This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun filled witchy romp!
I have loved this movie ever since my mom took me to see it in the theater when I was 6 years old. Ever since (even after I was allowed to watch actual scary halloween movies) this has been my very favorite movie to put in the DVD player, pop some popcorn and have fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finding Nemo is a great "catch" for the whole family
Pixar Studios have done it again. I have to say that these guys are totally good in computer animation, as well as in storytelling. Rarely do those qualities come together but here they are, delivering unto the audience once again something that one can only be drowned with wonder. Such is the marvel of Finding Nemo.
5-0 out of 5 stars A really great movie!!!
I really loved this movie. I have watched it over and over again. I have never gotten sick of it. It makes me laugh and cry all in the same DVD. This movie is a must for all kids and adult kids too. Ellen's role is just great!!! It fits her to a tee. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Tale As Old As Time Done Right
Beauty and the Beast may well be the very best animated film Disney ever produced. The characterizations of the leads are great as we have the sweet book loving Belle and the the flawed but totally redeemable "Beast".Gaston and Belle's father are also well drawn and memorable as are the comic relief bearing "enchanted" servants at the castle. There's something for everyone as the story is so romantic it leaves a lot of grown up ladies sighing, the bad guys are not too scary for the little ones and for the rest it is just a great tale.Plus Beauty and the Beast has some of the best songs ever written for a Disney production. No wonder the Broadway musical hasbeen such a hit as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tied for first for best Disney feature
I must've been about 10 when I first saw the Lion King and I was practically floored. Those catchy-for-their-own-good songs, the animation(well, me now talking) and that wildebeast stampede. The other one is Beauty and the Beast which for the life of me I can't remember seeing when I was young yet loved every minute of it. Revisiting it now I still love it and on one hand seeing it as a landmark in Disney's catalogue but also one in a series of films that marked a brief creative comeback.
2-0 out of 5 stars Beauty and the Beast
Yep, Disney animation. All my students see this movie at some point between leaving high school and when I meet them as university students. Sometimes, their Chinese university teachers show it to them in class. So, I thought I'd see why they love it so much. I'm still wondering. This is a two-page short story, not a film. But on the bright side, if you skip all the songs it's under an hour. I've never enjoyed a singing toon in my life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Could well be the best DVD on the market
Given that the movie is wonderful, perhaps the last of the great Hollywood musicals and a charmer for all generations, this DVD is still remarkably wonderful. Disney has done a clean-up job on the film that makes it shine. The audio is rich and wonderful, including the all-important ORIGINAL stereo soundtrack (feh to multi-channel remixes!). The special features even manage to elucidate the process of filmmaking in manner intriguing to both the cineaste parent and Mary-mad children.
5-0 out of 5 stars thank you, Julie and Dick (and Walt, of course)!
I think I like this movie more now than when I was a kid! And the extra features on this 2-DVD set are absolutely wonderful. Great interviews with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, one of the Sherman brothers (songwriter), and the girl who played Jane that really show how special the movie-making process was, which then translated to joy on the screen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful story and lovely music
Mary Poppins must be one of the loveliest filming produced by Disney studios. This musical movie is extremely well produced and has outstanding actor work. The scenes are of high quality despite the whole story was filmed indoors. Even the little part of London was reproduced in Disney studio. The music from Sherman brothers is world famous and well known. When you hear the first tunes, you might say: Hey I've heard that somewhere! Having this DVD on your shelf would please both you and your younger fellows. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Skywalking....
Oh, Anakin, Anakin...How I love thee, let me count the ways.....
5-0 out of 5 stars Will people ever stop complaining? As Vader would now say..."NOOOoooooOOOOoooo".
Let's get something straight- I am a Star Wars geek. For a few years, I practically lived for the series. When Episode I came around, my heart broke, and I became a more casual fan, but with tons of knowledge that the typical sane person shouldn't know about the characters and worlds. Like millions of others, Episodes I and II disappointed me beyond anything. George Lucas should've let someone else do the writing, and could've used a tad less CG in favor of real things. In fact, in my own little world, I like to believe that there were never prequels to Episodes IV, V and VI. Episode III here was supposed to be THE Star Wars to end all Star Warses (forgive that ridiculous just-made-up-word there). I saw it in theaters, and loved it. It was what Episodes I and II should've been. But upon a second viewing, not so much. Originally, I gave Episode III 4.5 stars. Now, it's more like just barely 3. That's not to say that casual fans won't enjoy it- they'll probably get more out of this one than the past two. I think a lot of it has to do with the hype of it being the final movie being gone now. The saga is complete. Everything's all here to be watched in full. And just as the original trilogy, there are some parts that you notice not being as great as they were that first time you saw them.
1-0 out of 5 stars A failure in narrative, just like the rest of the prequel trilogy.
Well, here we are, the big one, the one that was supposed to blow them all away, the one that was supposed to be the meat and potatoes of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the big downfall that turned Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) into Darth Vader. The final result is a bit... underwhelming.

