4-0 out of 5 stars Getting Started.
I don't have HBO.In fact, I don't even have cable. However, I have friends who do and when some of them were talking about the latest season of the HBO show, ENTOURAGE, I had no idea what they were talking about or what the hype was about. Then this past summer I was staying at a hotel and was flipping through the channels and came across an episode of ENTOURAGE (Season 3) that had just started.Actually, I didn't even know it was ENTOURAGE until after the show ended. But, I had been intrigued by the opening scene and sat fascinated for over twenty minutes. The writing was superb and I found myself compelled by the characters on the screen and wanted to see what would happen to them next.I had become hooked and a fan just through that one episode.
2-0 out of 5 stars At times laughable, overall uneventful
Fairly well shot and sprinkled with comedic wit, this show is rather lacking in the areas of storyline and character development.Three friends riding the wave of partying and excitment formed by their up-and-coming actor friend destined to be the 'next big thing'.The premise was ok, but unfortunately nothing ever really seems to happen in these shows. The plot moves slowly, if at all, and when an opportunity arrives for the writers to create some real tension or excitment, they side-step it.It appears that the real premise for each episode is to dangle nice cars, attractive women, and countless cameos in front of the viewer so that he/she fills with desire for such a lucrative lifestyle.I'm all for that, but try to write a script in the process.

1-0 out of 5 stars Emptiness + vacuum = totally boring
I gave this show a try. I was fidgeting with boredom after the first 20 minutes of the pilot. I "browsed" through the 2nd episode and gave up. Detestable characters, average acting, showbiz "cool" moronity... On the whole, a major disappointment. HBO has made so many other enjoyable series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent in every way...
Funny, entertaining & would recommend to anyone who like a good laugh!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too perfect
Robin Williams can do anything and everything well. In this film, his aging homosexual role is understated. He's got the walk, the wrist, the clothes...he is the perfect stereotype of the older gay male. He's as funny as ever.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny remake
(4.5/5 stars)Excellent cast and inspired writing make this remake of the classic French comedy, "La Cage aux folles," a terrific movie. Nathan Lane is perfect as Albert Goldman, a cross-dressing cabaret performer with a flair for the dramatic. His husband, Armand Goldman (or is it Coleman?), is played with understated brilliance by Robin Williams. When Armand's son, Val, wants to bring home his girlfriend, Barbara(Calista Flockhart), a situation comedy ensues. Also wonderfully cast are Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest as Barbara's parents and Hank Azaria as Agador the housekeeper in a performance that is not to be missed. This is one of the funniest films I have seen and I recommend it highly to adults. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Sorry.
Nothing against the movie itself but I really didn't like the actress who played Viola.Just not believable to me.I liked the play I saw in college better.

3-0 out of 5 stars Words, words, words!I want to hear every one!
I have no reservations about the performances or the cinematography; only about the audio engineering: in Shakespeare where every word is cherished they must all be clearly audible, but this DVD is the only application where I have ever had to use full volume on my TV set, and that was still barely enough, and that is why I have deducted two stars! 3-0 out of 5 stars Star Trek TOS season three reviewed by Chroesus
Star Trek TOS season three is not the best of the three seasons and is a bit uneven in the quality of the episodes. It has it's highs and it's
5-0 out of 5 stars Cool series
An epic sci-fi phenomenon began in 1966 when the first season of "Star Trek" began to broadcast on U.S. televisions. Created by the legendary writer Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991), the series was intended to run for five years detailing the missions of the mammoth starship known as the U.S.S. Enterprise, which was only one of several starships that were part of the United Federation of Planets' Starfleet. Unfortunately, the series was prematurely cancelled after only three complete seasons in spite of efforts of Gene Roddenberry, letter-writing campaigns conducted by fans to keep the show alive and 5 Emmy Award nominations. Ironically, it was only six weeks after the final third-season episode was broadcast (6/3/1969) that astronauts Neil Armstrong and 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first human beings to ever set foot on an extraterrestrial world, Earth's moon, on 7/20/1969. Then, instead of being forgotten after cancellation, in syndication, "Star Trek" began to rise in popularity in the early 1970's to such an extent that Paramount Pictures began toying with the idea of resurrecting the show. Instead, following the extremely successful 1977 sci-fi blockbuster film "Star Wars" (written and directed by George Lucas), Paramount Pictures did resurrect the show in the form of several big-screen films beginning in 1979. With a new generation being introduced to the fantastic universe created by Gene Roddenberry, more "Star Trek" television series were created. In total, there have been six "Star Trek" television series (5 live-action, 1 animated) and ten big-screen films; but all of them owe their thanks not only to Gene Roddenberry, but to the original "Star Trek" series cast and the many fans that kept the original show in syndication long after it was cancelled.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kirk out!!
When I was a kid, wearing my mail-order "Captain Kirk" command shirt of gold vellour, the words "Third Season Trek" were synonymous with "bad." To compare something with the Third Season meant invoking images of failure, disaster, and sudden, irrevocable decline. Some of the individual episodes of this season also became buzzwords for something that, for lack of a better description, just plain sucked. "Space hippies!"; "What have you done with Spock's brain!?"; "You half-black!"

