1-0 out of 5 stars Paris When It Fizzles
In 1964 when this movie came out in the theaters the reviews it got were not good.I was 14 at the time and remember my mother reading about it in the newspaper, and the headline for this movie was "Paris When It Fizzles."There was little chemistry between Hepburn and Holden. When I finally saw the movie. They were right.I simply like both actors, mainly because I liked them in "Sabrina" but, like the critics said; it fizzled.

3-0 out of 5 stars Paris When it Sizzles 1964
William Holden (1918-1981) portrays a screenwriter with a script deadline in three days . When he ask secretary Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) to help concord ideas , she acts out a potpouri of preposterous plots . Beutifully shot on location in paris by famed Cinematrographer Claude Renoir (1914-1993) and here is another chance to see old Paris from 1963 . Yes , the story and the plot are not the most suspense, but i give a 3 stars for this maybe not the best , but anyway a entertaining movie . High Quality transfer .

I purchased this DVD because a friend thought this movie was the inspiration for the television series, "Bewitched."I thought a better candidate was "I Married a Witch."
5-0 out of 5 stars An urban witch
Set in New York City, starting on Christmas Eve, this 1958 film has James Stewart playing Shep Henderson, a publisher who has just recently moved into an apartment, and now meets his neighbors.Downstairs there is a shop maintained by Gillian Holroyd (played by Kim Novak), a woman with particular powers to get what she wants, and who has a cat named Pyewacket (Pi for short).Upstairs is Gillian's aunt Queenie (played by Elsa Lanchester) who also has a little power of her own.

4-0 out of 5 stars LIKE DICKENS-A CHRISTMAS CAROL?
This is not your typical Jack Lemon or Doris Day comedy. It's an old fashioned heart felt story where the bad guy has a touch of consious and becomes a little bit good, like Scrooge. I liked it.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Happened to Jane
I enjoyed the DVD, of course I have reason to really enjoy it as it was filmed in the town of Chester, Ct. where I lived for 18 years. I like all movies with Doris Day, too bad that it didn't make the big time as I think it is a good story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice movie
This is a typical nice Doris Day movie. It's a movie about the little guy fighting the big guy.Doris Day being the little small business owner, who happens to ship lobsters. It's not a serious social statement type film, has some laughs.Doris Day is as good as she is in any of her films.I bought this film for my mother who likes to watch older musicals and comedy films. She liked it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love endures
I loved this movie when I saw it for the first time.I guess it sort of haunted me, because many years later I found myself racking my brain for the name of it so I could buy it and watch it again.I looked up Nancy Kwan online and found the title.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Touching Hong Kong Love Story
William Holden plays Robert Lomax, an American architect who takes a year off from work to pursue his dream of making it as an artist. He moves to Hong Kong and sets up house in a cheap hotel plagued with prostitutes. He uses one, Suzie Wong (played by Eurasian actress Nancy Kwong), as a model for his paintings and she soon falls in love with him.To complicate matters, the daughter of a prominent HK-based British banker also falls for Lomax, and he ultimately must decide between Wong, to whom he seems more attracted but whose occupational background he finds troubling, and the more socially prominent Englishwoman.
5-0 out of 5 stars THe World of Suzie Wong
I would rate this movie as one of the best Love Stories out there. William Holden is one of my all time favorite actors. He is so smooth when he does a picture, you cannot believe he is acting. Nancy Kwan (Suzie Wong)in her first big role, is awesome and beautiful. This movie has drama, which makes it even more wonderful to watch. Highly recommend this movie. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Passion is NOT a dirty word!"
Larry (Kirk Douglas) meets Maggie (Kim Novak) and sparks start flying as soon as their eyes meet (during the opening credits!).They both have spouses, but are bored and, of course, unappreciated at home.Soon they're lying to their mates and meeting regularly for romantic trysts.Eventually, the truth comes out and Larry must choose between Maggie and his family.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sheer Chemistry
One of my favorite Kim Novak and Kirk Douglas films. A bittersweet tale of love between two people married to others. Can't help but wonder what their lives would be like if only they had met years ago. Happy to discover this gem on DVD. Very well acted with featured roles portrayed by Ernie Kovacs and Walter Matthau.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best sex comedy of the early 60s
Another masterpiece written by George Axelrod (Lord Love A Duck, 7 Year Itch, Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?), this film is the penultimate sex comedy of its day. This was made when Hollywood actually made films about adults, before youth culture erased that demographic, never to return. The scenes of the war between the sexes have never been funnier, culminating in the great courtroom scene where a juror is goaded by Lemmon to push an imaginary button that would erase his wife, and the juror yelling at his wife, "Shut up, you old bat!," as he gleefully pushes it. The scenes of Lemmon's bachelor pad are priceless, if only that's how comic artists really lived! This is essential viewing, next ot A Guide to the Married Man.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny movie!!!!
This is one of my favorite Jack Lemmon movies! It's a well done story with some great actors. If you like old movies you should try this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars NOT An Instructional Video
This wicked little comedy could never be filmed today, and not merely because the dilemma that Stanley Ford (Jack Lemmon) finds himself in has been all but eliminated by "no fault" divorce laws.As Stanley's butler, Charles Burbank (Terry-Thomas), gleefully announces at the beginning, this is a movie for men only.Women will not appreciate it at all unless they have a good sense of humor; stereotypical feminists would be well advised not to bother.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but a bit of a let down
This is a very funny spoof of not just Naked Gun and Lethal Weapon, but every other movie in the genre. There's so many, I've even noticed a few that I missed the first few times I watched it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Heh, there's no Loaded Weapon 2
I'm really tired of critics trashing this movie, going so far as to say it's National Lampoon's worst. Have you seen what NL has been releasing? A big fan of NL, I rented a few of their recent movies, and the closest I got to laughing was during Gold Diggers, which was only kind of funny, but the best of the latest NL movies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accuracy
As a fan of the show I KNOW this is not a spin off, this was actually an individual show which was to be titled "Sex Crimes". The network decided to type this into the Law and Order show which was already a hit. This show is insitful and riviting. Each deals with a series of social and moral issues. This is an excellent show which deserves to be watched by all.

