5-0 out of 5 stars Well done!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this new edition
I am thrilled to get this 10th Anniversary edition and the book that comes with it as I am a great fan of this particular version of Pride & Prejudice.Only one thing disappointed me however .... I don't care for the way the discs are stored in the set. They are slid inbetween a cardboard envelope and it took alot of skill for me to get them out without feeling like I was scratching them up against the cardboard.I much rather prefer when the discs are easily snapped into a case as I feel they are better protected. Other than that, this is truly worth purchasing,if not for the book & bonus disc alone, which do not come with the 2-dvd original version.Buy it ... you won't be sorry!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great and true adaptation of an amazing novel.
I saw this when it first came out on the BBC. (I lived in England)I have to say it is one of those dramas that I will watch and watch and watch again.I love the characters and I think that the casting is one of the best. Jane Austen of course must be given the credit of a great story. But I commend the adaptation and staying true to the book.I read the novel after watching the film and was amazed by how well it stuck to the story.I love the settings and the views but I am an English country girl at heart so I would. But it is a true love story that can bring hope that we can all find our own Mr. Darcy. ... This gorgeous adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic children's story is well worth watching with the whole family. Produced for Canadian television, it's one of those rare productions that actually sticks to the book and even enhances it through first-rate performances and an excellent script. 5-0 out of 5 stars I love this movie today as much as I loved it when I was 10....
I saw this movie for the first time when I was something like 10 years old, and immediately fell in love with Anne Shirley. I have now read everything by L.M. Montgomery that I can get my hands on, and am as big a fan as ever. This movie is a beautiful version of a beautiful book.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Way things should be
"Anne of Green Gables" shows how a combination of love, honesty, hard work, tolerance and integrity is the perfect mix for bringing out the best from the potential in anyone, even in a non-traditional family. It's an incredibly refreshing break from today's society, where lying and manipulation have become almost a norm in much of the world we know.

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless Classic
All the great reviews written previously say it all - Anne of Green Gables the movie is a timeless classic of the classic novel. I've been watching this movie since I've been a child, and I still watch it as an adult. A movie like this doesn't need "special features" for it to be attractive as a DVD(Although the commentary is great!). Just the fact that no matter how long I keep this and how often I watch this movie, it won't change like VHS does. ... Read more

There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys reawaken the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Even with only the Good parts, much discussion can happen
I saw this movie when I was 11, now I'm in my 30's and it still invokes wonder.I also have always loved the humor of this tale.I love seeing Fred Savage become interested in the story as his grandfather(Peter Falk) reads it to him.It makes me nostalgic because my own grandparents and parent read to me when I was sick.
5-0 out of 5 stars Rob Reiner's Best
"The Princess Bride" is 1 hour and 38 minutes of excellent entertainment. It is based on the book of the same name, which is worth checking out as well. The witty dialog and charm of the movie is no accident ... it comes straight from the book.
3-0 out of 5 stars Death Cannot Stop True Love. All It Can Do Is Delay It For A While.
The Princess Bride is a 1987 movie directed by Rob Reiner and adapted from the William Goldman novel of the matching title. The rom com fairy tale adventure was originally a modest box office success, but over the years it has generated something of a massive cult appeal.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crash should be required in universities.
Crash is a transformative film. It's about how blind we are to our own predjudices. It's about living in a world where our lives and our assumptions about each other intersect, and yes, crash, and how we live and love and hurt and hate each other--and ourselves.
5-0 out of 5 stars crash was definitely a great film
The negative reviews about crash is mostly non-sense. Crash is one of the best films produced by Hollywood in the last 10 years. I just viewed it for the second time and the movie still felt very intense. The message is simple and clear. No one can judge another human being. Everyone has good and bad. Both qualities will be shown throughout one's life. And racism is so much more than color of our skin. The movie shows that even a mother can be a racist toward her own children. I thought the film dealt with that truth very well. If a person watches this film and learns nothing or feels nothing, that is pretty sad.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like this movie because...
This is a great movie and I like it because it's realistic. Not because of the storyline, but because of the diverse cast. There are too many movies and TV shows out there where everyone is Caucasian. That is not representative of America.Americans come in all shapes and sizes and colors.I know the entertainment industry has acknowledged the general lack of "minorities" in major roles, but they don't really seem to do anything about it.I guess that's because there's not a political will to do anything about it.It's just almost funny to watch a movie that takes place in a city like L.A., New York or Chicago where everyone is white. That's just not how things are.

