3-0 out of 5 stars less exciting than other seasons
First of all , i'm a die hard Sopranos fan . I own all 5 seasons . Seasons 1-5 were all pretty good , some standing out more than others . My favorite episode was Seasons 3 Pine Barrens . Anyway , season 6 was pretty dissappointing for me . The Vito storyline was drawn out way to long . Everyone knew he was gay , but they seemed to devote half the episodes just to vito . They coulda tied that story up in one , maybe two episodes . It seemed the writer was trying ride off the success of Brokeback Mountain .Tonys near death experience was pretty good touch though . Especially the changes he made after his coma . Anyway , I hope the next half is better .

3-0 out of 5 stars Half the season, half the quality of previous seasons...
Season six, part one?Trying to make money due to a hiatus that should not have occurred, but who could blame them. However, I would of just called it quits on season six with 12 episodes and have a final season seven.I hope that when season six part two comes out, we will have the option of buying the complete season instead of buying part one and part two.As far as season six, it is by far not the best and this is regrettably being said by one of greatest Sopranos fans there are.I have always liked the writing, the acting and the plot.In fact, episode one of season six is one of the best episodes ever made, but for the most part of season six, part one, it has been lackluster to the point of almost boring on occasions.Yes, there were some good plot twists, some great acting and some very good writing that deals with subject matter not normally associated with this genre of television or movies. My rating of this box set or the first 12 episodes is a comparison with the first five "full" seasons in which I own the box sets. The show is aging, maturing to the point where you know you are being led to its finale. What the show is doing well is that it is not leaving really any clues as to what to expect for part two--which my hope is that the show rebounds and finishes with a literal bang.God save Tony and please give us a movie for the real finale. For those of you, I hope you TIVO'd the first 12 episodes like I did, that way you don't have to buy "part one" and wait for the entire season to end and hopefully be able to buy the entire season for about the same price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still the Sexiest Show
This show is completely inexplicable to me.Despite the fact that the people and the stories are so evil and sick, it still turns me on.I cannot figure out why, but I just know it's true.Tony, I love you!I can't help it.I'll probably keep loving you even after somebody whacks you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production. No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.
2-0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast
Yep, Disney animation. All my students see this movie at some point between leaving high school and when I meet them as university students. Sometimes, their Chinese university teachers show it to them in class. So, I thought I'd see why they love it so much. I'm still wondering. This is a two-page short story, not a film. But on the bright side, if you skip all the songs it's under an hour. I've never enjoyed a singing toon in my life. ... Read more

The film initiates with two small-time thieves, Honey Bunny and Pumpkin, who spontaneously decide to hold up a restaurant. The film then shifts to the story of Jules and Vincent, who are hitmen for the well-known and feared Marsellus Wallace, who is caught up in a deal gone wrong with struggling boxer Butch Coolidge.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, everything about it.
Yes a bit strange but I loved this movie! My boyfriend and my mom recommended Pulp Fiction to me and now I recommend it to you!I loved how it all fit together but was in like 5 different chapters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Film And Terrific Writing!
"Pulp Fiction is not an overrated film, in fact it is an outstanding film. There are quite a few reviews here, therefore, I will be short. Having seen 'Resevoir Dogs' and liking it very much, I was really impressed with Tarantino's follow-up of "Pulp Fiction."One of the things I really liked about this film, to name just one, was the different offbeat characters that Tarantino put into the film. From John Travolta, [as Vinny the nutcase with a penchant for killing] to Samuel L. Jackson, as Travolta's stone cold killer partner; these two characters alone made the film terrific.

Rather than adapting the genre of cartoon to film, this movie adapts film to cartoon, as explained in the extra features part of the DVD. That's a helpful insight. What's best about the movie is the visual experience. The sparing use of color, the digital experimentation, the combination of human actors and cartoon backgrounds, the voice-overs, etc. All this is very interesting and seductive to watch -- and it distances the viewer from the appalling violence, making it much easier to take and much less genuinely threatening. I really don't think anyone will be inspired to take a gun to a mob from watching this film. It's ultimately a very sophisticated cartoon.