DONT listen to that silly man " a viewer" He doesnt know a thing. You can watch this extrodinary film on DVD and reap the hearty rewards of laughter and happiness. Or you can watch a VHS and dial up the internet while you toast your snax on a fire. In other words....The dvd is far better then any old VHS. This DVD is the best. Just believe me. You will thank me later. And see Spamalot too.

4-0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air.
With all the deadly serious movies about the grail out there these days it's good to once again watch a movie that treats the subject with a sense of humor.
    5-0 out of 5 stars A Newt?
One of my favorite comedies, and Monty Python's best and most irreverent movie is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The Monty Python troop made three films and had a television series that challenged the status quo by dealing with religion, class welfare, politics and dead parrots. There humor seems as fresh and rebellious today as when it was aired. Sometimes their humor was forced -- some scenes in The Meaning of Lif(e) ; however, Monty Python and the Holy Grail has the perfect mix of antitoletarism, irreverence and silly sots.

    Editorial Review

Not an ideal choice for younger kids, this hip and violent animated feature from Disney was nevertheless a huge smash in theaters and on video, and it continues to enjoy life in an acclaimed Broadway production. The story finds a lion cub, son of a king, sent into exile after his father is sabotaged by a rivalrous uncle. The little hero finds his way into the "circle of life" with some new friends and eventually comes back to reclaim his proper place. Characters are very strong, vocal performances by the likes of Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane, and Whoopi Goldberg are terrific, the jokes are aimed as much (if not more) at adults than kids, the animation is sometimes breathtaking, and the music is more palatable than in many Disney features. But be cautious: this is too intense for the

4-0 out of 5 stars Monarchies tend to create dysfunctional families.
Disney's "The Lion King" is a pretty good movie about a young lion cub, named Simba, who is to become king of a place called Pride Rock located in the appropriately named Pride Lands. I always thought that the part where Simba's father, Mufasa, is killed by his brother, Scar, was kind of tough to watch. On the other hand, from a historical standpoint, scenarios like these were at some point a commoplace reality, all because of an intense desire for power. The most memorable part of the film is the scene where Scar turns on the hyenas, to whom he'd referred as the "real enemy," then tries to make up with them right afterwards by calling them his "friends." The best part was the subsequent reaction by the hyenas to his double crossing.
5-0 out of 5 stars il'd love to give this 20 out of 5 stars
this movie was incredable. i don't understand how people can dislike this film. this movie's deep and intense story made it great for children AND their parents, a feat rarely accomplished. but rather than stay depressing and traumatizing, this film goes from drama to side-splitting humor within 13 seconds. the best part is that this is all done with seemless perfection.
1-0 out of 5 stars dont mess with classics
I give the original 5 stars, but why is disney taking all its classics and adding new songs to it? i was so dissapointed when i rented this and there were new scenes in it. i dont want "new and improved" i want the original, the one i watched when i was younger. ... Read more