    Editorial Review

No film better utilizes Audrey Hepburn's flighty charm and svelte beauty than this romantic adaptation of Truman Capote's novella. Hepburn's urban sophisticate Holly Golightly, an enchanting neurotic living off the gifts of gentlemen, is a bewitching figure in designer dresses and costume jewelry. George Peppard is her upstairs neighbor, a struggling writer and "kept" man financed by a steely older woman (Patricia Neal). His growing friendship with the lonely Holly soon turns to love and threatens the delicate balance of both of their compromised lives. Taking liberties with Capote's bittersweet story, director Blake Edwards and screenwriter George Axelrod turn New York into a city of lovers and create a poignant portrait of Holly, a frustrated romantic with a secret past and a hidden vulnerability. Composer Henry Mancini earned Oscars for the hit song "Moon River" and his tastefully romantic score. The only sour note in the whole film is Mickey Rooney's demeaning performance as the apartment's Japanese manager, an offensively overdone stereotype even in 1961. The rest of the film has weathered the decades well. Edwards's elegant yet light touch, Axelrod's generous screenplay, and Hepburn's mix of knowing experience and naiveté combine to create one of the great screen romances and a refined slice of high society bohemian chic. 5-0 out of 5 stars As Charming as A Classic Can get!
Breakfast at Tiffany's... If you haven't seen it, then you must have heard of it in some way. You have heard the title somewhere, you read about it at someplace or maybe you have heard the famous musical theme by Henry Mancini? Yes, it's hard not to have heard of this classic masterpiece in some sort of way.
5-0 out of 5 stars delicious
Blake Edward's masterpiece isbright, funny, intelligent, and thoroughly winning, thanks to his deft direction and the singular presence of its stars.Stunningly gowned by Givenchy, Audrey Hepburn makes the part of Holly Golightly completely her own, and is so captivating, one couldn't care less how greatly the film differs from Truman Capote's much darker novella.George Peppard is her praiseworthy partner in his most memorable role.To better complement his spirited co-star, he plays Paul Varjak quietly, radiating a natural humor, pride, warmth, and grace. With astonishing blue eyes, perfect hair, cardigans, tweed jackets, and penny loafers, Paul is achingly handsome and infinitely desirable.
5-0 out of 5 stars An amazingly beautiful, sad film
The sight of Audrey Hepburn, dressed immaculately in a black dress, wearing large black goggles, holding a danish pastry in one of her hands and a coffee in the other, looking wishfully, enchantedly into the window of Tiffany, joins forces with the extremely beautiful yet melancholy background score by Henri Mancini to set the tone of the movie. Quirky, witty, modern, fashionable, yet flowing over an undercurrent of unexplainable sadness.

I just love the movie. There is one song on it though that I would like to find out about the title. It is at the wedding where they dance for the first time. I am trying to find out the artist and also the title