Cary Grant's penultimate feature before retirement was thischeerful 1964 effort to overturn his career-long image of urbanesophistication. As the unshaven, messy misanthrope Walter Eckland, a WorldWar II-era beach bum who monitors Japanese air activity for the Australiannavy in exchange for booze, Grant makes a convincingly hard-bitten,hard-drinking antihero. Until, that is, a pretty French schoolmistress(Leslie Caron) and her seven little charges (all girls) survive a nearbyplane crash and invade Eckland's raunchy isolation. 1-0 out of 5 stars Quality of the DVD is not good.
I have loved this movie since I was a child. I own it VHS & was looking forward to having it on DVD. I am very disappointed in the the quality of this DVD. It looks like it skipped a few seconds on one sceen & the sound is only so-so in a couple of others. Even the DVD case it came in is cheesy and arrived broken.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grant is no quack actor! (recommended)
For years unappealing plot descriptions repelled me away from FATHER GOOSE. No matter how you describe the combination of drunkenness, WWII Japanese invasions, and French school maidens, it doesn't sound interesting. The movie title seems only to add insult to injury. Nothing about it reads like a Cary Grant movie. Nevertheless, since each prior Grant movie purchase has been a good investment in long-lasting entertainment I parted with ten bucks and hit the jackpot. Despite the odd descriptions FATHER GOOSE is, believe it or not, a romantic comedy!
5-0 out of 5 stars Father Goose
Cary Grant is wonderful in this. He and Leslie Caron work well together in this romantic comeody. Grant is not his usual charming self in this one, but you'll love him just the same. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good ole science fiction
This movie has it all humor, romance suspence& horror rolled into one. You wouldnt mind sitting with your grandchildren and watching this ! Absolutly no foul language . It actually stimulates the imagination. I watched it with my father when I was about 12years old. It scared the heck out of me at that time . It was the 50s generation. It's a great film!!