3-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
This movie was pretty good. I liked the witch. She is my favorite character because she is a pretty bad villain and I like villains. The parts of the movie that I liked best were the parts with the Wizard and the Munchkins.Once Dorothy and the scarecrow, lion and tin man reach Oz, it gets very interesting. You finally get to see the place they've been following the yellow brick road for. It's cool.I am six.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Version of the Wizard of Oz yet
Known to all, this is the story of Dorothy Gale and herjourney to the magical land of Oz. She meets a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a cowardly lion who desperately needs courage. The most popular film of all time , seen by over a billion people. It's timelessness is proof enough of its value . Certainly flawed when scrutinized and written about for 56 years, but still most beloved. In 1998 rereleased on the big screen: magic. And admittedly the most important film of my life: As a child I was obsessed with the film and only a little less now.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Never Gets Old
"The Wizard Of Oz" is a film truly worthy of the title timeless. No matter how many times, you can't help but be amazed by the sense of wonder and inspiration this film creates. Even after 67 years, it's still one of the most impressive and uplifiting moments in cinema.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite different from Volume 1 but also astonishing
The second part of Tarantino's martial arts epic is quite different from the first in many aspects. It begins with more revelations about what happened to the massacre at the small chapel and goes on with the revenge taken by the "bride". This time though the bad people have some nasty surprises for the heroine who faces the most desperating situation that you can imagine. I really enjoyed the flash-back to the heroine's training as a student of a cruel but wise Chinese master of martial arts and the fight with the one-eyed opponent had a very deserving and surprising finale. Bill has also some aces up in his sleeve but not the ultimate one which the "bride" applies in the end. A powerful and more philosophical film than Part One. The end is a triumph of love, as simple feelings of the kind that ordinary people experience, overcome and transform the highly trained killer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The secrets of Kill Bill 1&2
Ok,ill just inform yall on something but first for anyone whos seen the first and not the second well just so you dont have to wait any longer her name is Biatrix Kiddo,oh and just so you know i lied im not actually gonna give all the secrets i just told you what her name was so you diddnt freak your serlves out about it,anyways this one to me was some what better than the first(which was fantastic)when i saw the second kill bill movie at first i wasnt so sure if she was gonna have it in her to kill you-know-who and even though uma therman isnt so pretty shes an extraordinary actress i always loves how she got in to her character.well i dont wanna give to to much away well i think youll like this one a little bit better than the first
5-0 out of 5 stars Tragic Love Story
Despite all the violence, at its core, Kill Bill 2 is a love story. The Bride, played by Uma Thurman, is physically tortured during certain scenes in this movie. However, the emotional distress she experiences concerning her feelings for Bill is extraordinary. It is obvious she is deeply conflicted and confused. It is also apparent that The Bride and Bill share a deep bond despite attempts to kill each other. This is especially evident during her the last scene involving The Bride and Bill. This movie comes highly recommended. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Tarantino..but too much for newcomers?
The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad are made up of five most deadly killers, led by Bill. There is O'Ren-Ishii as Cottonmouth, Elle Driver as California Mountain Snake, Vernita Green as Copperhead, Budd as Sidewinder. The main character is called 'The Bride', who is an Ex Deadly Viper, but quit because of pregnancy. On her wedding day on El Paso Texas, Bill and the gang showed up and killed all at the chapel.
    3-0 out of 5 stars Just A'iight!
I borrowed this from a friend, my buddy Bobby Asslong, who is normally very keen in his reviews and referrals. But he missed the mark with this one.He called it a true classic, with the markings of an award winner. I call it, a bloody awful, overrated Shanghai extravaganza. Not bad, but certainly not as good as it was hyped.
4-0 out of 5 stars Not a big fan of the Q-man
What critics see as paying homage to the 70's film styles,I think is very shrewd copy catting.Be that as it may, this movie was a hoot to watch and David Carridine looks terrific for his age, he must be pushing 70.I never thought Uma was anything close to pretty, but she does have a certain vunerable toughness about her, so she was good in this role.Who really blew me away was Daryl Hannah, I thought the fake nurse looked familiar but I couldn't place her until I read the credits and saw her name, she was excellent and unexpected. She never had a part like this one, she should do more roles like this because she certainly shined in this movie.I thought she deserved more attention.Enjoy! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Possible product packaging issue
I purchased the boxed set in mid-August 2006 and unfortunately, due to a defective disk, returned it immediately.I say unfortunately because the set was immaculate otherwise.Amazon's replacement service kindly sent a replacement set the day I was sending the original back--gotta love that; thanks Amazon!HOWEVER, the replacement was not packaged completely. My replacement set did not include individual cardboard envelopes for the three plastic hard cases.(The holder which holds the three hard cases together was there; but each hard case is further protected by a cardboard envelope, which helps keep them from rubbing against each other in the holder. This is important; because each hard case has chrome-like lettering which could rub off over time without the added protection. This is apparently a QC issue wherever the sets are assembled--I do not think Amazon was to blame). So, regrettably, I returned this set as well.Just be aware you may receive a set which doesn't contain individual cardboard envelopes for each plastic hard case.If you can live with that, it's no big deal and you will love this set--I'm just picky!Star Trek rules! And thanks again, Amazon, for your superb customer service!