5-0 out of 5 stars it takes me back
I saw this movie when I was a teenager and going to the movies was a big thing for me then-----what I remember best about it was the terrific dancing----and, of course, who could ever get tired of looking at Janet Leigh---seeing it again enables one to look at it more closely and realize how really enjoyable it is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ruth, Eileen and their 'wonderful town'...
MY SISTER EILEEN was Columbia's answer when they could not secure the film rights to WONDERFUL TOWN, the hugely-successful Broadway musical version of Ruth McKenney's "Eileen Stories".Columbia had previously filmed MY SISTER EILEEN to acclaim in 1942 with Rosalind Russell as Ruth and Janet Blair as Eileen.Roz later wowed Broadway when she made her musical Ruth debut in WONDERFUL TOWN in 1953 (playing the role again for a TV version of the tuner in 1957).This musical version of MY SISTER EILEEN features a score that cannot even compare with that for WONDERFUL TOWN (despite the music by Jule Styne - `Mr Broadway Overture' himself).
5-0 out of 5 stars A charming, screwball musical
Most folks will pay attention to this film becuase it's an early piece by choreographer Bob Fosse -- but it is a fun bit of froth that easily stands on its own.An absolutely delightful musical comedy, starring Betty Garrett as a smart smalltown girl determined to make it in New York City. She moves there with her with her glamourous, ditzy sister Eileen, whose good looks open more doors than do Garrett's brains and moxie.A nice film about struggling to get ahead in the Big Apple, with a script that takes its time and several exuberently goofy dance numbers, gleefully choreographed by a young Bob Fosse, who also plays one of the sister's avid suitors. The penultimate dance scene is side-splittingly hilarious, featuring a swarm of recently disembarked Cuban sailors on the prowl for American women, who form an inexhaustable conga line that snakes chaotically through the gal's tiny apartment.Thoroughly entertaining... a great, lighthearted film with some fabulous acting and bright, winning performances by all involved. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Cute film with top cast
Solid Gold Cadillac is a wonderful example of 1950's comedies. It was very well cast, not only Judy Holliday, but the rest of the supporting cast was great. The script was sharp and funny. It had funny, well-written characters. The film moves well. It's wholesome, clean fun with a nice message and a nice ending.4-0 out of 5 stars Woman changes stockholder business. Special color scenes.
Another Judy Holliday film. This one with Paul Douglas, Fred Clark, Arthur O'Connell and narration by George Burns.Judy Holliday (as "Laura Partridge") attends a stockholder's meeting. The meeting goes by too routinely. They almost neglect to see the waving hand of Miss Holliday.Naturally being a stockholder herself, she has a question to ask, before they vote for Treasurer. She does ask some very simple, honest questions, but these white-collar showboats just can't give her an honest answer without the push-off or feeding their face.Well, this smart blonde woman makes a motion and since she does own 10 shares, she would like to form a stockholders committee of her own to discuss the "too big" salaries of the showboats. She does get involved and this woman will make some unselfish changes.Watch the business and the fun begin. The ending of the film changes to color. ... He stars as Marcos De Santos, a Robin Hood style thief who wants to escape his life of crime and spend the rest of his days with his girlfriend. Problems arise when his partners talk him into doing one last job - to steal a priceless Mongolian artifact. Now, anyone with less than a minutes attention span will already guess that this a big con, and our hero De Santos is presumably left for dead. Quickly rescued by the owners of the stolen artifact and nursed back to good health, he is sent to get it back. Buddy-style antics are the order of the day as De Santos is partnered by a Mongolian bodyguard, and between the two of them they kick, punch and fight their way through 90 minutes of redneck beating, coconut crushing and major kickboxery mayhem!