5-0 out of 5 stars "THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD" A SUSPENSFUL SCIENCE FICTION MASTERPIECE
PRODUCED BY HOWARD HAWKS, DIRECTED BY CHRISTIAN NYBY. THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD WAS PUT TOGETHER BEAUTIFULLY.THIS VERSION OF THE THING DID NOT FOLLOW JOHN H. CAMPBELLS NOVEL AS FAR AS THE MONSTER, WERE AS JOHN CARPENTERS 1982 VERSION OF THE THING DID WITH A MONSTER THAT TRANSFORMS INTO ITS HUMAN VICTIMS HIDING ITSELF.JOHN CARPENTERS 1982 VERSION OF THE THING IS A MASTERPIECE PERIOD.DIRECTOR CHRISTIAN NYBY DOES AN AWESOME JOB USING CHARLES LEDERERS SCREENPLAY WHICH PORTRAYS THE THING AS A ONE MONSTER WRECKING CREW. EXCELLENTLY ACTED, KENNETH TOBEY, ROBERT CORNTHWAITE, MARGARET SHERIDAN, DOUGLAS SPENCER AS REPORTER NED SCOTT AND JAMES ARNESS AS THE THING. THIS MOVIE SHOCKED AND SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME AS A CHILD DURING A SATURDAY NIGHT VIEWING ON PUBLIC TV IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK DURING THE MID 1970S. THE ONE INGREDIENT THIS MOVIE HAD THAT HAS STOOD WITH ME FOR THE MORE THAN 30 YEARS SINCE I FIRST SAW THE THING, WAS THE MUSIC BY MOVIE COMPOSER DIMITRI TIOMPKIN. THAT MUSIC IN MY OPINION MADE THE THING THE CLASSIC IT IS TODAY. THERE ARE MANY SCI-FI MOVIES WITH GREAT SCORES BUT TO ME DIMITRI TIOMPKINS MUSIC SCORE FROM THE THING IS THE GREATEST OF THEM ALL.IT IS EERIE AND CREEPY. I LIKE HOW THE MOVIE STARTS OFF WITH THE RKO LOGO AND THEN THE MUSIC STARTS AND BLENDS IN BEAUTIFULLY TO THE START OF THE BLIZZARD SCENE. PEOPLE HAVE KNOCKED THE THING FOR BEING DATED AND GOOD FOR ITS TIME, THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD IS A SCI-FI MASTERPIECE THAT HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND AS FAR AS DIMITRI TIOMPKINS MUSIC SCORE IT SHOULD BE IN THE CLASSICAL MUSIC HALL OF FAME. ENJOY THE THING FOR WHAT IT IS, GOOD SCARY, SUSPENSFUL SCI-FI FUN. IF ITS SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE DATED TO YOU, USE YOUR IMAGINATION, " AND KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES"!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Classic Movie
If you like Classic Sci-Fi, as I do, then you will love "The Thing from Another World".I had been searching for the movie for sometime to come-out on DVD and was very excited, when I finally discovered it in this format.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love is the same for all
Monsoon Wedding shows the similarities between the upper and lower caste. Every class has the ability to feel love and pain as well as joy and sorrow. These emotions are not unique to the poor or the rich. Nair uses Dubye's relationship with Alice and Auditi's relationship with her fiancé to bridge the economical and cultural gap and focuses on acts of human nature common to all. Indian culture often devalues and dehumanizes the poor caste seeing them as a commodity. The director skillfully intertwines the two love interests in such a way that the audience receives a holistic view of Indian society.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Wedding/Family Film
This movie is set in India and is about a family coming together for a wedding. Many of us could easily relate to issues brought up in the film like overspending on the wedding budget, dealing with family members who can't get along, young love, etc.there are also issues brought up that are fascinating to watch - it;s an arranged marriage, the bride is still in love with her ex-lover, and one of the major characters must deal with being molested.I love this movie. It has characters you can care about and topics that are relevant and accessible o the audience.Sometime, the English is a little difficult to understand, so pay close attention or use subtitles.I also find this is a "girl" movie.I've had a hard time truing to get men to sit thru it in its entirety.Probably because its about a wedding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prompt Delivery