1-0 out of 5 stars RIP OFF!!!
How long is Paramount going to milk the Star Trek name? There is NO WAY I'm going to cough up $175 for a DVD set of three seasons of ANY show.
5-0 out of 5 stars Huge price drop just in time
They are going to be re-releasing the original series with added computer generated graphics and effects. When I found this out I went to Amazon to check used copies of the original series so I would have a collection of the origial series without the added CGI.The whole series used to cost upwards to $400 at some retailers, and I was able to pick it up just now brand new off Amazon for ~$175, which is still steep for a non-fan, but is a great deal if like me you want to have a collection of the original series, especially before they add the CGI. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars "Somebody has to go to jail, Ben."
In the film 'National Treasure,' Nicolas Cage plays Ben, a character who must save the genuine Declaration of Independence from being stolen before an assembly of greedy treasure hunters can get their hands on it. It is believed that the Declaration of Independence contains a secret treasure map, but the task of getting to it without getting stopped by security personnel is going to be far from simple. I would say that this is a pretty decent film that is worth seeing at least once or twice. It is from Disney, has a PG rating, and contains plenty of watchable action sequences and educational references. If you are a fan of this film and own a Sony PlayStation Portable, then you are in luck, as the film is available on the system's UMD format, making it accessible to 'National Treasure' fans on the go.
5-0 out of 5 stars YAY BILL!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars All in all, I really liked it
I mean, it's not a movie that I would typically choose to watch myself, but my SO and the kids wanted to see it, so I agreed. It's kinda cute, little romance, little action, some bad acting by Nicholas Cage (but what else is new there?) and a little humor. Over the top in some places, but that's part of its charm.

5-0 out of 5 stars While You Were Sleeping DVD
"While You Were Sleeping" has become one of my very favorite movies, so easy to watch, or to relax and fall asleep to. So nice.It has no violence. It does have intelligent humor, and loving family relationships, and deep friendships, and understanding and acceptance. And welcoming hearts. It is happy and funny and romantic and touching, and not slow or tedious. The actors in this film are absolutely perfect for