Emma Thompson scores a double bull's-eye with this marvelous adaptation of Jane Austen's novel. Not only does Thompson turn in a strong (and gently humorous) performance as one of the Dashwood sisters--the one with "sense"--she also wrote the witty, wise screenplay. Austen's tale of 19th-century manners and morals provides a large cast with a feast of possibilities, notably Kate Winslet, in her pre-Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful peice of classic cinema
    What a wonderful movie!
5-0 out of 5 stars Sense and Sensibility
Jane Austen was so wonderful at creating reality on the printed page. She sent up society by spot-on accurate portrayals of it. I feel like stressing this point. It sends up pretension by accurately portraying it. It is humour and realism at the same time. I can think of nobody better at doing this.
5-0 out of 5 stars A fine adaptation that will please most viewers, sans Grant
This film looks beautiful with that particular fresh and green loveliness that typifies the gentlefolk's 18th / 19th century England. It's a delight to watch, and the screenplay itself is wonderfully done, combining the sensible and likeable characters with the truly absurd characters, not to mention those whose characters are morally enfeebled. Jane Austen's depiction of human frailty as well as goodness has always impressed me as being true and very apt, striking home not merely with insightful viewing of human beings but also the very particular aspects that define a person of English gentility in the 1800s.

Having seen 'Resevoir Dogs' and liking it very much, I was really impressed with Tarantino's follow-up of "Pulp Fiction."One of the things I really liked about this film, to name just one, was the different offbeat characters that Tarantino put into the film. From John Travolta, [as Vinny the nutcase with a penchant for killing] to Samuel L. Jackson, as Travolta's stone cold killer partner; these two characters alone made the film terrific.

Yes!! "Fist Pump", no more crappy movies, if only he had stopped making them after Return of the Jedi.
1-0 out of 5 stars Why does Obi-Wan Kenobi look like Jesus Christ?
Picking up 10 years later, Anakin Skywalker is no longer an adorable if stoic little kid but now a tall, gangly, jerky young man (Hayden Christensen) with a tendency to whine and bitch about stuff for no apparent reason (takes things way too personally he does). Well, him and his master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) are assigned to protect former queen turned senator Padme (Natalie Portman) after ten years apart from an assassin. This job eventually leads to Obi-Wan being separated from Anakin while he investigates the assassin who happens to be involved with a cloning conspiracy and this later leads him to a renegade Jedi master played by Christopher Lee. Guess what? Anakin still has the hots for Padme and whilst Obi-Wan is away Anakin would like nothing better than to strip her naked and get her in the sack. The future Darth Vader also has a nightmare about his mom's death back on Tatioone and he FINALLY goes to rescue her but by the time he gets there she's already dead so he goes and kills the cannibal Sand People who killed her.

5-0 out of 5 stars What's better than a hot guy getting revenge?
When I first saw this movie, I was surfing the limited channels on our television a week or so ahead of the time they would actually come on so that I could catch any that sounded promising. This was one of those. The description sounded good and a few of the actors' names sounded familiar, although I had never seen any of their movies to date.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a Fantastic Masterpiece!
I can say that I am truly impressed by this motion picture! It grabbed me and didn't let go till the absolute end of the film. What an adrealine rush this movie is! Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is what the movies are all about!

I just watched "The Count of Monte Cristo" the other night and really enjoyed it (and may I say, Jim Caviezel has the most stunning eyes!). It has the adventure, romance, suspense, betrayal, and revenge that keeps anyone glued to their TV screen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Interpretation of Irving's Tale
Ahh - the perfect Halloween film!Better than many of the old classics. This is Tim Burton at his best.As a child, I loved the gothic tale of the Headless Horseman - and this rendition never fails to ring the bell.Johnny Depp is well cast as the somewhat nervous, eccentric, but always ernest Ichabod Crane.Christina Ricci is beautiful and Christopher Walken is perfect as the Horseman. While the film is gory - after all there are lots of heads being lopped off - it's not really scary.I wouldn't recommend it for children under the age of 12 however - especially those with overactive imaginations. The old animated Disney version is better suited for the little ones.
5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining... a real Halloween delight !
"Sleepy Hollow" Has just the right amount of everything to make it quite a memorable movie. The atmosphere that Sleepy Hollow portrays makes this movie
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Spooky Flick for the Fall Season!
Let me state right off that, although I respect Burton as a great filmmaker, I'm not a fan of his films; they usually strike me as eminent examples of style over substance (which, in a sense, isn't his fault since he's not usually the writer). Plus the films he usually picks to direct simply aren't my cup of java (for instance, I have no plans to catch "Edward Scissorhands" anytime soon). But who can deny his great visual talants? This guy knows how to make a film LOOK good, that's for sure.

