region code dvd and bought the region 3 dvd straight away after I've found that region 3 was better for this film. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Visual splendour highlights martial arts-lovetriangle plot
"House of Flying Daggers" is one of the best-looking movies you'll ever see.Yimou Zhang, known for such over-the-top spectacles as 2002's Jet Li flick, "Hero," may be the most visually exuberant director this side of Baz Luhrmann.Whether it's an ornate reception hall, or a lush bamboo forest, or a snow-covered landscape, "House" cannot offer anything less than a breathtaking scene. 4-0 out of 5 stars The First Time This Was 5 Stars
The very first time I saw this amazing film I was wrapped around its finger. Everything about it is perfect from its scenery to the perfectly paced and executed fight scenes. After the first time you see it the more and more you watch it the more you notice little things that are big. Basically the things that made the film beautiful start to unravel. One thing I hate that I am seeing a lot of is the digital blood, so when someone is hit with one of the daggers it looks computer generated when the dagger hits someone and then the fake unneeded blood comes out. There are also the daggers that look digital and for some reason they feel the need to do a bunch of flips and turns while the dagger is in midair. Some of the scenery looks fake like in one scene Jin and Mei are walking down a hill and there is a very pretty background of trees and waterfalls but you notice that it's fake and looks like a painting. 4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent job from Zhang Yimou.
Another excellent job from Zhang Yimou. Also, my review still based on region 3 dvd for this film which was released by Edko Films. It's a 2 Disc Special Widescreen Edition. Everything is perfect for this dvd. The clearity of the picture and Dts Surround Sound was extremmely amazing. The special feature is in Chinese Mandarin and no subtitle. So you have to learn Mandarin or need a translator to understand what are the crew and the cast have said in their interviews. The bonus material includes the making, photo gallery, artwork gallery, cast and crew profile and the hidden menu which was really hard to access containing the music video, the way Andy Lau dubbing in studio and a few tv spot and trailer. ... Editorial Review

Audrey Hepburn's last Oscar nomination was for this adaptation of Frederick Knott's famed stage thriller about a blind woman, a con man (Alan Arkin), and a doll full of heroin. Thanks to Hepburn's husband, a photographer who does a good deal of traveling, she's unknowingly come into possession of said doll, which was given to him on a plane by a comely young drug runner who winds up dead. The murderous Arkin, aided by sympathetic henchman Richard Crenna, will let nothing stand in the way of his obtaining it, even if it comes down to assaying multiple "personalities" in order to visit and terrorize Hepburn; Crenna is unwillingly enlisted to help. However, the "world's champion blind lady" (as Hepburn sardonically states) is more than up to the task of defending herself in her basement Manhattan apartment in a heart-stopping climax that to this day still defines the way horror movies with jack-in-the-box psychos are made. Despite the obvious staginess of it all (the entire action takes place in Hepburn's apartment), it still works magnificently, thanks to Hepburn's steely will and Arkin's deadly, sadistic madman. A helpful hint: turn out all the lights when you watch it; theaters back in 1967 did so, killing the guiding lights during the film's last 15 minutes. We can't tell you why, but trust us, it's worth it. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic thriller
Frederick Knott's thriller is great on film, thanks mainly to some excellent performances from Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin. Henry Mancini's score is suitably eerie, and adds to a very tense and suspenseful movie.

    4-0 out of 5 stars A suspense-thriller to remember
The sense of something dangerous lurking in darkness is a common fear. This fright over something unseen can be apparent or not known. In the case of "Wait Until Dark," the audience but not the main character knows this threat. This puzzle raveling Hitchcockian technique creates frissons in the audiences' spine, when a blind woman, Susy (Audrey Hepburn,) gets into an all-night battle of wits with three men looking for a drug-stuffed doll in her home. Not knowing where the doll is, and what it contains, she has to find a way to survive the night.
5-0 out of 5 stars thriller
Audrey Hepburn was never better in this tight thriller. The surprise is just as dramatic now as it was on the big screen. good film! ... Read more

Never read the books. Played the games. LOVED the first game above all. The Dune original movie got over my head at the time. The miniseries on the other hand engulfed me into it's fantastic originality. "Children of Dune" is no exception. Flawless acting, brilliant story, decent special effects and the score will pull you into the scene constantly.