5-0 out of 5 stars Love conquers all
Not a particularly involved plot, but then I've seen just about all there are, but a very nice little film. My first viewing of Teri Polo and I must say she is the star of the film. Got the impression it was a near-copy of the Horse Whisperer. If it was, it was poorly done. If you're going to steal someone's work, at least copy exactly the good parts.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Straight From the Heart " Touches The Heart
When a movie touches the heart like this one did, it makes one do a lot of reflecting. The two main characters, Tyler and Jordan, are both searching to bring meaning to their lives, yet each is not aware that they're lost.Jordan wanting more than a request from her long time boyfriend to move in together, accepts a "mail order bride" invitation (initiated by his concerned sister) to go out west to Wyoming to meet and hopefully charm a young cowboy. The loss of Tyler's wife and infant daughter during childbirth has left him alone and unwilling to look ahead to a possible life with another woman. While their initial meeting is less than warm, the road leading to their "reawakening to life"is filled with trials, that the viewer will want to find out how they overcame them. The film beautifully brings to life the mountainous lands of the west, the flowing rivers and natural wildlife. You feel like you're a part of the action and you find yourself totally involved with the families, both trying to make heads or tails of their situations. The film introduces you to and blends the legends of the old west at the same time it's taking place in modern times. Sit back and enjoy! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Film and Worth the Purchase
This is a great DVD that our son loves to watch. I don't think it is as good as the original but sequels rarely are. It's certainly worth the purchase and has a lot of extras on the disc. I have seen it less expensive in other stores however.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buzz & Woody Are Back
Yes it's true and people didn't think it could be done, Buzz & Woody back for a second adventure. In this film Woody finds out the real reason why he was made, he was a character on a TV show and Woody is one of the last remaining dolls made for that TV show.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent pick for all
Toy Story 2 is just as good as (or even better than) Toy Story 1.Great animation, very funny and teaches valuable lessons without the sadness. Some of the animated movies have scenes that are hard to watch, for example the opening scene in Finding Nemo or the beginning of Tarzan. My son watches those scenes in horror (and so do I).Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 1 have such an original storyline that is so endearing, and it is such a well rounded movie that it is an excellent pick for all.I also like the fact that the toys don't sing and dance as in most animated movies, and yet the music is excellent.I particularly love the song (composer: Randy Newman) when Buzz realizes he is just a toy and can't fly and tries to fly out the window.Me and my son play along to that part! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I don't get why people like this movie...
I checked out this movie not expecting it to be as good as something like Lord of the Rings, but thinking it may at least be as good as a Harry Potter movie. Instead I got some goofy movie I almost couldn't watch. Seriously, the kids in the movie are boring and annoying. There is no reason to root for them, they have basically no personalities or anything to identify with. They could have gotten any kids to play them and the movie couldn't have sucked worse since they were so bad to begin with. So then you have a witch who looks like a drag queen, and her little elf thingy who speaks in a voice that = nails on chalkboard, who want to take over Narnia and I guess kill all the stupid Narnia freaks or something - I don't know, but anyway she needs the kids to do it and of course the kids all love the CGI Lion and beavers and centaurs and some weirdo named Mr. Tumnus who looks like a Star Trek reject. The dialog, plot, acting - all wack. This movie is for little kids or people who still like that David Bowie movie, Labyrinth.

3-0 out of 5 stars movie was ok not great
too many people here give this movie 5 stars thats crazy.it's ok but not great.battle sequence could have been longer and better like lord of the rings battles.also i heard the book contains an extra page not in the original book.i have bought several books with the movie cover on them and none had this so called extra page.all the books were just like the originalwith a new cover from the movie to sell the books.i hope in the future they can improve this movie with digital technology like lucas did with star wars.especially the battle sequence at the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars The bestmovie ever
To begin whith the movie was great. I loved all the characters that you had.Lucy is a great actress also Susan Edmund and Peter they all acted out their parts perfect. When their were sad they looked like their were sad and when their happy they looked like their happy. Also the scenery. It was so very butifull, exspecialy when it had a colorful sky atdawn. Finally the best part I like about it was the story line .It was good, and the least thing i liked about it was there was a lot of things that were diferent from the book to the movie. But it was still a great movie, I loved it. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The Nightmare Collection - Good but missing certain niceties
I recently purchased the Nightmare on Elm Street Collection, and I love having not only the original movies but the final installment "New Nightmare," the perfect swan song to the series.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Horror Series
When I say good, I mean way better than the Friday the 13th movies anyway lol. What I love about the movies is that they mix fantasy with horror. So it's not just gory and disgusting, it's imaginative and inventive as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars You owe it to yourself to see this movie
The deal with Somewhere in Time is simple: if you have ever been in love, or have a romantic bone in your body, and if you can put aside for 90 minutes the cynicism we all seem to need to survive this modern world, then you will love this film. 5-0 out of 5 stars Christopher Reeve as an "actor"
This movie is absolutly beautiful! Make sure you have kleenex available...if the movie does not get to you, the music will....I can just picture Christopher holding out his hand to his wife.....somewhere in time...............