Is this a movie about hocus-pocus black-magic? How about Voodoo superstition? Pagan beliefs perhaps?
5-0 out of 5 stars one of the most complete movies I have ever seen...
The best adaptation of a Stephen King novel to date. Hollywood allowed this film to develope the various characters unlike most King adaptations.. There is a smoothness of this film, and a sadness as it nears its inevitable end, which holds the attention and completely disregards the 3+ hour length. Any who have seen it, will always remember it. Myself, I try to see the uplifting side, the hope the final monologue touts, but every time I watch this film, I feel the horrible sadness created by people wronging others with malice and hate. Something that does not belong in this world, but something this movie embraces.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Green Mile
Stellar performances from all of the cast. The story is compelling, and you really get to fall in love with Coffey, played by Michael Clarke Duncan, who is accused of a horror of a charge that he did not commit. This is one of those movies that may test your threshold for crying.Be sure to have some kleenex handy.Five stars for this fine title. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Quite different from Volume 1 but also astonishing
The second part of Tarantino's martial arts epic is quite different from the first in many aspects. It begins with more revelations about what happened to the massacre at the small chapel and goes on with the revenge taken by the "bride". This time though the bad people have some nasty surprises for the heroine who faces the most desperating situation that you can imagine. I really enjoyed the flash-back to the heroine's training as a student of a cruel but wise Chinese master of martial arts and the fight with the one-eyed opponent had a very deserving and surprising finale. Bill has also some aces up in his sleeve but not the ultimate one which the "bride" applies in the end. A powerful and more philosophical film than Part One. The end is a triumph of love, as simple feelings of the kind that ordinary people experience, overcome and transform the highly trained killer.

Ok,ill just inform yall on something but first for anyone whos seen the first and not the second well just so you dont have to wait any longer her name is Biatrix Kiddo,oh and just so you know i lied im not actually gonna give all the secrets i just told you what her name was so you diddnt freak your serlves out about it,anyways this one to me was some what better than the first(which was fantastic)when i saw the second kill bill movie at first i wasnt so sure if she was gonna have it in her to kill you-know-who and even though uma therman isnt so pretty shes an extraordinary actress i always loves how she got in to her character.well i dont wanna give to to much away well i think youll like this one a little bit better than the first
5-0 out of 5 stars Tragic Love Story
Despite all the violence, at its core, Kill Bill 2 is a love story. The Bride, played by Uma Thurman, is physically tortured during certain scenes in this movie. However, the emotional distress she experiences concerning her feelings for Bill is extraordinary. It is obvious she is deeply conflicted and confused. It is also apparent that The Bride and Bill share a deep bond despite attempts to kill each other. This is especially evident during her the last scene involving The Bride and Bill. This movie comes highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun and Excitement
THE INCREDIBLES is a first-class animated film about a superhero and his family who are forced to seek the anonymity of a government witness protection program to escape a rash of lawsuits orchestrated by their enemies. Mr. Incredible has to endure the boredom of a job as an insurance claims specialist while his wife and children cooperate by also concealing their extraordinary powers in front of others. This is hardest on the children as they play with youngsters at school and on the athletic field. Eventually, Mr. Incredible is lured out of retirement on a ruse by a former foe. By now Mr. Incredible is older and fatter but he still proves equal to the challenge. The rest of the movie is filled with excitement and comical moments as Mr. Incredible finds himself in a tight spot from which only his family can rescue him. The cast is headed by Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter. Ms. Hunter supplies the voice for Elastigirl who is also the wife of Mr. Incredible.
2-0 out of 5 stars Fails to Meet the Standards
I would like to start by saying I grew up with animated moves and computer animated movies. Toy Story and Shrek were among my favorite movies when I was young, but I strongly feel that The Incredibles fails to live up that expectation.
2-0 out of 5 stars The Incredibles
If you saw this, imagine it without the music. It'd lose a lot. We have a cartoon family of superheroes doing what superheroes do. Damn impressive cartoon technology, but so what? They're never going to be as convincing as human actors. So what do we do with this technology? Move it to the fringes where acting isn't so important, like talking animals, science fiction, fantasy, superhero stuff. TERMINATOR II was an awesome use of the technology, but what else is it good for? This movie is good if you're too exhausted to do anything constructive, like thinking, but I doubt any adult will sit through it twice. ... Read more