5-0 out of 5 stars I just love it!

San Francisco has been the setting of a lot of exciting movie car chases over the years, but this 1968 police thriller is still the one to beat when it comes to high-octane action on the steep hills of the city by the Bay. The outstanding car chase earned an Oscar for best editing, but the rest of the movie is pretty good, too. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars LIKE GETTING SHOT BY A BULLITT
Bullitt was one of the most overrated films I have seen in a very long time. As always Steve McQueen was cool in the movie but didn't show that much emotion to hold the viewers interest. The story itself was hard to follow, not because of a complex story but because they space the movie out with things that don't need to even be in the film like Bullitt picking up frozen food at the supermarket, going to the cafe, etc.
2-0 out of 5 stars Boring and overrated - but still required for McQueen fans.
Bullitt is the kind of movie that people like because it's popular, not because it's necessarily any good. When people talk about "tough cop" movies, this one always seems to come up in discussion, and invariably people will talk about the famous car chase scene. It has been called the best chase scene of all time.
5-0 out of 5 stars Mustang Lovers consider this movie a religion..
All the way, the best chase scene in motion pictures. Better than the Godfather, the 7-ups or any of those. Mcqueen was just a lock and load tough guy in this movie. No one will ever bang a 67 Coupe thru San Francisco the way Steve (or the driver double) did in this flick. The plot is your basic cop flick going after a killer/bad guy but don't try to fool anyone; You're waiting for that one shot whereSteve spots the black Charger and the chase is on.. The rest of the movie is basic cops and robbers. I liked the movie. By the way, if you have your video system is going thru your hifi, the chase scene is a full-on TURN-IT-UP-LOUD neccessity. To hear that Mustang banging thru the gears is just the way it should be. If your wife or girlfriend says its too loud, too bad. This is a guy flick from long ago.Have fun with Bullit. It was McQueens attempt at trying to do his own thing without Hollywood getting in his way. He almost pulled it off. Selmar productions died a quick death but left a legacy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best horror movie i've seen in a LONG time
Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) is been dead for years in the Real World and the Dream World. Since Freddy is literally in hell and forgotten in the real world. Freddy has a plan to bring back Crystal Lake serial killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger) to life in the real world. Freddy thinks that by bringing Jason back to life to bring fear on Elm Street and making teenagers believe in Freddy again, he can break loose from hell and restart his killing spree. However, now that Jason is a instant killing machine, he isn't willing to step aside, and with a terrified town in the middle, Freddy has to find a way to kill Jason by going in his dreams before Jason takes over Elm Street. A scared teenager (Monica Keena) finds a way to bring Freddy to reality from her dreams, thus pitching Freddy and Jason into a horrific and bloody showdown. 5-0 out of 5 stars Some Great Features Come With This Discs. . .

5-0 out of 5 stars The man of your dreams........oh, and that Jason guy!
ok, I am very critical of the movies I see.I am 33 years old, and I felt that this film was cheesy, stupid, not scary at all with no originality and I loved every minute of it!!Yes I did, and here is why??The film was a comic book, a monster movie that didnt take itself seriously at all.The whole tone of the film lends to that.I never thought id give this piece of trash 5 stars, but the fact that everyone involved just went for the cheesy factor and knew it......It's a fun film if you go in thinkin cheesy comic because that is exactly what it is.I loved it opening day and still love it now.The final fight at the end between these 2 juggernauts is fantastic!Check this out for cheap cheesy thrills!!!!!! 5-0 out of 5 stars VHS better than DVD?
If I could give this DVD four and a half stars, I would, but this is such a classic movie, I had to rate it higher. The DVD had the clarity, the trailers (which were awesome), and everything that I wanted, but for some reason, I noticed the DVD had some SMALL bits and pieces removed.Just small things like dialogue removed here and there, such as, when the college boys start chasing Daniel Stern after the moonlight serenade. It wasn't big, just something along the lines of "He has a Guitar" or something like that.I noticed part of the end bicycle race was maybe missing, too.Oh well.As a movie, I highly recommend this classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Breaking Away
This is one I remember watching as a kid and never leaving the television untill it was over. A true classic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Breaking Away - great fun for everyone
An excellent film with really funny scenes of growing up in the 70's. For a Brit of 31 years I grew up on films like this so this is my view of the U.S., probably a little rose tinted, but I don't care.