1-0 out of 5 stars unhappy ending
purchased the dvd and received it quickly - when trying to view the dvd I found it has no audio - I contacted the seller NO RESPONSE - I then went through Amazon and still NO RESPONSE. I am very disappointed and sad to say this has put a sour taste in my mouth. I can say I will never purchase anything from CHILLOUT ZONE again as it only takes but a minute to respond to an e-mail and they can not even to that....

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply one of Disney's Best
This has got to be at least in the top three of the many animated movies the Disney studios produced. So many great characters are in it - Cleo, Jiminy Crickit, The Good Fairy, Gepetto, Honest John, Monstro and of course Pinocchio himself. So many good hummable songs too including"An Actor's Life", I've Got No Strings to Hold Me Down, and the most famous "When You Wish Upon A Star."The story is original and the plot exciting without being too scary for little ones and all ends happily.Don't miss the ride at Disneyland either!

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the great disney films
Made back when Disney made truely great animated films. I love the old Disney stuff and Pinocchio is one of the best. Disney was and is the king of this film genre, especially back when this one was made. NO animation done today rivals the Disney cartoons of the era this film was made. Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, Pixar and any of the other animation studios of today will never touch the quality and imagination of early Disney films. I don't like computer animation, so maybe I'm biased in that respect. This film is pure art. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Five Star Movie, No Star DVD
This is a review of the 1997 DVD release- thus far, as of September 2006, the only release I know of.
2-0 out of 5 stars Say 5 times Beetlejuice and hope that it appears again
I really hopes that Beetlejuice would appear again. At least on DVD. Because this is a very poor edition with no extras at all. Just the plain old transfer with no remastered sound or nothing new. The only good extra features in this disc are the spanish and french tracks that doesn't mean that there no spanish and french subtitles also. As with any Tim Burton title, I wish a special edition would come up with all the backstage and in the making footage that make us understand the dificulties of doing a complex (and simple) movie like Beetlejuice.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Film: And A Very Unpredictable Ending!
There are countless reviews here, so I will make this one short. First, I am always amazed when I meet people who say they figured "The Usual Suspects" out by the middle of the movie. I for one was totally floored. I did not see it coming, and was very surprised [no spoilers]. The film has been analyzed, dissected, discussed, and with over 500 reviews, written about quite extensively. However, one of the things I don't understand is why someone would give the film one or two stars. There are many 'good' films that have really never appealed to me, however, I can see that although I might not like the film, it is a good film. Therefore, I would not think of giving such low marks to film for this reason; but would give my analysis of what I thought was weak about a film: Yet, I would still give the film its earned accolades. This film was great however.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great movie!
A movie not geared for morons! What a rare find. There aren't many movies that can't be figured-out half way through. This film is great; very clever.Never saw the ending coming.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't hate me for this...
Well, I hate to say that I was not impressed, but I cannot lie so here it goes:
5-0 out of 5 stars A Voluptuous Visual Narrative
Words are extraneous in this, one of my favorite Hitchcock flicks.
4-0 out of 5 stars Rear Window
When I was a child, I got so sick of hearing how brilliant Alfred Hitchcock was. To the extent that I never watched any of his movies, if you can believe it. Well, this one's pretty damn cool. I really don't want to overanalyze all the techniques that our beloved director employed so well, lest I spoil the fun. The plot centers around a question. Did Raymond Burr kill his wife and chop her up with saw and knife? That's the impression injured Jimmy Stewart got from peeping through the windows. We had to throw in some subplots and have some fun as well, because of the length, and it's excellent in doing that. Almost everybody sends up himself or herself a little bit, and we have some laughs in addition to trademark suspense, and it's a great film.