I honestly believe this was the worst movie I have ever seen in all my life...
4-0 out of 5 stars wonderful
I missed the first hour of this movie and still enjoyed it. I was pleasently surprised at how well this movie was. The acting was wonderful and I can't believe I enjoyed a film with Jude Law in it. I don't like him, also I do not care for Julia Roberts but I got in to the movie immediately. I love Clive Owen and I despise his character. I despise everyone in this film yet I loved it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Movie With A Heart
I Am Sam is superb to the core.Excellent performances across the board, and an emotionally involving story.Sean Penn is believable as someone who is mentally challenged. This is a veritable tour de force for him.But not to be upstaged is Dakota Fanning, who plays opposite of Penn and is named Lucy Diamond after the hit Beatles song.Sean Penn's character has to fight for custody of Lucy, and luckily he retains the services of a good lawyer, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, for free. She helps him as best she can and so do some mentally challenged friends and a caring neighbor. All in all, a very beautiful movie with plenty of heart and goodness. One of my favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars Do we get balloons?
I did cry during this film. There, I got it out there in the open so that it wouldn't hold me back as I talked about how great of a cinematic journey I Am Sam was.I remember when this film was released and how disgusted I was to hear that Sean Penn was taking the role of a mentally challenged individual because I am under the utter beliefs that if you want realism in your film, just hire someone who faces it daily.I didn't see the point of getting Sean Penn to over dramatize it.I am here to say that I was wrong. For once, I think Sean Penn was the perfect choice for this film.Yet, it wasn't just Penn that made this film worth more than one viewing.I believe that director Jessie Nelson realized that she had a cliché Hollywood story on her hands, in fact just another retelling of Kramer vs. Kramer (which is referenced throughout the film), and needed to do something to set it apart from the rest. Her answer, Beatles songs, imaginative cinematography, and gathering the best of the best to tackle her main characters. While Michelle Pfeiffer seemed to be an odd fit, the rest fell into place beautifully.Let me say this now, Dakota Fanning will win Oscars (more than one) during her film career.Needless to say, this was a much better film that initially represented.I Am Sam is one of those movies that we assume will be just like every other Hollywood outing, but until you open the box, put the DVD into your player, and experience the music, the visuals, as well as the phenomenal acting; you will never quite understand why I Am Sam carried above the Hollywood standard.
4-0 out of 5 stars A really good choice...
Not to far back I made a statement that I felt Sean Penn's performance in this film made him appear desperate. After watching this film yet again I have to reconsider my approach for it's less desperate and more over-enthusiastic.Who can blame an actor whose well loved and adored by fans as well as the academy for going a little overboard when given the opportunity to chomp on some real Oscar bait. The only problem here is that Sean goes a little too far over the top and it just gets to be too much (ONLY at times...I don't want to leave the impression that the entire film is full of overacting...it's not!)

3-0 out of 5 stars Face It-Ben Is Nothing More Than A Spoiled Egotist
Yes, the film is a "classic".That doesn't mean that it is perfect.Far from it.The "classic" aspects of it are (1) Simon and Garfunkle (I found out that "Sounds of Silence was NOT written specially for the movie, but pre-dates it to 1966), (2)"Ben - I have just one word for you - PLASTICS" , (3) Buck Henry saying "Sir, are you here for an affair?" (4) "That sounds a little half-baked"---"No it is fully baked" (5) and other quotes that I can't recall at the moment.
3-0 out of 5 stars Mrs. Robinson, I Can't Do This.
The Graduate is Mike Nichols' 1967 "classic". At the time of its release, the picture was cited as something of a commentary for the decade as well as a brilliant social satire. Time, more or less has not been that kind to it. Despite the fact that it collected seven Academy Award nominations, winning "Best Director" for Nichols, it appears that the reversed Lolita tale was slightly misunderstood for more than it really is. It's honestly an insult to the 60s, giving The Graduate credit as a social commentary. The only topic it slightly brushes over is the sexual revolution, but even that is so inadequately built upon. Most of the characters are quite thinly developed and frequently loathsome, that they hardly warrant all the support the filmmakers expect us to throw out. Even some of the picture's most fascinating characters are given little or no screen time.
3-0 out of 5 stars this movie might be shockingly good at that time, but
not too good in the 21st century when you re-watch it again. very bad screenplay and poorly directed actually. the ending just opened a door to the modern copycat version of 'the runaway bride', a more terrible terrible disastrous movie. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining
This is one of the more entertaining films in its genre. The teaming of Johnny Depp and Al Pacino was a brilliant stroke, and both deliver outstanding performances.Michael Madsen also gives a noteworthy performance as Sonny Black, the capo who very nearly inducted Pistone into the Bonnano crime family. Those who have read the book will notice that there are quite a few factual errors, but the film is nonetheless entertaining, and well worth buying for repeat viewing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fugetaboutit
If you like Mob stories and you like New York you can't afford to miss this. Aside from the Godfather series this may be the best Mafia movie ever made. Nobody but Al Pacino could have done Lefty justice and Johnny Depp is fabulous.