Like all the other pokemon movies and the series this is pretty gay. but this movie actually has some cool pokemon clashes in it! This means it's a little more violent then the others. The clashes between Deoxy and Rayquayza were epic and made me jump out of my seat once during a pokemon movie/episode. I'd just watch this for the action. But yoy shoul see the part where Rayquaza (The dragon) Created aHuge energy ball like Dragonball Z and fired it at Deoxys. you just gotta see this for yourself, but alot of this movie is boring stuff and once again you gotta see a few more team rocket moments which are the boringest. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Condensed version?
    This is rather a question.
4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!
A truly wonderfully made film, mostly accurate to scripture and brilliantly acted. Joseph's brothers are the stars here in their own right but Paul Mecurio is in fine form as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Remember the Biblical Account- without the kids
This movie was very well done- one of the best by this company.Just remember the story and don't watch it with your kids because they were very accurate about what happened with Potiphar's wife and Joseph's garment being left behind as well as the fact that she had been continually tempting him prior to this encounter. Also, they kept to the historical feautures in that the women wore fine linen that is fairly see-through.The only scene I remember being unhappy with was the baker beating Joseph in the prison (Not Biblical) and it isn't 3 days till they are brought out, though it may be that long till the events are otherwise fulfilled. There were a few other minor changes like that but none damaged the historical perspective. Also, I wish they had included Judah's offer of protection to Benjamin and his, therefore, being the one to offer himself in Benjamin's place. They show one offer but I assumed that was the other brother who made the initial offer and was refused since it was right when they got back to their father, just as the Bible portrays it. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Krull is dull
For starters, one witnesses what appears to be a large clump of 2x4's floating out in space, followed by a series of apparent environmental stock-footage with likewise accompanying music.

Its one of my favourite teenage movies, though I know some people may not like it. It was one of the first fantasy movies.

The world domination of Pokémon begets their first theatricalmovie. This adventure is a little more complex and dark than the popular TV series, but kids who live for the show will gobble up this film and ask for seconds. Those baffled by the show's popularity, however, will see nothing better here. Mewtwo, a new type of Pokémon designed by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, decides he wants to rule the world and challenges all the great Pokémasters to battle. Of course, ourintrepid heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock are there to tangle with Mewtwo and spoil his devilish schemes. The film is a tad more emotional than the show (that is, there is some emotion), with Ash sacrificing himself to defend his belovedPikachu (but don't you worry, Ash will be just fine). Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Movie
This is an O.K movie. I give it a 3.5. It starts out with the origin of Mewtwo, as using DNA from the legendary Pokemon Mew's eyebrow fossil to create a clone, Mewtwo. Soon, Team Rocket leader Giovanni tries to control Mewtwo after he destroys the lab from which he was born in, but Mewtwo has other plans, thinking his purpose is not to serve humans. So he invites the most powerful Pokemon trainers to the New Island to see who can stand up to him. But things get outta control when Mewtwo steals all the Pokemon in black Pokeballs and creates artificial "Super-Clones" to prove that clones are the strongest in the universe. But he didn't count on Ash, a young Pokemon Trainer. Ash destroys the cloning machine, thus bringing Mew to the scene and saving the captured Pokemon. Who'll win? The superclones or the originals? Mew or Mewtwo? You've got to see it to beleive it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very powerful
Now I saw some of the reviews on the site and some are bad and some go way far into the plot. Now as an adult I'm going to rate this. 5-0 out of 5 stars Mewtwo Strikes Back