    Editorial Review

Joseph Mankiewicz's moody classic is less ghost story than romantic fantasy, a handsome 1947 drama of impossible love set on the picturesque turn-of-the-century New England coast. Independent young widow Lucy Muir (the luminous Gene Tierney), desperate to escape her uptight in-laws, falls in love with a grand seaside house and moves in, only to discover the cantankerous ghost of the hot-tempered Captain Gregg (a histrionically flamboyant performance by Rex Harrison). Lucy refuses to let the bombastic captain frighten her away, earning his respect, his friendship, and later his love. They team up to turn the captain's salty memoirs into a bestseller, but as his affection grows he fades away, leaving Lucy free to undertake a more worldly suitor, notably a charismatic children's author (George Sanders at his smarmy smoothest) with his own guarded secret. Charles Lang's melancholy black-and-white photography and Bernard Herrmann's haunting score set the tone for this sublime adult drama, and Tierney delivers one of her most understated performances as the resolute Mrs. Muir. Mankiewicz turns this ghost story into a refreshingly mature and down-to-earth romance. Read more

Jingoism, beefcake, military hardware, and a Giorgio Moroder rock score reign supreme over taste and logic in this Tony Scott film about a maverick trainee pilot (Tom Cruise) who can't follow the rules at a Navy aviation training facility. The dogfight sequences between American and Soviet jets at the end are absolutely mechanical, though audiences loved it at the time. The love story between Cruise's character and that of Kelly McGillis is like flipping through pages of advertising in a glossy magazine. This designer action movie from 1986 would be all the more appalling were it not for the canny casting of good actors in dumb parts. Standouts include Anthony Edwards--who makes a nice impression as Cruise's average-Joe pal--and the relatively unknown Meg Ryan in a small but memorable appearance. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Why in the world is this movie still popular?
I watched Top Gun for the first time since I was a kid the other day, and I just have to ask, what's so great about this movie? It's utter garbage. The plot makes no sense at all.Who are they fighting in the war at the end?And the war only lasts 15 MINUTES?And Tom Cruise ends the war?Huh?The film is also very gay at points. What was with the guys standing around in their underwear and hugging each other throughout the movie? And I won't even get started on the volleyball game. The dialogue for the movie is completely lame and stupid, filled with nothing but sexual references and cursing. It takes real brains to come up with that type of "witty" dialogue. And finally the acting is so hammy and chessy, you actually wonder why this movie made big stars out of Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan, and Tim Robbins. This piece of trash should have ended all of their careers. And most people probably would have wanted their careers to end.In the end, Paramount didn't even want Tom Cruise on their payroll.
4-0 out of 5 stars 2 Disc Special Edition is a winner!!
This review is of the two disc special edition of Top Gun, not the prior one disc edition.Top Gun is essentially about a naval pilot's journey through fighter weapons school. He must resist his rebellious individual nature to become the best pilot and also a team player. If you're reading this review, chances are you've already seen the movie so I'll focus on reviewing the dvd.
1-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the Most Overrated Film Ever
I've seen this several times over the years and still can't make sense of why it's such a favorite. The acting is subpar, the drama cheesy and in my opinion as an active duty sailor, fails quite miserably to capture the true spirit of being in the Navy. To think that lunatic Tom Cruise practically built a career off of this garbage...sigh... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Fun Fun!
Not only fun to do but also a good/moderate work-out. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves to dance and wants to add some SPICE to their mundane work-out routine ... and to their love life!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A different fun
I really liked this DVD. At first I was intimidated to buy something with the name like "striptease" but it was actually quite fun and I did feel a tad spicier when I was done. I did build up a sweat and thought it was quite fun to do. Carmen Electra explains everything in a fun way and gives you a demonstration first before continuing so there's an example of how to move. I thought she and the other two girls were quite sexy and she has a great attitude which makes me want to continue doing these.

4-0 out of 5 stars New Spice To Exercise
Carmen Electra leads a series of workouts combining the most useful elements of the striptease, dancing, and exercise. She begins with a low-intensity workout aimed at the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and hips, featuring a full warm-up and three cardio dance routines. Electra next performs a more rigorous set before moving into the lap dance, teaching viewers exactly what lap dances are, adapting them into the context of an exercise workout, and introducing an intense hip-hop dance with a firm emphasis on cardio. Her simple instructions and infectious enthusiasm encourage women of all shapes, sizes, and ages to feel confident in their bodies. ... Read more