Three days in the summer of 1863, at a place called Gettysburg. Although it received a theatrical release, this four-hour depiction of the bloody Civil War battle was shot as a made-for-television film. 4-0 out of 5 stars No Doubt It's Great
There is no questioning this film is done very well. That said, it should be pointed out that it may not be for everyone. If you are not a fan of cliches, stay away from this. There are TONS of monologues that go on for long periods of time with epic music in the background, and maybe not everyone can handle that. Most of the performances are incredible, my favorite happens to be Jeff Daniels. One performance that doesn't do it for me is Martin Sheen. He shares a lot of scenes with Tom Berenger and it seems like Berenger is the one keeping those scenes afloat. C. Thomas Howell has a steady part but you won't recognize him as the kid from the Outsiders. Great battle scenes, especially the big one in the open field at the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars We do what we must do.
After the heart-rending nobility of Abraham Lincoln's verbal tribute to Gettysburg's fallen, there is not much else that could do those men justice.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Before I give my review I would like to say that everyone who says that Martin Sheen is a bad R.E Lee, or that the movie is inaccurate, or that the movie is too accurate and gives to many stupid details, or that the movie moves to slowly, is a dumb idiot who cares more about hollywood depictions of the Civil War than true depictions. The movie is positivly lovely to watch.

There is a thinly, thinly, thinly veiled attempt at creating a plot and at acting in this fairly dirty blue movie. Kara (Venesa Talor) is sent to experience bodily pleasure by her alien species, which leads to numerous unconnected, plot-irrelevant encounters with all kinds of buxom babes and buff guys. The pool, the massage parlor, the avant-garde theater--these kooky humans seem to be going at it everywhere! Kara must believe that she's landed not on Earth, but the planet Silicone, but she never seems to kvetch about it. On the plus side the actors are attractive and keep their wooden deliveries at a minimum to allow full enjoyment of the wretched porno-quality soundtrack. Surprisingly, no mention of thanks to Lee Strasberg in the final credits. Plenty o' skin. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars "I belong here."
Nell Lance is not well. She has spent most of her adult life caring for her invalid mother and she is having difficulty coping now that mother has passed on. She sees her big opportunity to live a little when she is invited to the Hill House for a brief stay. This is her time to socialize, to break out of her cocoon and to prove to everyone else that she belongs in their group. Seems she has somehow gotten the wrong idea. The well known Dr. Markway (Richard Johnson) sees the recently vacated Hill House as an opportunity to prove the existence of ghosts, ghouls and/or goblins. He has invited Theo (the beautiful Claire Bloom) for her psychic ability and the skeptical Luke (Russ Tamblyn) for use of his inherited house. Nell was asked to come because of her propensity for communicating with the dead, a claim she vehemently denies. What the group finds at Hill House is worth investigating for viewers. Julie Harris is terrific as the disturbed Nell and the others turn in good performances as well. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a scary movie, but Robert Wise's direction makes this a fairly gripping movie. I am slightly surprised by its G rating, given the intense moments and a couple of swear words. This really should be PG. You can't really go wrong if you are looking for a good haunted house movie.

Wow...Based on the reviews I thought this would be a good movie, perhaps a great movie. Folks it isn't. It's like taking a trip to the dump, garbage in every direction. Unbelievably gross and repugnant human beings. Foul language abounds as do hateful people without morals or values.