Released in 1962, this first James Bond movie remains one of the best, and serves as an entertaining reminder that the Bond series began (in keeping with Ian Fleming's novels) with a surprising lack of gadgetry and big-budget fireworks. Sean Connery was just 32 years old when he won the role of Agent 007. In his first adventure James Bond is called to Jamaica where a colleague and secretary have been mysteriously killed. Sean Connery is "Secret Agent 007, "James Bond", in this first theatrical "james Bond" film that started it6 all (1962-2006).He continued to be Bond through 1967 and returned in 1971 and 1983.Six "official" films and one more declared "Unofficial" (Never Say Never Again, 1983) because it was made by a different production company, not EON Productions.

This was an excellent film that was true to the Novel. Also, Connery was at his best and was sharp.Bond girls was excellent especially Honey Rider. This movie is good to watch for those who have not seen a James Bond film. They don't make them like they used to.Also, Ian Fleming was alive at the time so he had alot of influence on how the movie turned out. ...

Selmar productions died a quick death but left a legacy. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

A title in the Danielle Steel Television Film Series, this four-hour drama unfolds the story of a multi-generational family beginning in the 1930s, based upon Steel’s book of the same name. After her first marriage dissolves, Sarah Thompson (Annette O’Toole) tours Europe and meets the charming William, Duke of Whitfield (Anthony Andrews) who captivates her and persuades her to marry him. They settle in a French chateau until World War II interrupts their marital bliss and William must join his regiment in war, leaving Sarah at home with a child. She contends with losses and loneliness until he returns home. Then, with a touch of serendipity, the couple begins a small jewelry business, which eventually expands into a thriving family endeavor. As her children grow into adults, Sarah’s intentional love toward them is her truest nobility. Though the second of this two-part series degrades, in part, from drama to soap opera, the overall effort receives merit for its notable acting and beautiful cinematography. Some domestic violence and sexuality. (Ages 16 and older) Read more

I sincerely only watched this movie for Anthony Andrews (ever since I saw him in Scarlet Pimpernel, I've tried to see all of his movies -- by the way, that is a movie everyone should see!), so this review might be a bit biased.

5-0 out of 5 stars The relationship that had existed between Redd Foxx and his character Fred Sanford was uniquely ironic.
One thing about this show about which I find particularly interesting is that Redd Foxx, the performer who played the lead character Fred Sanford, always had to pretend that he was having "the big one," that is, a heart attack. A vast majority of the 120+ episodes of this television show, which one can still view on TV Land today, consists of Redd's Fred going around saying something like, "Oh, this is the big one!" However, the interesting or ironic part of the story is that when Redd Foxx passed away, it was due to a heart attack, only this time, he was not faking.

4-0 out of 5 stars this is not a review but a question for reviewers
hi just wondering if anyone can tell me which season has the episode where fred thinks he has menopause if any one know please post it here thanks derek

5-0 out of 5 stars Left Side, Strong Side!!!!
Mann what can be said for such an inspiring movie.I have owned this movie for a couple years now and can honestly say it is watched no less than 20 times a year. This movie clearly illustrates change...how things will change...how change can be accepted by those who work hard for it... and how the younger generation can make it happen. This movie is acceptable in every kind of way...the actors/acting ability, the plots, and oh the music used during periods of the movie is brilliant, I even own the music DVD and keep it with me wherever I go!I highly recommend them both.Left side, Strong Side!!Watch the movie you'll get it.

    Wow,
5-0 out of 5 stars Do You Remember the Titans?
This 2000 release is nothing short of inspiring. It is a wonderful example of the hardship many faced when the clashing of the black and white occurred. Like the fine example of white bartenders and owners refusing to give service to black people, or telling them to go out back to get food instead of getting served as equals to white people.