    Editorial Review

Melanie Griffith had a fling with stardom in this Mike Nichols comedy about an executive secretary (Griffith) who can't get her deserved shot at upward mobility in the brokerage industry. Hardly taken seriously by male bosses, things aren't really any better for her once she starts working for a female exec (Sigourney Weaver, never more delightful), a narcissist with a boy-toy banker (Harrison Ford) and a tendency to steal the best ideas from her underlings. When Weaver's character is laid up with a broken leg, Griffith poses as a replacement wheeler-dealer, flirting with Ford and working on a new client who doesn't suspect the deception. Nichols brings a lot of snap and sass to Kevin Wade's smart script about chafing against class restrictions and perceptions. Sundry scenes are played quite charmingly, especially those of Griffith and Ford's mutual pickup in a bar and Joan Cusack's championing of Griffith's crusade. Nominated for Best Picture, Director, Actress (Griffith), and two Supporting Actress awards (Weaver, Cusack); Carly Simon's song "Let the River Run" won the Oscar. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good fun, if you don't moralize about it...
Melanie is great to look at, and easy to root for, in this cutthroat business competition story. Harrison Ford takes a rare third place in importance, because Sigourney Weaver, as the villain, steals every scene she is in, and really makes the movie successful. Essentially a comedy, this one makes you think about ethics in the workplace, and it isn't just Sigourney who cuts corners in that realm. Many similar plot lines have been filmed, but few have succeeded as much as this one. Repeat screenings are still fun, and that's a rare compliment for me.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a movie!
Melanie was just PERFECT in this! And Joan Cusack! So good, so funny, so perfectly cast!"5000 dolluhs??And it's not even leather!"I just love this movie so much. And Harrison! What a super-hottie!But more than anything what makes this story work is the mix of plot AND character. It is just so real, so easy to picture actually playing out in life; all the painful trials and tribulations -- then the hard fought for success!Still a lot of fun!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Gratuitous nudity, foul language & vulgarities
For a general review of this fun movie please read other excellent reviews.I would love to own the DVD.But where can I purchase a cut version?I prefer NOT to watch Alec Baldwin "bopping" Doreen. Or Kevin Spacey attempting "seduction??" by showing a porn film to Griffith.Nor listen to Griffith remind herself not to F--- Up repeatedly.Classy lady with foul mouth moves up the corporate ladder.Nichols attempt to seek a R rating is just plain stupid. This otherwise wonderful film is ruined by this mess.To enjoy Working Girl at its best I will watch the TV version. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Angels in America
This was a hugely disappointing film. I did not see it on stage nor do I want to if it is ever resurrected. It trivializes illness, death, God, heaven, range of human emotion and love in all forms. I have grown up in a post-AIDS world and can see so many problems far worse than AIDS.I am tired of listening to actors drone on in selfish pursuits. While America focuses on such banal subject matter, larger more urgent problems are clearly ignored by a society that thinks it has the luxury of still trying to come to grips with sexuality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Performances
What stands out most in Mike Nichols' production of Angels in America in the performaces. Al Pacino takes the cake in this respect in his usual fiery intelligent way. No one else really talked about Belize played by Jeffrey Wright whose going between three principal characters requires a great deal of role changes as well as skill (not to mention his amusing depiction of Mr. Lies). Watch his description of Heaven to Al Pacino's character very carefully, the calculated intelligence mixed with loathing spite. I think Justin Kirk goes a little too over the top at times but his scenes with Meryl Streep are great to watch. The production only falls short with Mary Louise Parker's character. She reads her lines indifferently and is altogether annoying. I wanted a little more passion and bite from her. Another disappointment is the sort of forced ending. Each character is forced to talk directly to the camera and it gets a bit too preachy and self concious of a movie/play. But the fully realized characters are what you should come to see.

5-0 out of 5 stars Angels in America
Directed by Mike Nichols, the screenplay of this film was adapted by Tony Kutchner from his play. To say that it revolves around a gay man who is suffering with AIDS, while true, does not give a fair idea of its content. The man does indeed encouter an angel, played by Emma Thompson. Also in the drama is Roy Cohn, himself dying of AIDS, and haunted by hallucinations in which Emma Rosenberg, the "convicted atomic spy", appears to him. The cast of this imaginative drama includes Emma Thompson, Meryl Streep, Jeffery Wright, and Al Pacino playing Roy Cohn. Each of these actors plays multiple roles. The entire cast is outstanding. The film treats Kutchner's play with great flair and visual imagination. It is a quite gripping and believable work of imagination, in a style that might perhaps be best described as "magical realism"; and it is very well realized. In two parts, it is well worth the four hours or so spent watching it. ... Read more

This is one of the greatest, most passionate and tragic love stories out there. Cinematography off the chain, wardrobe impeccable, the female & male leads--classic!!! Sarita is in M. Night's new movie and the king is now on Lost and still devilishly cute!!! Don't get fooled by the title, this is a great "foreign" film....