I really enjoy this movie. In fact, I've watched it more than once.It not only is a comedy, it also has some romance and sweetness in it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sweet homophobic Alabama
Hesitation over the title of this review was purely for consideration of people who might have taken offense at the use of homosexuality in the traditional role as a comedic device for dehumanizing people. In this Fantasy Fashion Designer Barbie role play kit, we are presented with two suspect homosexuals, the flamboyantBlack assistant fashion designer, and the quarry closethomosexual who has to have his disorder pointed out to him, preferably in an embarrassing public denunciation.Barbiehas tolearntheneed for her toscriptandtypecast sexuality aroundher because she is the sensation (fem fatal) for persuasion predominant in the sphere of people around her.A Countrified Fantasy Fashion Designer Barbie Killer Instinct--role play kit. And it is perhaps an interesting microcosm of analysis to vaguely note the teddy bear appeal assigned to the openly gay Black character, artistic, talented and unflinching. It is the idea that for women, gay men make the best friends, that I won't quote yet I seem to have heard it somewhere in the cultural media stream at some time in the past. Thus a possible depolarizing of "sexual prowess" is covertly used to adjust traditional racial stereotypes, (and that term is taken straight from multicultural theory). Further complicating the plight of the Black male character in the film, is the Civil War reinactment-buffooning in the presumably lingering prejudicial South, where no doubt the image of African Americans as sexually iconoclastic, bandages woundedWhite male libido traditionally injured by jibes of phallic innuendo.Surely considerate people everywhere are tired of this dredging up of unpleasant or bawdy associations; circumcision is perhaps the original anthrospecific-insult (precursor to sexual dysfunction then marital dysfunction and the whole syndrom of social ills that erode social fabric from its core) but anthropologically the film is enriched elsewhere.
3-0 out of 5 stars A simple country girl.
Sweet Home Alabama tries to be a cute and funny romantic comedy but just ends up falling a few centimeters short of brilliant. Reese Witherspoon plays Melanie, a fashion designer who resides in New York but now she must go back to the state she was born and raised, Alabama and must find her husband to get a divorce as soon as possible since her new boyfriend has proposed marriage to her, but unknown to him he doesn't know about Melanie's marriage to a good ole country boy back in sweet home Alabama. Her husband is played by the very hunky Josh Lucas and the soon to be finacee is played by Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey. This film has some sweet and tender moments and I think the orginal ending to the film was better but the director, Andy Tennant was told to change it because the ending was considered too depressing, Tennant explains in further detail in the special features section. Witherspoon can make any mediocre film seem better than it actually is, a so-so film, decide for yourself on this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Story of an Overachiever in Sports.
This film documents the training and durability of Steve Prefontaine from Oregon to become a track star who overcame all odds to win.In his early live, he had been picked on by bullies because of his mother's nationality so, like Forrest Gump, he had to learn to run fast from those crass youngsters. When he finished high school, he was courted by several universities but chose to stay in his home state to be trained by Bill Bowerman at the University of Oregon.
4-0 out of 5 stars A very good bio pick of a great runner who died too young
Steve Prefontaine, a record setting middle distance runner, won all his races against Americans. He led his race in the 1972 Olympics but faded to fourth by a breath. He died in a car accident (drinking was involved, but to what degree is debated) in 1975 at the age of 24.All admit that he wasn't the perfect physical specimen for a runner, but he was gritty and tenacious and would not give anything less than everything he had.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This is such a great true story of a man that we can all look up to.Prefontaine was an amazing runner who was the holder of every American distance-running record from 2,000 to 10,000 meters. The cast is top quality and the story will make you clue yourself to the seat so get some pop corn and a drink before you start because this is an amazing movie about a man who was spectacular. ... The Luther movie is not totally historical, but it gets there. The original black and white movie is more in line with the historical Luther than this later remake, but overall a good movie.
5-0 out of 5 stars Headwaters of the Reformation
This was an interesting presentation of Martin Luther's life, moving from student to priest to leader of a protestant movement. The insights into family life, church life and political life were great.I really enjoyed this film.

5-0 out of 5 stars MORE THAN ENTERTAINMENT
Luther captures the flavor of the times during the most corrupt period of the Catholic Church. The acting is superb, as is the cinematography.

The misconception about this animated film from Disney was that it was a movie for kids--something Victor Hugo never had in mind. In fact, despite a cute brace of singing gargoyles who are Quasimodo's (Tom Hulce) best friends, this version of Hugo's classic tale is really adult entertainment, with a strong set of songs by Alan Menken. The story remains mostly the same (though tricked out with a happier ending than Hugo's): Quasimodo, the ward of repressive monk Frollo, falls for a gypsy girl named Esmerelda (Demi Moore)--though she loves one of the king's guards (Kevin Kline). But they are all put in jeopardy by the wicked Frollo, whose secret passion for Esmerelda leads him to seek her death. At times too dark and even a shade kinky, something that may scare younger viewers. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic, beautiful, one of the best!
Disney has outdone itself with this one! It's a story both dark and bright, sweet and sour that leaves you with a sad feeling of fatelity and a beautiful feeling of proper closure!

1-0 out of 5 stars Should have been PG 13
I saw this movie and was shocked at the contents, considering that it was aimed at children. It starts out with the gypsy Esmeralda doing a very provocative stripper style pole dance. While no stripping happened, there wasn't much other difference in the style of dance. Later in the movie, one of the men is obsessing over her in a manner I would never want my children to see. He sings a song about how she will burn in hell if he doesn't have her, and meanwhile a vision of her provocative dancing is playing out in the flames of a fire. Regardless of the rest of the movie, these two scenes make this highly innapropriate for children. Not to mention that the story is very untrue to the novel, which had a tragic ending rather than a happy ever after one.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Movies of All Time!
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is such an incredible movie! The animation is flawless, the music is heart-pounding, and the actors are superior!