5-0 out of 5 stars ACharming wonderful film.
Jacqueline Bisset in a wet T-shirt. Five stars.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forget Into the Blue, this is a much better movie !
2005 remake of the Deep (into the blue) is not bad. But the Deep (1977) is a much better film. The photography is much nicer, and in my humble opinion, even the sexy Jessica Alba is no match to miss Bisset in her prime. And Louis Gosset Jr is one of the best villain of all time in this movie. The treasure hunt story is OK, predictable but quite entertaining. The new budget DVD is presented only in Full Screen which is a big disappointment, find the older release which include both WS and FS Version. Highly recommended and did I mention Bisset's Wet T Shirt. Classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the last great adventures with Robert Shaw
The late, great Robert Shaw returns to sea in one of his final screen appearances with a young Nick Nolte and the beautiful Jacqueline Bisset in a fast-paced deep-sea thriller! Nolte and Bisset stumble on the wreckage of an 18th-century treasure ship and must race a local drug dealer for the plunder.Filmed in six oceans around the world, this great adventure story is even more captivating for the visual splendor of the deep. The underwater sequences are spectacular, and despite its age (released in 1977), "The Deep" still entertains. highly recommend ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Thanks to a greedy Pokémon collector, Earth's weather patterns are askew and its population doomed unless Pokémon trainer Ash can return three glass balls to their proper place in this second Pokémon feature. Unlike the television show, the movie features little violence and no Pokémon battles in the classic sense. Instead, the focus is an environmental one: what happens when humans interfere with the harmony of Earth's elements--in this case fire, ice, and lightning. Even Team Rocket have a (temporary, to be sure) change of heart, joining Ash and Misty in their effort to free the three imprisoned birdlike Pokémon who regulate those elements. The good intentions of this 76-minute film, however, don't make it any less dull for grownups (even though this feature is better than the first). Even more mind-numbing than the feature is the lead-in short, "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure," in which Pikachu and Pokémon friends follow Team Rocket's feline down a hole into a Munchkinland-type place. Without the humans for dialogue, viewers must endure a full 20 minutes of nothing but the squawks and squeaks of pocket monsters. As the movie's title song says, "We all live in a Pokémon world." 5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this movie!
I remember seeing this movie in theatres when I was around 7, and I really loved it!! Needless to say, this was my favorite movie out of the pokemon saga, especially since we see some my favorite character, Articuno. I was watching this yesterday, and let me tell you, when youre older, the movie has a whole new depth, I was crying at the ending. This movie is more entertaining then the first one (not to say the first one was bad, I loved it) I highly reccomend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of the Movies
This is the best of the Pokemon movies that I have seen. I actually won tickets to and attended the premiere in Los Angeles for this film and sat next to one of the creators of the film (a treat in its own right). While the plot line may be simple (boy must save world), the little details and the inter-connectedness of the Pokemon and the world speak to humanity and its often overlooked connection to the Earth. If anything just give the movie a chance. The score is actually really good (still have the promo cd I got at the premiere). Just enjoy some good anime :).

3-0 out of 5 stars Choice Soap History
This is one of 3 TV Roman docudramas floating around these days -- the other 2 being Pompeii and Julius Caesar -- and all told they reprepresent an improvement over the Charleston Heston/Yul Brenner sort of soap epic we were raised on.Technology and care improve the sets; audience demands raise the script. And here, the casting is a special plus.
4-0 out of 5 stars good history movie
the story of Emperor Augustus Caesar. A small cast budget, However very well written with great acting and photography. Highly recommended for the History movie lovers or anyone who thinks Alexander, Troy or Kingdom of heaven are good movies.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Mini-Series
I discovered Augustus purely by change but I am glad that I did because this Italian television production is very good. I was thinking that Augustus would be something of a soap opera like HBO's Rome but it is an intelligent and well-written telling of Augustus' life. There are instances where events have been changed and people are left out of the story but to be able to fit the main events of Augusts' life into a 3 hour program is a remarkable achievement.