4-0 out of 5 stars Exotic Film
Mira Nair's exotic film Kama Sutra will transport you into a faraway world of adventure and enchantment.Shot in English with an all-Indian cast, this drama of one woman's spiritual journey is set in the 16th century. Maya (Indira Varma), a servant girl, grows up as a friend of princess Tara (Sarita Choudhury), who is to marry the prince (Naveen Andrews). But the night of the wedding, Maya betrays her friend and seduces him.Banished from court, she finds refuge with Rasa Devi (Rekha) who teaches the "Kama Sutra," a manual of lessons in love. This wise woman believes that sexuality can be a wellspring of spiritual unfolding. She teaches Maya about intimacy, pleasure, play, and self-empowerment.With her new knowledge, she becomes a courtesan at court. Maya finds love with a sculptor (Ramon Tikaram) who risks his life to be with her. Eventually, the heroine reconciles with Tara. Mira Nair's Kama Sutra celebrates women's sexuality as a healing and liberating force. The film was shot at Amber and Khajuraho, a village known for its erotic temples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I watched this gem of a film by accident, then watched it three more times. I can't get it out of my thoughts now. I was scrolling for a film to watch and what caught my attention was the fact that the three young girls that portray the Aboriginal half-casts had no acting experience and very little coaching. I was amazed that while straining to read the lines regarding the outcome at the end of the film, I had tears in my eyes. And the second time, and the third ...I am somewhat ashamed to say that I had no idea of this chapter in Australian history. The parallels to American "Indian Schools" make this film a must-see for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
Rabbitproof Fence is based on a true story of three young Aboriginal girls who ran away from a government relocation program in 1930's Australia."Half-caste" (half-white) Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their parents by the government, placed in schools that taught the white way of life, and placed with white families. Many children never saw their parents again.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing and touching
I didn't know much about Australia and until this movie I only ever saw Starlight Hotel which I own and love!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of My Top Five Essential Christmas Movies
This musical rendition of "A Christmas Carol" has gripped my heart and mind since I was probably five years old. With the exception of USA's version starring Patrick Stewart (which is completely brilliant, by the way), every film version of this story I've seen is a relative dud, its stars paying only archetypal lip service to the characters, with those playing Scrooge the worst offenders of all.Albert Finney gives full measure to the psychological makeup of the old miser, who is after all just the final piece in a life-long puzzle of a man.In addition, nowhere will you find a version with such a stunning supply of visual detail, right down to the dirt encrusted in Scrooge's fingernails. It's a visual feast, a musical treasure and a film experience that encompasses comedy, romance, drama and terror in full measures.Scrooge's transformation is so complete that the man fairly explodes, and I defy you not to do the same as the raucous finale pours from your set!

5-0 out of 5 stars You. You were good for me...
My favorite of all the "Christmas Carols," with some wonderful embellishing touches that are crushingly heartbreaking, bittersweet, and terribly, terribly funny. A unique technique on the musical aspect, the songs do not bog down the story, as the whole conniption fit of a movie is swept along by the music. This version is comedic, probably the funniest of all versions, and then again it has the most touching magics. Who hasn't obsessed on a moment that you can go back to, and view, if not change -- a brief moment that changed your whole life. Scrooge is there, and we feel it, in our heart, deeply, as he shrieks at his younger self: "Say something! You FOOL!" only to see the love of his life disappear. Albert Finney is such an incredible talent that we are pained for him, but as we know, "these are but shadows of the past." It's a wonderful, wonderful transition, slow and sweet, from mean and grouchy miser, to precious old guardian angel, we get to see it happen, bit by bit. Also, I think the sweetest Tiny Tim, with a beautiful voice. Another heartfelt moment, panning through the graves and hearing a ghostly Tiny Tim trill his sweet song, to see Bob Cratchit kneeling by his son's new grave. There are so many breathtaking, magical moments like this. I think I saw this movie when I was about 12 or 13 years old, and its probably one of the key reasons I'm as messed up as I am! Not only is this my favorite Christmas movie, but one of my most favorite movies, as well, right up there with "Somewhere in Time" and "Amadeus."