Frida is luscious eye candy from beginning to end; so beautiful it could be enjoyed without sound. This is due to its subject, its star, and its director, Julie Taymor, who also gave us the astounding Titus.(If you have not yet seen Titus, do so before finishing this review - it is an art director's tour de force on a par with Brazil.)

You can immediately feel that you are a part of history and even when you know their (Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera) story you still get surprised amused and amazed. I have seen their actual work and this film brings it back. For people that do not know their story this is an excellent introduction. I found it interesting how Frida (Selma Hayek) and Diego (Alfred Molina) complimented each others personality so well from the beginning until where we leave them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding And Unforgettable Film!
I liked this film when I first viewed it, [it was so different] and it still holds up great today. There have been countless reviews of this film, so I will be brief. When this film was released in 1992, it was new. The originality was totally different and the characters were hilarious. Since that time, the film industry have come out with many films trying to be similar. However, this one was the first. It is also one of the greatest crime-thriller-suspense films ever released. The characters and dialogue are unforgettable. Not only that, but the ensemble of the actors for the film pulled it off magnificantly.
5-0 out of 5 stars Quentin Tarantino's debut masterpiece
Never has such a movie with so much talking and so little action has given me such a rush like this movie. Quentin Tarantino's Resevoir Dogs is an example of the way movies should be these days. This movie doesn't get by with over the top action sequences and bloody fist fights like most other crime based movies do( don't get me wrong, there are quite a few gun fights in this movie) but instead gives us a well structured movie showing the aftermath of an almost failed diamond heist.
4-0 out of 5 stars Quentin's best film....great the first time...subsequent viewings, not so good...
When I saw this film, I really liked it.It was visceral, interesting, and unforgettable. It's a film of great style, but it's completely void of substance and has no depth. While you marvel at it the first time, subsequent viewings reveal that it is really a shallow piece of cinema, and hollow to its very core.It indulges in its violence, while pretending to have the characters care about each other. The "friendship" between Tim Roth and Harvey Keitel's characters isn't believable at all. There's merely one scene in which they look at the bank they're going to rob, make a joke about a chick, say "let's get a taco", and that's it.Now we're supposed to believe their friends, and that Keitel is willing to die for his friend. One would hardly think this would form a bond so strong. It's almost like Quentin said "ok, they have to have a bonding scene here", and he thought of the most generic one he could think of.The out of time structure is not especially original, as it has been done before (and much better) in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America, Stanley Kubrick's The Killing, and Clint Eastwood's Bird). Some of the characters have that arrogant smugness that permeated many films in the 1990's as well. So, is it still good?Yes, you should see it once or twice, but don't expect to resonate over the years like great films usually do...

4-0 out of 5 stars Open's Your Eyes
This movie is a real eye opener. Set to a high octane techno soundtrack, Lola (Franka Potente) must help her boyfriend Manni get 100,000 or his life will be in grave danger. There are three scenarios of what can/could happen, and it's an eye opener because it shows how easily your life can change in a matter of minutes. I definitely recommend it!

4-0 out of 5 stars No, there's no cause and effect here
For me, this movie got off on the wrong foot when it posed a question and left us hanging for the answer. It basically asked us what the one question in life is, and what that answer is, then suggested that both the question and answer were obvious, and left it there without providing its answers.I could have done without that bit of annoying stupidity.
5-0 out of 5 stars High octane adrenaline rush for the eyes...
`Run Lola Run' is like `Groundhog Day' on speed, with maybe a hit of `Kill Bill, Vol. 1' in there for good measure. It follows Lola (Potente) as she races to get 100,000 deutschemarks for her boyfriend Manni (Bleibtreu) who is in debt to a seedy gangster with no patience or mercy. She has twenty minutes to do so and what makes this film unique is that it is very time conscious.Tom Tykwer accurately takes twenty minutes (or VERY close to) with each of Lola's attempts to save her boyfriend.