5-0 out of 5 stars My personal Christmas favorite.
Well...it's a movie boarderline on a flat out musical based on Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Back to gritty vampire movies
Great movie. I love vampire movies in general, but this was a good return to the grittier movie.Plus, who wouldn't like to see Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff battle it out? This is by far the best movie in the trilogy, but they're all good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Comic to Movie Adaptation, ever!
Blade is a five star movie. It could be argued to be the best comic-book to movie adaptation of any movie ever made.Personally, this reviewer thinks it's Wesley Snipe's best movie role and will define him through the next few years.Blade is such a good movie that it had two sequels and will have a mini-series spun off from it.That gives great testimony to the strong script and Snipe's role in this picture.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Keep Your Eyes Open, They're Everywhere"
When it comes to action/adventure and comic book style superheroes 'Blade' is one of the classics of the genre. Wesley Snipes is perfect as the anti-hero Blade. Half human, half vampire he is known as Daywalker. Blade possesses all the strengths and none of the weaknesses of other vampires. The rays of the sun have no effect on him, thus the name "Daywalker" and garlic and silver do not destroy him as they do other vampires. Protector of the human race, he is the most feared enemy of the Vampire Nation.

Velvety and glazed like a fattening pastry, this 1954 love story concerns three American women who make wishes for love in Rome, and end up having three romances. The cast is fine, but as for the film, what you see is what you get. Adapted by playwright John Patrick from a novel by famed... More globetrotter/filmmaker John H. Secondari, Three Coins in the Fountain offers the splendors of Rome in Technicolor, CinemaScope and Stereophonic Sounds. For all its lovely picture-postcard images, the film is at base a reworking of 20th Century-Fox' favorite plotline: three pretty girls on the prowl for husbands. The three lovelies, who toss their coins in the Trevi fountain and wish for romance, include Dorothy McGuire, Jean Peters and Maggie McNamara. Before the film is over, McGuire has won over her icy employer Clifton Webb; Peters has "tamed" roving-eyed Rossano Brazzi; and McNamara finds happiness with prince Louis Jourdan. Three Coins in the Fountain won two Academy Awards: "Best Color Cinematography" (Milton Krasner), and "Best Song" (written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen, and sung in the pre-credits sequence by an uncredited Frank Sinatra). The film was remade in 1965 as The Pleasure Seekers, and also served as the basis for a never-sold TV pilot starring Yvonne Craig, Cynthia Pepper and Joanna Moore. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide...

THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN is one of the more delightful romantic comedy confections from the `Golden Era' of Hollyood.Spawning the hit single from Frank Sinatra and based on the book by John H. Secondari, the film is filled with fabulous performances and of course the highly-cinematic visuals of Rome at the height of summer.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Only "Logical"
If you've seen Star Trek II then you know, as Spock would say, "Logical" for a sequel to follow. This one ties up the loose ends and answers any questions or speculations one had at the end of The Wrath of Khan. Leonard Nimoy behind the camera this time, we follow a skeleton crew on the Enterpise in search of the friend who sacrificed his life to save theirs. Information concerning the Genesis project has fallen into the wrong hands; Klingons. Christopher Lloyd is excellent in the role of the Klingon commander. A battle ensues, and as usual, Kirk resorts to unconventional matters to save the day.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Search Is On...
When the superb sequel "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan" ended with Spock dying and his casket being sent down to the newly made 'Genesis Planet' many fans wondered is this the end for the beloved Vulcan or was the final moment showing the casket on the planet merely a teaser of things to come.Well, as it turns out it was merely a teaser for things to come, but that wasn't known for a little while after the movie was released which proved to be a brilliant marketing strategy by Paramount, keeping the resurrection of Spock under wraps until the third film was essentially finished and the trailer was released. So once the trailer was released fans could hardly wait to see the next installment in this blossoming franchise, in hopes that their perished hero would rise from the dead to rejoin Captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise crew. And believe me the wait was definitely worth it, as this latest movie did an excellent job of building on top of what was started in the second film.
